Trump condemns arrest in Mar-a-Lago speech

The former president claims he has been targeted with a long list of “fake” allegations since his 2016 election win

In a speech from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, former US President Donald Trump railed against New York prosecutors after pleading not guilty to 34 criminal counts, also accusing Democrats of political persecution and “fraudulent investigations.”

Trump delivered the address to a live audience on Tuesday night, insisting there is “no case”against him after returning home from New York, where he was arraigned on charges of falsifying business records earlier in the day.

“I never thought anything like this could happen in America… The only crime that I have committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it,” Trump said, claiming that the latest case is part of an “onslaught of fraudulent investigations” brought by Democrats.

Trump argued that since his rivals “can’t beat us at the ballot box,” they have tried to “beat us through the law,” reiterating some of his previous allegations of widespread election fraud in the 2020 presidential race. He rejected the charges against him as “fake,” arguing that their purpose is to “interfere with the upcoming 2024 election,”and should be “dropped immediately.”

Taking the tone of a presidential candidate, the former leader went on to fire a litany of criticisms at Democrats and President Joe Biden, slamming them for high inflation “crippling” the US economy, “raging crime statistics,” and “open borders” immigration policies. He warned that Biden could lead the country into “an all-out nuclear World War III,”apparently referring to US involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has accused Trump of arranging a hush-money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in order to keep her from going public about an alleged affair, and later attempting to cover up the transfer through falsified records. Prosecutors also claim he knowingly tried to conceal other crimes using falsified documents, providing a basis for felony charges rather than misdemeanors.

Trump has denied all wrongdoing, calling the indictment a “witch hunt” and “political persecution” by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who he described as a “radical left George Soros-backed prosecutor” during his speech on Tuesday night.

The DA’s office has said it expects to produce most of its evidence for discovery in the next 65 days, while Trump’s defense has until early August to file any motions against the case. Though Judge Juan Merchan has scheduled the next in-person hearing for December 4, attorneys for Trump say they hope to get the case dismissed before it can go to trial. (WTF they have no evidence of a crime?)

US to expand military training for Ukraine

Washington announced the move alongside a new $2.6 billion weapons package for Kiev

The Pentagon has said it is preparing to expand its training of Ukrainian forces, noting the instruction would focus on different types of weapons and maneuvers. While the US has sought to accelerate its shipment of Abrams main battle tanks to Kiev, training on that platform has yet to begin.

Speaking to reporters for a background briefing on Tuesday, a senior defense official said that in addition to a newly approved weapons package worth more than $2.6 billion, Washington has also “expanded US-led training” to focus on “combined arms andjoint maneuveroperations.”

Though the official provided few details on the new training, they noted that4,000 Ukrainian troopshad recently completed instruction on the US-madeBradleyfighting vehicle and theStryker armoredpersonnel carrier, both of which have been supplied to Kiev. Since fighting with Russia began last year, the Pentagon has trainedmore than 7,000Ukrainian soldiers in total, many of them in Germany, the official added.

However, asked about training for the M1 Abrams tank – which Washington has also agreed to ship to Ukraine despite initial reluctance – the official said it had not even started, as the military is “still working on the equipment procurement.” They could not provide an exact timeline for when it might begin, but hoped it could move forward “relatively soon.”

After initially refusing to send battle tanks, President Joe Biden reversed course earlier this year when Germany said it would provide its own Leopard tanks, opting to ship 31 units. Deliveries were originally set to take up to two years, prompting the Pentagon to again change course and offer an older variant of the same weapon, which could now reach thebattlefield by the fall.

The US has also instructed Ukrainian troops on a variety of other weapons systems – including thePatriot missiledefense battery on US territory – and held “combined-arms”trainingat bases in Germany.

The new weapons package announced in conjunction with the expanded training includes additional artillery rounds, rockets, missiles and other ammunition, 30mm gun trucks, grenade launchers, andJavelin anti-tank systems. The aid brought total US military assistance to Ukraine to nearly $36 billion since Biden took office in 2021.

Despite vast sums of money and weapons donated to Ukrainian forces, multiple training programs hosted by the US military, and Western intelligence support offered to Kiev, American officials continue to insistWashington is not a participantin the conflict. Moscow has repeatedly warned against foreign arms shipments to Ukraine, arguing they would not deter its military aims and only prolong the fighting.

