Senior Ukrainian bishop claims he’s under house arrest

Metropolitan Pavel, Abbot of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, is suspected of supporting Russia’s actions during the conflict

The leader of Ukraine’s largest Orthodox Christian monastery has said he is under house arrest, marking the latest twist in Kiev’s religious crackdown. Metropolitan Pavel (secular name Pyotr Lebed), a senior bishop in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), is suspected of inciting religious tensions.

The cleric, who has served as abbot of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra since 1994, told reporters about his arrest on Saturday, in a video released by the Ukrainian news network Vesti.

Meanwhile the SBU, Ukraine’s domestic security service, claimed in a statement that it “had collected well-founded evidence” that the bishop was “inciting inter-religious enmity” and “justifying Russia’s aggression.” The two potential charges carry prison sentences of up to eight years and three years, respectively.

On Saturday, local media reported that during a hearing in a Kiev court, Pavel said he was feeling unwell, leading to the judge postponing the session to Monday.

The SBU said Pavel “insulted the religious feelings of Ukrainians” and “tried to create hostile attitudes” towards members of other religious denominations. The cleric’s house was also raided by SBU operatives, with the bishop summoned for questioning, according to the UOC.

Metropolitan Pavel has denied the allegations, insisting that he has always condemned Moscow’s military operation and “stood in defense of my motherland.”

The Russian Orthodox Church has denounced the SBU’s crackdown on the bishop. Vladimir Legoida, who heads the Church’s public relations department, claimed that the house arrest was made “on trumped-up charges” and is “a natural continuation of the justice violations” committed by the Ukrainian authorities.

The Kiev Pechersk Lavra, which is administered by the UOC, is 980 years old and has been the target of a relentless campaign by Ukrainian authorities in recent months. Kiev officials suspect the UOC of covertly supporting the Russian government despite it having proclaimed independence from Moscow after the start of the conflict in February 2022.

The crackdown culminated last month when Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture claimed, without providing any proof, that the UOC violated the 2013 agreement which allowed it to administer the monastery, with the monks ordered to vacate the premises. However, the UOC refused to comply, describing the order as “unlawful.”

Ukraine’s push to evict the monks has sparked tensions between supporters and opponents of the UOC. On Saturday, local media shared footage of a brief clash between the two groups near the site.

Ukraine has long experienced religious tensions, with a number of entities claiming to be the true Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The two main rival factions are the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Kiev-backed Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), which is considered by the Russian Orthodox Church to be schismatic.

Billionaires Brin, Pritzker, Zuckerman And Ovitz Issued Subpoenas In Epstein Lawsuit

Billionaires Sergey Brin, Thomas Pritzker, Mortimer Zuckerman and Michael Ovitz were issued subpoenas this week by the US Virgin Islands as part of its lawsuit against JPMorgan over the bank's relationship with now-deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter.

The subpoenas seek any communications or documents related to JPMorgan and Epstein.

The four men are some of the wealthiest people in the U.S., and it couldn’t be determined why they were being asked for the communications and documents. In civil cases, lawyers can use subpoenas during the discovery process to get information from people who aren’t a party to a lawsuit but could provide evidence related to the case. -WSJ

JPMorgan is being sued by the US Virgin Islands along with several Epstein accusers in a combined case over Epstein's sex trafficking operation. The plaintiffs claim that the bank facilitated abuse by allowing Epstein to remain a client while helping send money to his victims. The lawsuit also alleges that JPMorgan turned a blind eye to Epstein's activities after receiving referrals for high-value business opportunities.

As we noted on Tuesday, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon is expected to be deposed under oath regarding the bank's relationship with Epstein - who banked with JPMorgan for 15 years until it eventually cut ties with the convicted sex offender in 2013.

"Jamie Dimon knew in 2008 that his billionaire client was a sex trafficker," argued US Virgin Islands attorney Mimi Liu during a March hearing in front of Manhattan US District Judge Jed Rakoff, referring to the year Epstein was first criminally charged with sex crimes, CNBC reported earlier this month.

Lawyers have questioned several JPMorgan employees so far in this case and another filed by an unnamed woman who accused Epstein of sexual abuse. The cases are running together in Manhattan federal court.

