Some rattlesnake stories:
Killed one on my property that had no rattles. Look up genetically defective curlicue tailed rattlesnake. Maybe having a rattle is getting them killed by predators (people esp.) so they're evolving.
I was laying a hose in a wash after it rained to collect water. Was crouched down with my ass about a foot from a rattlesnake, but it never rattled or moved. I'm still freaked out.
My daughter was being literally chased by a Mojave. I ran it over. And over.
I used to hunt them and eat them. Their bodies keep wiggling even after being skinned and gutted and their heads chopped off. The head can still bite too.
I stomped one with both feet once. Had no choice, it was right in the trail. I had jumped off a rock like I had done lots of times, landed on it hard and jumped back up, turned to look and it was already gone. Another time and place I almost did it again. I intended to land right where the rattlesnake was coiled up but I swear I must have levitated five feet further away.
