Trump Charges Explainer & thoughts: From what I hear, this is the jury charge for @realDonaldTrump’s indictment. New York PL § 175.10, FALSIFYING BUSINESS RECORDS IN THE 1ST DEGREE. INTENT is an element, which is why they need @MichaelCohen212. This is the felony charge which requires, as another element, that it was done to cover up a crime. PL § 175.05 is 2nd degree & a misdemeanor, lacking that second element. The attempt to elevate it to a Class E Felony, is solely to get around the statute of limitations clock which, Bragg will argue,…

…tolled when Trump was out of state. I can provide the case law he’ll use to make this argument. A biased judge can let the indictment stand. Appeals, if he’s convicted, would be another matter. Bragg’s entire case will rest on Trump covering up a campaign finance crime which the FEC said didn’t happen. Between that, & the timing, appeals are a no brainer, as in NY, the state constitution guarantees a speedy trial, & federally, it’s a clear cut 6th amendment argument. I don’t think Trump is in any peril. It’s a joke of a case & a political hit job as is obvious to everyone, even CNN! It won’t hold up. But they’re betting everything on it, and I’ll want revenge. Pendulums bruh. They’re not trying to get him to win the nomination with this. They really do want to prevent him from ever running. That’s obvious.

I know a lot of very smart conservatives say this is a play to get him the nomination so they can beat him. It’s not. They’re using this, Georgia’s laughingstock, & the special counsel over classified docs, to try to kneecap him. That’s obvious by now. It’s not a play. They’re actually this evil.

They actually are trying to use a corrupt justice system to eliminate and imprison a political opponent and opposition leader. This is incomprehensibly bad and they don’t fear the other half of the country. Only if we turn it around on them, will they.

Here is some of the case law in NY that Bragg will use to defeat statute of limitations, which is 5 yrs. He has to argue that the clock tolled when Trump was out of state. There is some precedent, but this is unique. Misdemeanor was 2 years. Hence the elevation to felony.

If Bragg is ballsy & @Isikoff was given wrong info or the language was off, he could try NY PL § 175.35, or OFFERING A FALSE INSTRUMENT FOR FILING IN THE FIRST DEGREE. Jury charge below. This is a Class D felony but it’s OFFERING instead of just FALSIFYING. Highly unlikely.

Elon brought me back! And stuff. I’m a better pretend lawyer than half the idiots on here with a JD, because logic isn’t hard. Based takes only.

Trump answers to New York criminal charges

The former US president has pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts in the Manhattan indictment against him

Former US president Donald Trump has entered not guilty pleas on all 34 criminal charges against him after surrendering for arrest in a New York City case stemming from his alleged 2016 hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump, 76, was arraigned on Tuesday in a Manhattan courtroom, becoming the first president in US history to face criminal prosecution. His lawyers have denounced the indictment as a politically-driven “witch hunt” perpetrated by District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat who ran for office on a pledge to prosecute the former president and whose campaign was funded largely by billionaire activist George Soros.

Trump reportedly sat with his hands folded, flanked by his lawyers, as he said “not guilty” when asked how he pleaded to the charges. Prior to the court hearing, he waved to a crowd gathered outside the courthouse after being driven in a motorcade from his home at Trump Tower in Manhattan. He held his fist in the air as he left Trump Tower in front of reporters. He ignored questions from reporters as he left the courtroom.

A Manhattan grand jury voted last week to indict Trump on 34 charges of falsifying business records in connection with a $130,000 payment to Daniels. The payment was allegedly made by Trump’s then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, to buy Daniels’ silence about an affair with the billionaire, who was on his way to winning the 2016 presidential election at the time. Trump has denied any wrongdoing.

“Heading to Lower Manhattan, the courthouse,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on his way to court on Tuesday. “Wow, they are going to arrest me. Can’t believe this is happening in America. MAGA!”

Trump critics have argued that the indictment shows that no one is above the law in America. However, the case may be the beginning of a new chapter for the US political system, as it marks the arrest not only of a former president, but also the leading opposition-party candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has decried the prosecution of Trump, arguing that US Democrats are using the legal system to block a political opponent from being elected. “This is completely anti-democratic . . . Why not allow the people to decide?

