When I was a kid, I recall my mom telling me about some mom who lived in her neighborhood years before I was born, who had a son and dressed him in girls clothes until he went to school, because she wanted a girl and not a boy. Apparently, the mom was mentally ill. Maybe she had been sexually abused or something? Anyways, I guess the boy grew up fine and into a man, despite his mother's mental illness. But nowadays, she could just send him to school in girls clothes and claim that he identified as a girl. And the school would encourage and celebrate it.
