Soros-Funded St Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner’s Team No-Shows Murder Trial Allowing Murderer to Go Free

There’s something very, very wrong with this individual who’s allowed to destroy the rule of law in St. Louis. Why is she allowed to carry on?

Yesterday, in a murder case in St. Louis, Kim Gartner’s prosecutors never showed up. As a result, the killer was allowed to walk free.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner could be held in contempt of court after a prosecutor in her office no-showed a murder trial Monday morning.

Judge Scott Millikan sent a notice to Gardner’s office asking her to appear before him on the morning of April 24 “to show cause why you should not be adjudged in contempt of this court.”

If Gardner fails to appear or show cause, then Judge Millikan could levy a fine against the city’s chief prosecutor, put her in jail, or both.

An assistant circuit attorney was supposed to appear for the trial of Jonathon Jones, who was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for the Sept. 6, 2021, shooting death of Brandon Scott near the Gateway Arch.

Jones and his public defender, attorney Cecilia Appleberry, were in court at 9 a.m. Monday for the scheduled start of a jury trial. When no one from the circuit attorney’s office appeared, Appleberry filed a motion to dismiss the case outright. The trial has delayed a week while Judge Millikan requests an audience with Gardner.

This latest blemish on Gardner’s public image comes just days after a prosecutor in her office abruptly resigned. Natalia Ogurkiewicz was the prosecutor in the Daniel Riley case. He’s the man accused in the tragic crash which caused Janae Edmondson to lose both her legs.

Recently Gardner’s team didn’t show up in court to enforce the law again. The repeat offender went on to hit a Tennessee volleyball player walking in St. Louis City last week — and the young girl lost her legs after she was pinned to another car.

Illinois State Senator Defends Violent, Rioting Teens in Chicago: “It’s a Mass Protest”

Looks like we have returned to the “mostly peaceful” mantra used by leftists to excuse violent, destructive behavior in their Democrat controlled havens.

Illinois State Senator Robert Peters, who represents part of Chicago, wants everyone to understand that it was just a “mass protest.”

Mobbing and beating a lone woman in a doorway? Just a protest.

Damaging cars, businesses and terrorizing the city? Just a protest.

“Since I’m a glutton for punishment and I’m sure I’m gonna get the most unhinged, crime weirdo replies but: I would look at the behavior of young people as a political act and statement,” Peters wrote on Twitter. “It’s a mass protest against poverty and segregation. Rest in peace to my mentions.”

It makes sense. Peters is a Bernie supporter.

Gender more complex than genitals, India’s top judge says

The country’s Supreme Court is hearing petitions on the recognition of same-sex marriage

A five-member constitutional bench of India’s Supreme Court started hearing arguments on several petitions that sought legal validation of same-sex marriages on Tuesday.

The hearing comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in September, 2018, which had decriminalized gay sex. That decision reversed a British colonial-era law that was initially introduced in 1861 and later enshrined in Article 377 of the Indian Constitution in 1950. The bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, heard the arguments via livestream.

The hearing began on a stormy note Tuesday, as the government, represented by Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta, stated its preliminary objections to the plea. Mehta contended that “Parliament is the only constitutionally permissible forum to decide on the creation of a new social relationship,” and thus participants in the proceedings don’t represent the views of the nation. He argued that this means the court is in no position to hear the case in the first place.

These objections were overruled as the chief justice stated he considered the matter of “seminal importance” and said he would “not allow anyone to dictate how proceedings will happen in this court.”

The judges limited the scope of the petitioners’ submissions to recognition of same-sex marriage under the Special Marriage Act of 1954, instead of religious-based personal laws, in the absence of a uniform civil code (UCC). The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been pushing for such a UCC since 1998.

US Embassy Convoy Comes Under Attack In Sudan, Ceasefire Crumbling

Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on Tuesday that a US diplomatic convoy came under intense gunfire in the capital of Sudan following multiple days of fighting between the military and a rival paramilitary group amid a struggle to rule the nation.

Blinken in statements issued from Japan called the attack, which included at least 100 rounds fired on the US embassy convoy according to international reports, a "reckless" and "irresponsible" attack and called on both sides of the raging conflict to uphold the safety and security of American diplomatic personnel.

He confirmed that none of the Americans were injured, and that the convoy came under fire despite clearly bearing diplomatic plates and a US flag.

The attackers are believed affiliated with the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Khartoum, especially given assailants from the same militia were likely behind a prior attack on the EU ambassador within his own residence.

US ambassador to Sudan John Godfrey wasn't injured in the rare incident, nor was he traveling in the US convoy when it came under fire.