New NATO member has lost its ‘special status’ – Moscow

Finland has forfeited its role in international affairs, becoming yet another “minor” member of the US-led bloc, Russia says

Helsinki’s decision to join the NATO alliance will have a “negative effect” on its ties with Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said. On Tuesday, Finland finalized its accession process, becoming the31st memberof the US-led military bloc.

The move will inevitably invoke Moscow’s response, the ministry said, adding that Russia continues to see the bloc’s expansion as a direct threat to its national security interests.

“As we have warned on multiple occasions, the Russian Federation will have torespond with military-technical, as well as other measures in order to address national security threats arising from Finland joining NATO,” the ministry said in a statement.

So far, Moscow has refrained from announcing anyconcretesteps it will take in response to Finland’s NATO accession. The response will depend “on the specific terms on which Finland joins NATO, including the deployment of NATO’s military infrastructure and offensive weapons on its territory,” the ministry explained.

The latest expansion of the bloc has greatly damaged the security situation in the whole of Northern Europe, which for decades “used to be one of the most stable regions in the world,” the ministry went on. “The line of contact between NATO and the Russian Federation’sborder has more than doubled,” it added, referring to the length of direct land borders between Russia and NATO’s member-states.

Apart from that, Helsinki’s move has done harm to Finland’s own international stance, Russian diplomats asserted. By joining NATO, Finland “has given up on its unique identityand lost its independence,” forfeiting the “special status in international affairs”stemming from its decades-longpolicy of non alignment.

“Finland became a minor NATO member without the possibility to influence any decisions. It haslost its abilityto have a say in international affairs,” the ministry concluded. “Make no mistake, Finland’s accession to NATO will have a negative effect on the bilateral relations between Russia and Finland.”

Can a country leave NATO?

Withdrawal from NATO

Withdrawal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is the legal and political process whereby a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisationwithdraws from the North Atlantic Treaty, and thus the country in question ceases to be a member of NATO. The formal process is stated in article 13 of the Treaty.[1] This says that any country that wants to leave must send the United States (as the depositary) a "notice of denunciation", which the U.S. would then pass on to the other countries in the alliance. After a one-year waiting period, the country that wants to leave would be out.

As of 2023, no member state has rescinded their membership, although it has been considered by several countries. Notwithstanding, a number of former *dependencies of NATO members have never applied for membership subsequent to their becoming independent states.

Procedure

Article 13 of the North Atlantic Treaty, is the article that member states use for informing other members or parties that it wishes to leave the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. It states the following:

After the Treaty has been in force for twenty years, any Party may cease to be a Party one year after its notice of denunciation has been given to the Government of the United States of America, which will inform the Governments of the other Parties of the deposit of each notice of denunciation.

This means that after 20 years since the signing of the treaty which was in 1949, thus 1969, any member state that wishes to leave just has to inform the United States that it wants to leave, and then after a year it formally leaves.[2]

*Dependent territory

This article is about external territories which enjoy a greater degree of autonomy from their parent state and function as de facto independent political entities. For subnational administrative divisions which enjoy some degree of autonomy under the national government, see Autonomous administrative division.

A dependent territory, dependent area, or dependency (sometimes referred as an external territory) is a territory that does not possess full political independence or sovereignty as a sovereign state, yet remains politically outside the controlling state's integral area.

A dependent territory is commonly distinguished from a country subdivision by being considered not to be a constituent part of a sovereign state. An administrative subdivision, instead, is understood to be a division of a state proper. A dependent territory, conversely, often maintains a great degree of autonomy from its controlling state. Historically, most colonies were considered to be dependent territories. Not all autonomous entities, though, are considered to be dependent territories.[1][failed verification] Most inhabited, dependent territories have their own ISO 3166 country codes.

Some political entities inhabit a special position guaranteed by an international treaty or another agreement, thereby creating a certain level of autonomy (e.g. a difference in immigration rules). Those entities are sometimes considered to be, or are at least grouped with, dependent territories,[2] but are officially considered by their governing states to be an integral part of those states.[2] Such an example is Åland, an autonomousregion of Finland.

Africa must ‘save the world’ from homosexuality– Ugandan president

Yoweri Museveni insists that LGBTQ people are amajor threatto the “procreation of the human race”

The African continent should lead the way in “sav[ing] the world” from homosexuality, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has declared, as he prepares to sign into law an anti-LGBTQ bill passed by the country’s parliament last month.

