Left-Wing Megadonor Is Bankrolling A Rape Lawsuit Against Donald Trump

Democratic donor and billionaire LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman is bankrolling a writer’s rape lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, his lawyers said Thursday.

Judge Kaplan denied Trump’s lawyers request for a one-month delay of the trial but granted their request to look into the matter, allowing them to question Carroll under oath for up to 60 minutes.

Carroll initially denied in October that anyone was paying her legal fees but recalled in April that “at some point her counsel secured additional funding from a nonprofit organization to offset certain expenses and legal fees,” according to the letter. The organization, American Future Republic, is backed by Hoffman, who has contributed to a number of anti-Trump causes, including paying $620,000 to a legal fund for Fusion GPS, the company behind the discredited Steele dossier.

Billionaire LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman – a Democrat megadonor – is secretly funding E. Jean Carroll’s rape case against President Trump, according to a Thursday court filing.

This DIRECTLY contradicts E. Jean Carroll’s claim during an October deposition that no one else was paying her legal bills.

E. Jean Carroll appears to have committed perjury.

In 2019, E. Jean Carroll alleged Donald Trump raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the 1990’s.

E. Jean Carroll is a mentally unwell woman who previously told CNN she fantasizes about rape.

Trump has denied the allegations and called E. Jean Carroll a “whack job” who’s “not my type.”

Carroll refiled the lawsuit in November after New York passed the Adult Survivors Act which allows adults to sue over sexual assaults that occurred decades ago.

Trump’s lawyers ripped E. Jean Carroll and her lawyers in a court filing on Thursday.

“The proposition that [Carroll] has suddenly ‘recollected’ the source of her funding for this high-profile litigation—which has spanned four years, spawned two separate actions, and been before numerous state, federal, and appellate courts—is not only preposterous, it is demonstrably false. Indeed, it simply defies logic to believe that [Carroll’s] attorneys—four of whom were present at her deposition—were unaware that their own firm had ‘secured additional funding from a nonprofit organization’ to bankroll their client’s various lawsuits and ensure their bills were being paid,” Trump’s lawyers Habba and Tacopina wrote to Judge Kaplan Thursday.

Reid Hoffman Is Funding E. Jean Carroll’s Lawsuit Against Donald Trump

Trump’s legal team claimed in a letter that Carroll didn’t disclose Hoffman’s involvement during her October 14 deposition in a related lawsuit. Now they want to reopen discovery “for the limited purpose of addressing this issue.”

The revelation was “troubling and raises significant questions that require further investigation” — meriting a one-month delay of the heavily anticipated proceedings, they wrote.

In their letter, Trump’s lawyers pointed to an exchange during Carroll’s deposition where she was asked, “Are you presently paying your counsel’s fees?” Carroll responded, “This is a contingency case.”

Trump’s attorney further pressed Carroll, asking, “So you’re not paying expenses or anything out of pocket to date, is that correct?”

“I’m not sure about expenses. I have to look that up,” Carroll said during her deposition. Trump’s team then asked, “Is anyone else paying your legal fees, Ms. Carroll?” She answered, “No.”

According to a Vanity Fair report published on Wednesday, the disgraced financier once met Mark Zuckerberg at a dinner organized by Reid Hoffman, the cofounder of LinkedIn, "a few years ago" — well after he went to jail in 2008 on charges including procuring a minor for prostitution.

Ben LaBolt, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg, confirmed that the meeting took place and said it was the only time the Facebook CEO and Epstein met. In a short statement, he told Business Insider: "Mark met Epstein in passing one time at a dinner honoring scientists that was not organized by Epstein. Mark did not communicate with Epstein again following the dinner."