JPMorgan has sought to have the lawsuits dismissed. The bank has denied that it aided Epstein and has sought to blame any relationship on former executive Jes Staley, whom the bank has sued. Mr. Staley has maintained he was friendly with Epstein but never knew about his alleged crimes. -WSJ

"If Staley is a rogue employee, why isn’t Jamie Dimon?" Liu said during the hearing to discuss the bank's efforts to have the USVI lawsuit against the bank dismissed, referring to former JPMorgan executive Jes Staley, who is not named in the current litigation.

"Staley knew, Dimon knew, JPMorgan Chase knew," Liu continued, noting that there were several cash transfers and wire transfers made by the prolific pedophile (Epstein), including several hundreds of thousands of dollars paid to several women which should have been flagged as suspicious.

California Gov. Newsom Announces $10 Million PAC Targeting Red States

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is on the campaign trail, aiming to turn traditionally red states into opportunities for the Democratic Party, with the help of $10 million in funding from his war chest and a newly launched Campaign for Democracy political action committee.

Announced March 30, the cross-country effort will put Newsom and his blueprint for the nation on the national radar as the 2024 campaign is starting to kick into gear. While speculation grows that he is a possible contender for the presidency, Newsom is adamant that he has no interest at this time. The governor will be termed out of office after 2026.

In comments to a host of publications over the past year, Newsom has repeatedly said, “it’s not the moment” for him, it’s “not gonna happen,” and he has “sub-zero interest,” but that hasn’t stopped rumors from circulating that the Golden State governor is positioning himself for a national campaign.

Democratic leaders remain loyal to President Joe Biden, though recent polls indicate lagging support for the administration from members of its own party. Disapproval ratings are estimated at 53.4 percent as of March 31, according to statistics website FiveThirtyEight operated by Nate Silver, and potential matchups between Biden and Donald Trump, or Ron DeSantis, are too close to call, based on recent national polls.

The Campaign for Democracy’s messaging is focused on targeting Republican leadership and questioning the party’s legitimacy and capacity to serve.

“Leading figures of the Republican Party continue operating with a total disregard for democratic norms and institutions, and their use of fear-mongering tactics to maintain control and foment division is leading to a dangerous erosion of our democracy,” the committee wrote on its website.

The statement is placed under a section titled Existential Threats, featuring photos of former President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

“Authoritarian leaders are so hell-bent on gaining power and keeping it that they’re directly attacking our freedoms in state after state,” Newsom said in a quote on the site.

Meanwhile, critics say Newsom’s extensive use of emergency powers during the pandemic and history of issuing record numbers of executive orders have been a major concern for California.

“Ah the Campaign for Democracy from the guy who brags about ‘jamming’ his democratically elected legislature, issues orders taking away civil liberties, closed schools, shuts down churches and small businesses, destroys livelihoods and violates the rights of parents,” California Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher, of Yuba City, wrote on Twitter March 30.

In an exclusive post-prison interview with NATIONAL FILE, Baked Alaska told us that “God is good” and he credited his Christian faith with getting him through the harrowing experience.

“It was terrible man they threw me in the hole for 16 days with nothing,” Baked Alaska told NATIONAL FILE. “An officer who does not like our side of the aisle called me a domestic terrorist POS, threw me against the wall, and put me in the “SHU” (special housing unit) as they call it. There’s a lot of corruption in FCI Miami and I’m going to be dropping more details soon.”

The “hole,” or the “SHU” at the FCI Miami Prison is basically hardcore solitary confinement, but with one other prisoner in the cell. Baked Alaska called it “dungeon-style torture” and “really sick stuff.”

“It’s solitary confinement but with a cellie. They take everything from you — no TV, no property, no radio, you can only shower 3 times a week, you can’t do commissary. You are locked down 24 hours a day. They escort you in handcuffs to even go to the shower. They enjoy torturing you in there. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. The only way I made it through is God. My faith in The Bible,” Baked Alaska told NATIONAL FILE.

Baked Alaska said that when he was in the hole he did not get to make a single phone call to his lawyer or to his parents, and “they were worried sick about me.” Baked said that he was able to get a copy of The Bible, which got him through the experience. He also procured a Game of Thrones book, but “other than that it’s extremely tough mentally.”