The RSF has been engulfed in a battle with the country's military over several days, with two rival generals leading the civil conflict, and as the death toll mounts, soaring past 185 killed as of Tuesday. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that the spiraling conflict "is now catastrophic" for civilians and as an unfolding humanitarian disaster.

==Matt Gaetz: Weaponization Committee Can Prove Deep State Interference in 2020 Election

Florida Matt Gaetz says the House==

Weaponization Committee can prove the deep state interfered in the 2020 Election on behalf of Joe Biden…

Congressman Matt Gaetz said on Monday that the United States Congress Weaponization Committee has proof via depositions and testimony that the Deep State colluded with the Biden campaign to affect the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Gaetz explained the connections between the Biden campaign and the FBI, saying, “So people know who Mike Morell is former Deputy Director of the CIA, former Acting Director of the CIA, he wanted to be Joe Biden’s CIA Director got a phone call from Tony Blinken who was representing the Biden campaign saying ‘gee Mike doesn’t this Hunter Biden laptop look like Russian disinformation?’ Morell testifies that it triggers him to be the ring leader of an enterprise to put together a letter for the specific purpose of use of Joe Biden in the presidential debate. ”

The letter Gaetz referred to was signed by 51 intelligence officials claiming that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation. Biden used the letter to attack Trump in the debates, accusing him of spreading Russian disinformation.

Gaetz went on to confidently say that he can prove the Biden campaign colluded with the CIA to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story saying, “Everything I am telling you I can fully collaborate with records and testimony.”

Gaetz says he will get more answers about the Deep State’s interference in the 2020 election, “That is why every day this week I will be conducting depositions as a part of what we are doing on the Weaponization Subcommittee we are rocking and rolling to get to the bottom of it.”

Gaetz ended his remarks by saying the Weaponization Committee has proof the Deep State created the Hunter Biden laptop letter to affect the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, “We can prove the entire purpose of this letter on the onset was to influence a presidential election with some of the most senior people who have ever been in our intelligence community.”

The Weaponization Committee’s last public hearing was on March 30th. Another public hearing is expected to be announced soon.

Brazilian Hackers Linked to Lula Arrested in Paraguay Election Rigging Scheme

South American elections are under siege…

Brazilian hackers linked to the country’s left-wing President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula), have been arrested in the neighboring nation of Paraguay where they had traveled in what authorities say was an attempt to rig the upcoming Paraguayan Presidential Election by hacking into its computer servers, much in the same way that Brazil’s recent election is alleged to have been rigged and stolen.

According to emerging reports and government statements, 20 hackers linked to Lula and the left-wing Brazilian Workers’ Party illegally entered Paraguay “with the aim of interfering in the April 30 elections.” It is on April 30th that the South American nation will go to the polls for a presidential election, which is expected to be a close competition between the right-wing Colorado Party and the left-wing Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA).

The PLRA candidate, Efrain Alegre, is not just being supported by Lula and a wide swath of Latin American leftists, but by the World Economic Forum, as Klaus Schwab has expressed his support for the campaign. Based on the current information, Alegre’s campaign appears close to the election theft scheme.

Despite being a sparsely populated landlocked nation, Parguay plays a pivotal role in geopolitics and has long been a hotbed for government and NGO-backed drug trafficking, with the nation’s vast jungles serving as a cover for massive trafficking and drug production operations.

“URGENT: The Public Ministry of Paraguay is investigating the illegal stay of 20 Brazilian hackers who entered the country illegally with the aim of interfering in the April 30 elections,” reported Brazilian journalist Oswaldo Eustáquio, who currently lives in Paraguay, having fled political persecution from the left-wing Lula government in his native Brazill.

“[The] Digital criminals are directly linked to Lula’s team in 2022,” Eustáquio explained.

Former Rep. Liz Cheney to publish book ‘warning’ of Trump ‘threat’

Former Rep. Liz Cheney’s upcoming tell-all is being described by her publisher as a “warning” about the threat to American democracy posed by former President Donald Trump and his allies.

Little, Brown and Company calls the book by Cheney, one of two Republicans on the House select committee that investigated Trump’s actions in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot a “gripping first-hand account from inside the hall of Congress … by the House Republican leader who dared to stand up to it.”

Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, lost her Wyoming congressional seat last August after her role on the committee drew the ire of Trump and he backed a primary challenger against her.

“The last two years have shown us once again that our constitutional republic is not self-sustaining,” Cheney said in a statement to Axios.

“It survives only because of the courage and honor of individual Americans. When history looks back on this time, each elected official will have to answer the questions: Did we do our duty? Were we faithful to our oath of office?” added Cheney, who calls herself a “constitutional conservative.”

