Chairman Jordan: Three-hundred and twenty-seven individuals responsible for six thousand retail thefts [New York City]…each person arrested on average, twenty times.
Nadler: We are here today in Lower Manhattan for one reason, and one reason only. The chairman is doing the bidding of Donald Trump.
Nadler: This is a weaponization of the Judiciary Committee
[laughter in room]
Nadler: The evidence shows, unfortunately, the chairman could have held this hearing back in Washington…but instead, he rushed to hold a hearing here in Manhattan, in defense of Donald Trump.
There was another recent 'field hearing' in Arizona on border security. I don't remember it happening before this session. It's a great idea.
Bragg is one hundred percent guilty of Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law, and should face the death penalty.
"Crime guns"
Bragg's policies have been the direct cause of people being killed. That would seem to allow for the death penalty.
Kessler [witness]: I don't think any place in this country is really safe, because we're awash in guns. New York City is safer than Ohio, Texas, many other places.
[worked for Schumer in the past]
Ciciline having a fit over hearing being in New York; Nadler under fire for attacking the mother of a crime victim….democrats are looking even more pathetic and corrupt than usual.
Lofgren: I also have sympathy for the officers who defended us against a MAGA mob. I think it's pretty obvious that we're in New York because of the case of New York vs Donald J, Trump.
Lofgren: Talking about the people vs Donald J. Trump, we don't have jurisdiction over that either. That's something that is a local prosecution, and it's entirely improper for the federal government, or any committee of the United States, to try and interfere in this matter.
Gaetz: To the extent that there is an impact on crime rates in major cities, I would suggest that that is exactly what you get with the Sorosization of the United States Justice System.
Jackson-Lee: We are here wrongly, because District Attorney Bragg, because of Trump; he called him, "A Soros-backed animal. A dog whistle."
Nadler is falling asleep.
Kessler looks like he is going to cry. kek
Johnson: This is a sham hearing. It's not about crime in New York. It's an effort to impede and ultimately suppress the prosecution of Donald Trump.
[democrats are the only ones bringing up President Trump]
Johnson: If republicans really wanted to stop violent crime, they would be in DC right now, working with democrats to pass common sense gun legislation, Instead, like jack-booted thugs, they've descended in New York City, using violent crime as their pretext. The MAGA republican extremists are not interested in gun violence, or even knife violence. The republican witnesses who have used their time to criticize District Attorney Bragg, have served as props in a MAGA broadway production.
[eruption in room over his outrageous comments]
Schiff: Almost three weeks ago, Donald Trump was indicted by a grand jury in Manhattan, on dozens of counts of fraud in connection with a hush money payment scheme…since the former president's indictment, the Manhattan district attorney has been the subject of countless death threats and racist diatribes…this committee has used ever means at it's disposal to disrupt, interrupt, and interfere with the prosecution, demanding documents it has no right to obtain, and no jurisdiction to demand, subpoenaing an former deputy district attorney, and threatening to subpoena the district attorney himself, and now holding this hearing in Manhattan in a vain attempt to intimidate or embarrass the prosecutorial authority.
Schiff: The GOP leadership is doing what it has done best for the last six years, and that is to act as the criminal defense council for Donald J. Trump.
Biggs: When you remove the crime-infested homicide-riddled cities from the state murder rate featured in the study [co-authored by Kessler], you dramatically lower the murder rate for that state, upending their conclusions [Kessler's], and exposing the piece for what it really is- a straight-forward attempt at political projection dressed up as a study.
Ciciline: Gun violence is now the leading cause of death of children in America!
[another phony statistic]
