that's how it was built… there WAS NO "inside" to the towers. a small central concrete core and the outer structural steel shell, connected by the thinnest of metal trusses supporting each floor. the idea was to create the largest amount of open area with NO interior walls. it's why they had to blow it up… the trusses were coated with asbestos, as per NYC building codes. but the asbestos had to be removed, as per idiotic federal law. they were literally damned if they did, and damned if they didn't. then, miraculously, in an instant the towers went from a trillion dollar liability, to a $225 billion cash insurance settlement.