“God is good,” Baked Alaska said. The famed musician confirmed that there are gangs in the Miami federal prison, but he got along with many of his fellow prisoners.

“It’s crazy, but a lot of the inmates were really cool. A lot of them liked Trump and were very sympathetic to the January 6 people,” Baked Alaska said.

Baked Alaska said that he is still fighting some other legal battles, but once he gets through them then he will make his triumphant return. “Then I’ll be making my big comeback to streaming,” Baked Alaska said.

“Trump got indicted, Ricky Vaughn got a guilty verdict today. That’s what the government does, if you’re a Trump supporter or a patriot, and they don’t like your politics. They try to destroy you. They’re doing it to Trump, to Steve Bannon, Ricky Vaughn. I shouldn’t have been doing time in federal prison for a non-violent misdemeanor.”

“There are people out to get me, and to twist anything I say. I just have to keep fighting these legal issues so I can put them in the past and move forward. I’m very excited and optimistic about 2024.”

New Zealand Minister Slammed After Blaming 'White Cis Men' For Violence

New Zealand's so-called "violence prevention minister" is taking heat after saying it's "white cis men who cause violence in the world."

For those who aren't up on the thesaurus of gender identity politics, 'cis' is short for 'cisgender' - or people whose 'gender identity matches their sex assigned at birth' - or 99% of the population.

Minister Marama Davidson is refusing to publicly apologize for her comments, which have received at least 90 complaints. She has allegedly apologized in private to Prime Minister Chris Hipkins, according to news.com.au.

"Trans people are tired of being oppressed and discriminated," Davidson told a reporter for Counterspin. "I am a prevention violence minister and I know who causes violence in the world, it is white cis men. That is white cis men who cause violence in the world."

And while not apologizing, Davidson 'clarified' her comments, saying: "I have clarified what I intended to say and particularly affirm and acknowledge victims and survivors who may not have seen themselves in my comments and wanted to make sure I affirm their experiences."

When asked if she would apologise to people who felt offended, as the National Party has called for, Ms Davidson repeated she had “made things clearer in my public statement”.

“I acknowledge that I should have been clearer in my words. I normally take incredible care. I understand the importance of my language in my work,” Ms Davidson said.

“This is how much focus I normally take in the language that I use, which is why I have clarified it in my public statement.”

Hipkins, meanwhile, cut her some slack over the 'cis white men' comment.

Judge shields Hunter Biden’s finances from public in child-support case

A judge ordered Hunter Biden’s financial records to be shielded from the public in an ongoing paternity case in Arkansas.

Circuit Judge Holly Meyer ruled Monday that all of the information the first son submits to the court related to his request to lower child-support payments, including financial records, will remain under seal.

Only attorneys on the case or expert witnesses retained to testify will be allowed access to the financial records, Meyer ruled.

In her order, Meyer addressed the political interest in Biden’s finances, which could include the names of those who bought his paintings and what they paid for them.

One was priced at nearly a quarter-million dollars at a gallery show late last year.

Both Biden and his Manhattan art dealer, Georges Berges, have refused to provide any information about the buyers.

“There is good cause for the protection of private information of the parties in this cause,” Meyers wrote, adding that “the court has no concern for the political nature or aspects surrounding this case.”

“This is a case about child support and the court has treated and will continue to treat these parties as any other members of this judicial district,” added Meyer, who began her term as a circuit judge in January 2019.

The paternity case was reopened last September after Biden sought to lower his child support payments to Lunden Roberts, the mother of his 4-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts.

Biden’s income has been at the center of the case after he cited a “substantial material change in (his) financial circumstances, including but not limited to his income” as the reason to lower his payments to Roberts.

The amount he had been paying is not included in the filings.

In January, Roberts filed a motion to change her daughter’s last name to Biden, claiming it would improve her daughter’s life because it is “now synonymous with being well educated, successful, financially acute and politically powerful.”

However, Biden — who has been probed for his foreign business deals, battled alcohol and crack cocaine addictions, and was seen in leaked photos waving a gun around in the nude with a prostitute — said it would not be a good time for his daughter to take his presidential surname.

Instead, he argued that his daughter should decide for herself once “the disparagement of the Biden name is not at its height.”