Odd Spiral Appears Amid Northern Lights in Alaska Night Sky

ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Northern light enthusiasts got a surprise mixed in with the green bands of light dancing in the Alaska skies: A light baby blue spiral resembling a galaxy appeared amid the aurora for a few minutes.

The cause early Saturday morning was a little more mundane than an alien invasion or the appearance of a portal to the far reaches of the universe. It was simply excess fuel that had been released from a SpaceX rocket that launched from California about three hours before the spiral appeared.

Sometimes rockets have fuel that needs to be jettisoned, said space physicist Don Hampton, a research associate professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute.

“When they do that at high altitudes, that fuel turns into ice,” he said. “And if it happens to be in the sunlight, when you’re in the darkness on the ground, you can see it as a sort of big cloud, and sometimes it’s swirly.”

While not a common sight, Hampton said he’s seen such occurrences about three times.

The appearance of the swirl was caught in time-lapse on the Geophysical Institute’s all-sky camera and shared widely. “It created a bit of an Internet storm with that spiral,” Hampton said.

Photographers out for the northern lights show also posted their photos on social media.

The rocket took off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California Friday night with about 25 satellites as its payload.

It was a polar launch, which made it visible over a large swath of Alaska.

The timing of the fuel dump was timed correctly for visibility over Alaska. “And we got that really cool looking spiral thing,” he said.

While it looked like a galaxy going over Alaska, he assures it wasn’t.

“I can tell you it’s not a galaxy,” he said. “It’s just water vapor reflecting sunlight.”

In January, another spiral was seen, this time over Hawaii’s Big Island. A camera at the summit of Mauna Kea, outside the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan’s Subaru telescope, captured a spiral swirling through the night sky.

Researchers have said it was from the launch of a military GPS satellite that lifted off earlier on a SpaceX rocket in Florida.

Mexico’s President Attacks U.S. DEA for Investigating Sinaloa Cartel

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador harshly criticized the U.S. government over an ongoing investigation into the Sinaloa Cartel. The president stated U.S. authorities not only sent informants into the criminal organization but also tapped the communications of military forces and their response to cartels.

“An abusive intrusion, prepotent, that should not be accepted under any motive,” Lopez Obrador said during his morning news conference claiming he had not been told about any investigation.

The Mexican politician said he doesn’t have a problem sharing information but that any “intervention” should be done by his forces, not U.S. authorities.

Late last week, the U.S. Department of Justice announced a series of new indictments against a faction of the Sinaloa cartel known as Los Chapitos, accusing them of being the largest distributors of fentanyl and largely to blame for the current overdose crisis, Breitbart Texas reported. That group is currently led by the sons of the imprisoned cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.

During that announcement, U.S. officials claimed to have infiltrated the Sinaloa Cartel at the highest level. According to Mexican journalist Peniley Ramirez, that infiltration was in fact three informants with key roles in the organization.

Lopez Obrador said that in the next series of international talks, they would be bringing up the topic because DEA agents will not be able to “come and go” as they had in the past.

A story by the Washington Post also claimed that U.S. authorities had accessed communications within Mexico’s military and Navy in connection with their response to drug cartels and an apparent rivalry between the two branches.

“We can’t allow acts of espionage just so they can know what our security institutions are doing,” the Mexican president said. “In due time we will tell them about the conditions for collaboration.”

As Breitbart Texas reported, Lopez Obrador is the same Mexican politician who claimed that the war on drugs was over after taking office. He also ordered the release of Ovidio Guzman Lopez, one of El Chapo’s sons soon after federal police forces had arrested him in Sinaloa. Currently, Ovidio is in a Mexican prison fighting his extradition to the U.S. following a second arrest by Mexican federal forces, Breitbart Texas reported.

Angel Merkel, Queen of Migrant and Energy Crises Gets Germany’s Highest Award

Former Chancellor Anglea Merkel was awarded Germany’s highest honour of merit on Monday despite a questionable legacy including ushering in the European Migrant Crisis and leaving her country in a state of dependence on Russia after her failed green energy push.

In Germany, every Federal Chancellor is awarded a Federal Cross of Merit after leaving office, however, it is up to the Federal President to determine which of the eight levels of merit the chancellor receives. On Monday, it was announced that Chancellor Angela Merkel would receive the highest order of merit, the “Grand Cross” for her 16 years in office.

The honour has only been bestowed on two other chancellors, Konrad Adenauer, who oversaw the Western integration of Germany following the Second World War, and Helmut Kohl, who led the country through unification following the fall of the Berlin Wall. The prestigious award has also been granted to foreign heads of state, including Russia’s Mikhail Gorbachev, French wartime leader Charles de Gaulle, and the leader of the Velvet Revolution and the last president of Czechoslovakia, Vaclav Havel.

