>Let's assume that this world is really real and every being is an individual.
Define "real" and we are all one.
>Let's assume that this world is really real and every being is an individual.
Define "real" and we are all one.
>Real = everyone has a 1st perspective life experience
I have 1st person experiences in my dreams, are they "real"?
>Real, meaning, everything exists all at the same time, and not just my POV experience.
"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." - Albert Einstein
>Also, if only partial exists - meaning just a part of the world - it's not really real.
How will you ever know if anything exists outside of your rendered area? Quantum mechanics and specifically the Double slit experiment would suggest that it doesn't exist.
>the experience was real to you - so yes
Define "real"… what does it mean that it is "real to me" ?
>your experience is real.
Can I have a "real" experience in a fake world? Does my "real" experience then validate the realness of the fake world?
You've still no provided a definition for "real" you have just asserted what is "real" or not.
>not real cannot exist because by definition…
Fair enough. If that's how you define "real" I can't really argue.
But it makes this whole conversation redundant.
Just to summarize; Just buy NFTs and in-game purchases in mobile games - they're just as real as actual physical gold, right?
QR Philosophy Corner this AM, nice. I thought we were way past this.
> it's man-made which is real and still exists.
Are lies "real"?
>i have no sauce
But I must post. Kek.
We are just bouncing ideas, I have no sauce either. All is fine.
>if you believe them
So reality is subjective? Or is it shared.
Can something be "real" to me but not you?
Using my "lie" example:
If it tell you a lie, I know it's a lie and will not believe it - meaning it's not real to me. But you might believe the lie making it real to you.
If this is how it works then what is the point calling something "real"?
To the subject of emotions: I could be a BLM activist - my emotions are based on lies, or does it become "real" because of my emotions? Emotions are a poor indicator of anything.
Hey, æi anon.
Did you know that there is an uppercase æ as well?
Æ
Do with this information what you want.
>yeah you have your own unique experiences that you witnessed with your own vessel
I'm not denying that we all have subjective experiences, I'm questioning what makes those subjective experiences qualify as reality?
Are the delusions of paranoid schizophrenic real too?
>best explanation for a lie is to think of it like a magic trick.
I understand, I just (again) fail to see how this qualifies as "real". If something only exists in my mind is it still real?
>being a BLM activist would either mean you are actually a black supremacist or you were emotionally manipulated to feel threatened through propaganda.
Which was my point - does my (hypothetical) supremacist emotions or conviction to propaganda make said supremacy and propaganda "real"?
>>18644470 (me)
This topic is getting confusing… kek.
Well obviously, the act of the lie or propaganda is real and manifest - or in the case of the supremacy, it is real in the sense that some are supremacist.
So… I feel like you are conflating subjectivity with reality while I am obviously conflating truth with reality. I seem to have caught my self in a catch 22.
I would say at this point it doesn't really matter. Modern pop culture has reused many of the themes over the years, to a point where you'd probably find the original tame today.
I would recommed reading it though, if nothing else to get a sense for how long this has been foreseen.
If you're not the booksy type, a movie adaptation was made in 1984, as a kind of statement saying: "We're here now, and it didn't turn out as bad as the book described", it's pretty boring though. Although the movie is scored by Eurythmics and that is awesome.

>Then go make your own board,
Fine! I'll make my own board! With booze and hookers… In fact forget the board!