Former Prime Minister of Lebanon Saad Hariri assaulted flight attendants: lawsuit ==

A pair of flight attendants claim they were repeatedly sexually assaulted by the then-prime minister of Lebanon aboard his private plane — including while en route to a state visit at the White House — according to a federal lawsuit.

Saad El-Din Rafik Al-Hariri, whom Forbes reported as having a net worth of $1.7 billion in 2018, regularly groped the two women and forcibly raped one of them multiple times during flights where Hariri was “heavily medicated” and his cronies drank and did cocaine, they alleged in court papers.

The attacks frequently occurred on Hariri’s Boeing-737, claimed the women, who were identified in court papers only as Jane Doe 1 and 2.

“If you want to work in this company you are going to have to learn to suck some d–k,” Jane Doe 1’s boss, Helen Conlon, allegedly told her when she reported the assaults, she claimed in the Brooklyn Federal Court lawsuit.

Hariri, 52, served as Lebanon’s prime minister from 2009 to 2011 and again from 2016 to 2020 before abruptly leaving politics behind in 2022.

His father, Rafic, also served two stints as the country’s prime minister and was assassinated in 2005.

He has repeatedly denied the allegations as false and deemed them a “smear campaign.”

It’s the third time the women have attempted to sue Hariri in New York, records show.

Two previous lawsuits in state court were either dropped or dismissed by a judge.

The purported victims have “engaged in years-long harassment of Mr. Hariri with the goal of using false and inflammatory allegations in an effort to wrongfully extract millions of dollars,” his lawyer, Rita Glavin, told a Manhattan Supreme Court judge in August.

Hariri, a married father of three, made headlines in 2019 after it emerged he’d allegedly made $16 million in payments to his bikini-model mistress, Candice van der Merwe, who was later probed in her native South Africa for failing to pay tax on the cash.

The flight attendants worked for Saudi Oger, a construction company that shut down in 2017 and was owned by the Hariri family.

During one alleged attack, Hariri allegedly “forcefully” grabbed Jane Doe 1’s genitals and told her, “I like you. I’ll see you again, very soon,” according to the legal papers.

The first accuser — who “feared the possible consequences to both her future employment and safety if she reported the abuse externally” — finally quit in 2009 after years of assaults, she said in the litigation.

The second accuser was first assaulted by Hariri in September 2007, when he flew to Washington, DC for a state visit with President George W. Bush, she alleged.

Hariri asked for a bottle of water in his bedroom, then tried to force her onto his bed before she escaped, she said in the legal filing.

Another of the attacks took place after a 2008 Christmas party during which the female crew was required to dress in “sexy” Santa costumes and guests drank “copious” amounts of booze, she said in court papers.

When she reported the assaults, Conlon allegedly told her, “nobody says no to [Hariri], darling,” according to the lawsuit.

She was fired in 2010, the alleged victim said in the litigation.

The women, who hail from Australia and Wales, sued Hariri, a dual citizen in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, in New York under the state’s Adult Survivors Act.

The law opened a one-year legal window for victims who were over the age of 18 when they were assaulted, and whose cases are otherwise past the statute of limitations, to go to court.

The victims reported the assaults to law enforcement in their home countries, according to their lawyer, Zachary Holzberg.

“President Trump’s in great spirits,” Miller said when asked how the former president is doing following the news of the indictment, adding that the former president is currently going through upcoming campaign plans despite the current state of affairs.

“It’s how he powers through in the face of adversity and how he’s been doing this ever since he came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower is just amazing. No one else in history has been able to do this,” Miller said, adding, ” The more they attack him, the stronger he gets.”

Miller briefly walked through what will happen next as the world awaits Trump’s surrender and arraignment. He noted that Trump is currently in Palm Beach, Florida, and proceeding with his normal schedule through the weekend. However, he will head to New York on Monday and stay overnight in Trump Tower and head to the courthouse “very early Tuesday morning.”

“There’s a bit of a delay period until you go in front of the judge. They do the arraignment. They do the, sort of, all the kind of the logistics type stuff, and then he’ll come on back to Florida,” Miller said, explaining that the public can expect to hear from the former president — whether that be through interviews or public events — mid- to late-next week.