EU leader declares support for Trump

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban urged the embattled ex-president to “keep on fighting” as he prepares to face trial in New York

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban took to Twitter on Monday to show his support for former US President Donald Trump, who will appear in court in New York on Tuesday. “We are with you,” the conservative PM told his political ally.

Trump departed his residence in Florida on Monday, bound for the city in which he built his fortune, New York. He is expected to turn himself in on Tuesday to face criminal charges relating to his alleged payment of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Crowds of supporters cheered the ex-president’s motorcade as it traveled to Palm Beach International Airport. Meanwhile, the Hungarian PM wished his former American counterpart well online.

Keep on fighting, Mr. President!” Orban tweeted, posting a picture of the two meeting at Trump’s New Jersey golf club last year. “We are with you, Donald Trump.”

Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury last week and is facing 34 criminal charges, Yahoo News reported on Tuesday. The charges were “bumped up” from misdemeanors to felonies by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, the report claimed.

Bragg’s office argues that Trump falsified records of several payments to Daniels, recording them as legal expenses. Trump’s 2016 rival, Hillary Clinton, paid a fine last year for the same offense over her campaign’s financing of the so-called ‘Steele Dossier’ –a dubiously-sourced piece of opposition research that formed the basis for the FBI’s Russiagate investigation.

Trump's dealings with Daniels were under investigation by local and federal prosecutors for several years. However, the Justice Department opted not to prosecute Trump in 2018, and Bragg’s predecessor, Cyrus Vance, let the case slide during his tenure as Manhattan’s DA.

Trump has accused Bragg of “political persecution,” and described the charges as an attempt to hinder his 2024 campaign. Nearly half of all Americans believe that the charges are justified, according to an ABC News poll. However, roughly the same number believe that the case against the former president is politically motivated.

Orban is the *only EU leader to offer Trump a gesture of supportamid his legal struggle. The Hungarian prime minister was the first foreign leader to endorse Trump’s 2016 campaign, and cultivated a close relationship with Trump during the former president’s tenure in the White House. Orban has also spoken several times at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in the US, and hosted a Hungarian offshoot of the conference in Budapest last year

(*The very first Executive Order of President Trump needs to be to withdraw from NATO, ASAP, and withdraw all American Troops from EU. It's time for the little bird to stand on it's own!)

Non-member joins latest EU sanctions against Russia

Norway has followed Brussels’ lead since the bloc began targeting the Russian economy

Norway has imposed a set of sanctions on Russiathat directly mirrorsthe EU’s tenth package of economic penalties. While the Norwegian government insists that this policy is harming the Russian economy, Oslo has also paid a price.

The latest set of sanctions was announced by the Norwegian government on Tuesday, five weeks after a near-identical package of sanctions was imposed by the EU. Norway’s new penaltiesblacklist 87 Russian individuals and 34 entities, forbid the import of several raw materials from Russia, and forbid the trade of “dual use goods,” a term used to denote technology and components with both civilian and military applications.

Every successive sanctions package imposed by the EU has been taped by Norway with slight alterations. Despite Norway not being a member of the EU, Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said that copying Brussels’ sanctions demonstrated “a strong and clear European response to Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.”

“Thesanctions are having an impacton the Russian economy and preventing key inputs from reaching the Russian war industry,” Huitfeldt stated. (KEK, such bullshit and they know it)

The EU’s sanctions, particularly its embargo on Russian fossil fuel imports, have thrown the bloc into a crisisof spiraling inflation and record energy costs. Meanwhile, the measures have failed to cripple the Russian economy, as Western politicians and experts had predicted. According to IMF figures,Russia’s economy will grow fasterthis year than Germany’s.

Like Russia, Norway is a net exporter of fossil fuels, and is therefore better positioned to weather the energy crisis than most of its EU counterparts. Oslo hasn’t been immune to blowback, however, and a$2.4 billion share of its sovereign wealth fund– a public pension fund made up of the surplus of its oil revenues –is currently frozenin a Russian bank due to Western sanctions.