The bill, which Amnesty International has slammed as "appalling” and "vaguely worded,"imposes the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality" and life imprisonment for the "recruitment, promotion, and funding" of same-sex "activities" in Uganda.

The UN high commissioner for human rights has urged the president of the East African country not to sign it into law.

But Museveni insisted on Sunday at the first ever Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family Values and Sovereignty in the Ugandan city of Entebbe that homosexuality is a major threat to humanity.

“Africa should provide the lead to save the worldfrom this degeneration and decadence, which is really very dangerous for humanity,”he said.

(Amazing a “so-called third world developing country is smarter than all the rest. Because they never lost contact with earth and nature.)

“If people of opposite sex stop appreciating one another thenhow will the human race be propagated?”he inquired while interacting with lawmakers from 22 African countries and the UK who had gathered for the two-day conference.

Museveni said the existence of so-called conversion therapy meant that “homosexuality is reversible and curable" and that it "should not be preserved or propagated," but rather "confined."

The president of the east African nation also assured the gathering that there will beno comprehensive sexuality educationin Uganda, saying that children “need to grow as children.”

One LGBTQ activist who attended the conference anonymously via Zoom said African leaders were aiming to "reject American influence" and trying to come up with an "African strategy to fight homosexuality."

Anons theory: I think they are looking for evidence of crimes, when Trump leaked out they were going to arrest him, they freaked and accelerated their timeline. They planned to release a blitz of multiple cases this BS in Jan 2024, with all the others, to tie him up while full time campaigning. Trump made them reveal their plan much earlier, therefore they have no evidence.

Millions and millions, they launder the equipment for money and deposit at least 60% in Bidan and corrupt politicians hidden bank accounts. That was always their plan.

How much did Bidan get from the billion promised by Obama in 2014?

I was concerned if they didn't get him through legal means they would accelerate to HRC style revenge, but that would certainly spark a bloody civil war. This is the reason they must take Americans guns, because that is their ultimate goal.

Tucker said there are 332 million citizens in the US and 457 million guns. Above all things we must keep our guns.

Russia demands release of Ukrainian bishop

Metropolitan Pavel was arrestedafter accusing President Zelensky of religious persecution

Russia has demanded the release of Metropolitan Pavel, a senior bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), stating that it is concerned about his wellbeing.Pavel was taken into custody last weekas Kiev sought to oust UOC monks from the historic monastery which he heads.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said it was angered by the Ukrainian government’s pressure to remove the UOC from the KievPechersk Lavra. It added that Moscow is worried about the monks and priests, who “face thethreat of a physical and moral crackdown,” and claimed Pavel’s arrest was a prime example of religious persecution.

The leading bishop is being held under house arrest “in electronic shackles,” the statement remarked. It also condemned President Vladimir Zelensky for claiming last week that Ukraine was a bastion of religious freedom “in our part of Europe.” Russian diplomats branded the remarks “the pinnacle of cynicism.”

“We demand the immediate release of Metropolitan Pavel and his medical treatment,”the Foreign Ministry said.

Pavel was taken into custody last Saturday, after the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) accused him ofinciting religious hatredand “justifying and denying Russian military aggression.”

The court which ruled on his arrest was forced to interrupt proceedings when the senior cleric complained of health issues. Pavel was removed from Kiev and ordered to stay in a village 50km from the capital.

The SBU has conducted raids on UOC churches and clerics, claiming to be looking for stockpiled weapons and evidence of treason. A report by theUN’s Officeof the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said last month that the actions “could be discriminatory,” prompting a rebuke from Kiev. (WTF the UN needs to grow a spine!)

Days before his arrest, Pavel blamed Zelensky personally for the crackdown on the UOC, vowing thatGod “will not forgive this action, neither to you nor to your family.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry accused Zelensky of insulting the UOC’s ruling council by refusing to meet them and ignoring millions of people who support the church in Ukraine and beyond.

“The Kiev regime stubbornly ratchets up its policy of moral terror against citizens and the faithful,” it said.

Moscow also reiterated its criticism of theUS government for a failure to address the situation, claiming that this proved Washington cannot be an arbiter on religious freedom. US reports on the issue are “bogus propaganda and puny political hackery,” the Foreign Ministry asserted.

Bidan has singlehandedly created enemies of 50 countries or more around the world that were allies under Trump. Remember Trump took aid back from El Salvador and they still support him.