“We will be hearing from him in pretty strong terms Wednesday and Thursday, but I would not expect to see him doing any rallies or public events until that,” Miller said, confirming that Trump will be with Secret Service the entire time.

Despite this latest witch hunt, Miller said Trump is “very confident,” in a “very good mood,” and particularly appreciative of everyone expressing their support of him.

“He’s also very appreciative, and this is important for the Breitbart audience, very appreciative for everybody reaching out and saying that they stand with him, and he realizes it. I think he feeds off of that energy,” Miller said, speculating about why the left is targeting Trump yet again after years of false and flimsy accusations. Miller said it boils down to this: Trump Derangement Syndrome.

The Trump adviser added that some of these Trump attackers likely have selfish political aspirations and hope it will expand their own opportunities within the Democrat party.

REPORT: Cops Raided Farm To Seize 9-Year-Old’s Pet Goat So State Senator Could Serve It At Community Barbecue

A California mom is suing after cops raided her farm to seize her daughter’s pet goat so that a state senator could serve it at a community barbecue, according to reports.

Jessica long bought Cedar the goat in April of last year for her nine-year-old daughter, The Sacramento Bee reported. Long entered Cedar into the Shasta District Fair’s livestock auction, which stipulated that the all sales are “terminal” and the animal would be sold for meat, according to the report. The fair reportedly had a “no exceptions” rule. But Long changed her mind prior to the bidding, according to the report, and tried to pull Cedar out of the auction, but officials refused.

Cedar was sold to state Sen. Brian Dahle for $902, according to The Sacramento Bee. Long, desperate to make her distressed daughter happy, decided to “break the rules and take the goat that night and deal with the consequences later,” according to the report.

Long also said she contacted Dahle and he didn’t mind saving the goat.

“Making an exception for you will only teach our youth that they do not have to abide by the rules that are set up for all participants,” Shasta District Fair Chief Executive Officer Melanie Silva said in an email, according to The Sacramento Bee.

Things only got worse for the goat, with a livestock manager from the fair reportedly texting Long and warning of “serious consequences” if the goat wasn’t returned. Then a sheriff from Shasta County, Detective Jeremy Ashbee, filed a search warrant to retrieve Cedar, according to the report. A judge signed off on it and officer reportedly used “breaching equipment to force open doorway(s), entry doors, exit doors, and locked containers in pursuit of their target.”

But Long had sent Cedar to a nearby farm in a desperate attempt to save Cedar’s life. Authorities, however, seized the goat, allegedly without a warrant at that specific farm, and drove him back to Shasta County for slaughtering, according to the report. It is unclear whether Cedar was then served at the barbecue, according to the report.

Miley Cyrus Donates to LGBTQ Org that Targets Children After Elementary School Bans her ‘Rainbowland’ Song

Pop star Miley Cyrus’ Happy Hippie Foundation donated to an LGBTQ organization that specifically targets children in response to a Wisconsin school district banning the singer’s “Rainbowland” song in an elementary school.

The Waukesha School District in Waukesha, Wisconsin, prohibited first-graders from singing Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton’s 2017 collaboration “Rainbowland” on Monday, citing a rule against controversial issues in the classroom, according to a report by Stereogum.

Cyrus’ Happy Hippie Foundation responded to that decision by announcing it would donate to Pride And Less Prejudice, an organization that provides “LGBTQ-inclusive books to Pre-K through 3rd grade classrooms,” according to its website.

“To the inspiring first grade students at Heyer Elementary, keep being YOU. We believe in our Happy Hippie heart that you’ll be the ones to brush the judgment and fear aside and make all of us more understanding and accepting,” Happy Hippie Foundation wrote on social media.

“In honor & celebration of your BRIGHT future Happy Hippie is making a donation to @lessprejudice to help make classrooms more inclusive!” the foundation added in a followup post.

Waukesha Superintendent James Sebert told WPR that “the question was around whether the song was appropriate for the age and maturity level of the first-grade students.”

While Cyrus donates to a foundation that superficially targets children, states and parents of young children are struggling to keep queer-theorist propaganda away from their children.

Last year, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed the state’s anti-grooming Parental Rights in Education law, which prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through 3rd grade — a move that outraged transgender activists.

