Nope, nobody is looking into the future or past. They wrote a script, everyone is playing along. The average person lives paycheck to paycheck, they plan hundreds/thousands of years at a time. They hold the knowledge of history lost to the rest of us along w/other secrets. They may be psychopaths, but it's also possible they just know what's going on which gives them a peace of mind.