Earlier this month in Tennessee, Gov. Bill Lee signed into law bills that ban sex change operations, cross-sex hormone therapy, and puberty blockers on children who are attempting to transition, in addition to banning drag performances on public property and in the presence of children.

On Monday, 28-year-old Audrey Hale, who believed she was a male, stalked the halls of Covenant School in Nashville, where she killed three children and three adults before she was successfully taken down by authorities.

After being asked by reporters if there was “any reason to believe that how she identifies has any motive for targeting the school,” Nashville Police Chief John Drake said, “There is some theory to that,” indicating that transgender ideology played a role in Hale’s motive. Authorities have yet to release a manifesto she wrote explaining her plans.

Florida Grand Jury Slams Joe Biden’s Child-Trafficking Program

President Joe Biden’s progressive deputies are smuggling children and teenage migrants to U.S.-based labor traffickers and employers, a Florida grand jury declared on March 30.

The federal government “is facilitating the forced migration, sale, and abuse of foreign children, and some of our fellow Florida residents are (in some cases unwittingly) funding and incentivizing it for primarily economic reasons,” the 46-page report published by Florida’s Statewide Prosecutor’s Office said.

The jury’s report, described as “stunning” by the Miami Herald, describes how foreign children and teens are delivered to employers via a relay-chain network of coyotes, cartels, federal agencies, government-funded nonprofits, and U.S.-based labor traffickers. The New York Times sketched the resulting child workforce in a dramatic article on February 25: “Cristian works a construction job instead of going to school. He is 14. … Carolina packages Cheerios at night in a factory. She is 15. … Wander starts looking for day-labor jobs before sunrise. He is 13.”

“It’s outrageous that we are still talking about ending child labor in the United States,” Jessica Vaughan, the policy director at the Center for Immigration Studies, said.

The labor trafficking is aided by many of the progressive groups who loudly denounce Americans’ concerns about illegal migration, Vaughan told Breitbart News:

The leaves are used to produce a 'decocainized' ingredient for the iconic soda and the cocaine byproduct is sold to the nation's largest opioid manufacturer, which markets the powder as a numbing agent and topical anesthetic for dentists.

The unassuming facility in Maywood has been processing coca leaves for Coca-Cola for over 100 years and is now run by a chemical manufacturer called Stepan Company.

It operates under special licenses issued to it by the DEA and is the only company in the US permitted to import coca leaves and manufacture cocaine.

And just this year, on January 30, Stepan successfully renewed its petition for permission to continue importing the controlled substance into the US.

The DEA did not respond to a request from DailyMail.com for details as to how much coca the company imports, but in the 1980s it was was reported that more than 500 metric tons of leaves could enter the plant in a single year.

Five hundred tons of leaves might produce something in the region of two million grams of cocaine - which, according to pharmaceutical company listings online, could be worth around $2 billion.

Signature verification software used by Maricopa County says 10% is 'high-confidence' match

Maricopa County has contracts with Runbeck Election Services for Verus Pro signature verification software.

With Kari Lake's legal complaint alleging systematic signature verification failures in Maricopa County remanded by the Arizona Supreme Court to trial court, closer examination of the signature verification software used by the county reveals a strikingly low threshold for signatures to qualify as "high-confidence" matches.

Since falling about 17,000 votes short in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election to Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs, Lake has continued to contest the election results in court, arguing that there were ballot chain of custody and signature verification issues in addition to thousands of Republican voters disproportionately disenfranchised on Election Day, when voting machine errors occurred in nearly 60% of the voting centers in Maricopa County. Lake has requested that the election results be invalidated or that she be declared the winner.

Last week, the Arizona Supreme Court remanded Lake's claim alleging massive signature verification failure to the trial court, ruling that because Lake is challenging the failure to adhere to current policy rather than the policy itself, her suit was not filed too late, as the lower court had found in dismissing her case. The former candidate must "establish that 'votes [were] affected "in sufficient numbers to alter the outcome of the election"' based on a 'competent mathematical basis to conclude that the outcome would plausibly have been different, not simply an untethered assertion of uncertainty,'" the state's high court ruled.

According to 2020 emails between Maricopa County officials and an employee of the county's election technology vendor, Runbeck Election Services, the election firm's Verus Pro application for signature verification ranks signature matches on a scale of 0 to 100. However, only scores "lower than 10" are "not marked as Accepted by Verus Pro," according to an email from a Maricopa County official, which the county provided to then-Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich after a public records request.

When Maricopa County was testing Verus Pro for the 2020 general election, county election official Rey Valenzuela called the rollout of the software a "sh-t show" in an October email to Runbeck.

Signatures sent to Runbeck "are assigned a score," reads the contract, "based on the verification; signatures with a score of 10 or higher are routed to a high-confidence manual signature verification queue, and signatures with a lower score are routed to a low-confidence signature verification queue."

The contract was obtained through a public records request and given to former Arizona Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Wright after she left office. Wright shared it with Just the News.

Maricopa County "won't admit to using the software," but the contracts show it does, Wright said.

Some additions in the 2022 contract, which extends a 2020 agreement, include "the ability to turn Signature Verification on or off."

Under the performance criteria stipulated in the extension, Verus Pro was bound to process "at least 3,600 signatures/hour" and "correctly assess if a signature is present on at least 80% of inbound images" of early ballot envelopes.

Signature verification applies to early ballots, when voters' signatures on the ballot envelopes are checked against signatures in voters' files to ensure they match. There were more than 1.3 million early ballots cast in Maricopa County's 2022 general election.

Desantis to visit Israel next month

NSW government calls for Mark Latham to apologise, after no remorse over homophobic tweets

There is no way to reprimand One Nation NSW leader Mark Latham over his homophobic comments, the newly elected NSW Labor government says.

"And let's see what happens when they press the button on the upper house ballot on the 20th of April."

She joined newly elected Premier Chris Minns in condemning Mr Latham's comments, calling for him to apologise.

"The best thing that Mr Latham could do is to apologise to Mr Greenwich. That's what we want him to do today."

Violent transgender activists allegedly assault dad

The Vancouver Police Department is investigating after activist Chris Elston, also known as "Billboard Chris," says he was assaulted Friday at a trans-rights rally.

"The most violent group in the western world are transgender activists," Elston tweeted Saturday.

"Here I am getting assaulted in the presence of dozens of police who do nothing," Elston said.

"We have launched an investigation into an incident that occurred at yesterday’s trans-rights rally at Grandview Park. We support everyone’s right to peacefully assemble and protest, but we will also hold people accountable for acts of violence and criminal behaviour," the Vancouver Police Department said Saturday afternoon in a tweet that is closed for comment.

"I'll believe them when I see results," Elston said Saturday in a tweet. "Hopefully they conduct an internal investigation into the conduct of their own officers," he added. According to Elston, officers did too little to intervene.

"Billboard Chris" is an activist father based in Canada who opposes surgical and chemical approaches to treating gender dysphoria in children. He reportedly travels across North America wearing sandwich board signs succinctly summarizing his position. He has been interviewed on news and opinion programs including Fox News Channel's "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

One video of Friday's incident in Vancouver shows Elston, already with what appears to be an open cut on the bridge of his nose from an earlier assault in the public park. That video shows a group surrounding him, chanting "f*** you." Police officers are seen standing by as the swarm quickly grows violent.

The video shows one chanting protester with an orange umbrella and a rainbow flag, standing within inches of Elston, directly behind him. As Elston turns, his elbow appears to graze the protester's fluffy coat collar and Elston appears to place his hand lightly on the protester's collar as he continues turning on the spot.

The video shows the protester immediately go for Elston's neck with what appears to be an attempt at a choking type hold. A scuffle ensues as Elston pulls back from the hold, then pushes the protester away, and tumbles toward the group of officers. As Elston creates some distance between himself and the protester group, one female officer among the several officers in view in the footage, appears to be smiling or chuckling.

"I need to sue the VPD. This is obscene," Elston also tweeted.

The first assault at the Vancouver location occurred "within seconds" of his arrival, Elston said, adding that he had called 911 for assistance. According to Elston, the female officer — who appears to be the same officer smiling during the later assault described above — initially suggested Elston might have cut his own nose.

"People can do these things, hurt themselves on purpose … you provided me no evidence," the officer said, before seeing video of the first assault.

After seeing the video, the officer agrees to "have a conversation" with the people who allegedly first assaulted Elston, "to see what they say."