The decision to bestow the honour upon Merkel from now-President Frank-Walter Steinmeier — her longtime foreign minister who led the nation’s disastrous policy on Russia — has sparked controversy, with many pointing to her record of failure, particularly on energy and immigration.

Even a leading member of her former political party, CDU Vice President Carsten Linnemann said that while Merkel had some “great merits”, he acknowledged that “mistakes were also made, even blatant ones.”

“In the case of migration, blatant mistakes were made that we did not protect the borders. This should be addressed just as openly as the positives.” Linnemann said, adding that Merkel’s decision to phase out nuclear power “was a mistake in the form at the time, without saying how we want to supply ourselves with energy reasonably self-sufficiently.”

Andreas Rödder, the head of the CDU Fundamental Values Commission, added that he believed that handing Merkel the award is “a mistake with which the Federal President harms democracy and its credibility.”

Angela Merkel’s legacy has severely waned following her exit from office a year and a half ago, principally on her failures to heed warnings — from former President Donald Trump, among others — on the threat posed by relying on Vladimir Putin’s Russia for energy, which following the invasion of Ukraine sparked economic and energy crises in the European Union’s main manufacturing hub.

In October of last year, it was revealed in a declassified document that was drafted four months before the February invasion of Ukraine that Merkel’s government foolishly believed that increasing dependency on Russian gas with the now sidelined Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would “not jeopardise” Germany’s energy security.

The decision to ignore warnings from former President Donald Trump, who told Merkel in 2018 that Nord Stream 2 would leave Germany “captive” to the political whims of Russia’s Vladimir Putin, turned out to be disastrous for Germany in the months after her resignation, with tens of tens of billions of euros being wiped from the German economy and people and businesses forced to ration their energy usage.

Report: 200 US Military Trainers are Now in Taiwan

The Pentagon declined to comment on the report but affirmed its support for the island

The US has sent over 200 troops to Taiwan, significantly increasing the US military presence on the island, Taiwan News reported on Monday.

The report cited sources who spoke with Up Media and said US Indo-Pacific Command deployed more than 200 personnel to Taiwan to assist the island’s armed forces with training.

The Taiwanese news agency CNA also reported about 200 US military advisors are now stationed across Taiwan. When asked to confirm the deployment, the Pentagon declined to comment but affirmed its support for Taipei.

“We don’t have a comment on specific operations, engagements, or training, but I would highlight that our support for, and defense relationship with, Taiwan remains aligned against the current threat posed by the People’s Republic of China,” Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Marty Meiners told Antiwar.com in an email.

“Our commitment to Taiwan is rock-solid and contributes to the maintenance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and within the region,” Meiners added.

The Wall Street Journal first reported in February that the US planned to deploy between 100 and 200 troops to Taiwan. The US previously had only about 30 troops on the island.

Since Washington severed diplomatic relations with Taipei in 1979, the US still deployed a handful of military trainers to Taiwan. The small US military presence in Taiwan was always an open secret but was never officially confirmed until 2021 when President Tsai Ing-wen became the first Taiwanese leader to acknowledge US troops were on the island since 1979.

The increase in US troops in Taiwan risks provoking a response from China, as Beijing has been strongly warning against growing US-Taiwan ties. China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) recently conducted major live-fire exercises around Taiwan in response to Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen’s meeting with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in California.

Loudoun Schools To Make Bathrooms Co-Ed To Accommodate Trans Students

Loudoun County, Virginia’s public schools are spending nearly $11 million to renovate the bathrooms at two high schools to make them co-ed in an attempt to stop transgender students from feeling left out — two years after a boy wearing a skirt brutally raped a ninth-grade girl in a bathroom.

One of the high schools is Broad Run High School, where the boy abducted and sexually assaulted a girl in a classroom after Loudoun County Public Schools quietly transferred him there after he was arrested for the bathroom rape at another school.

The $10.9 million renovation in two schools is a pilot for a change that the school board is considering making at all of its schools, WJLA reported.

In order to make teenage girls more comfortable sharing a bathroom with boys, the stalls would be floor to ceiling, preventing anyone from seeing who is in the bathroom or what they are doing. Documents from the March 14 school board meeting show what it could look like.

A grand jury investigating the school system’s handling of the rape — and which indicted the superintendent for allegedly lying when he said the school system had no record of bathroom sexual assaults — found that during the rape in Stone Bridge High School’s girls bathroom, a staff member walked in and the gap under the stall door allowed her to see that multiple people were in it.

However, the teacher did nothing, despite coming into the stall while the girl was lying on the floor with the boy on top of her, and realizing that there were two people in there, the grand jury report said. “She testified that this was not an uncommon occurrence, because ‘somebody could have their period. They might need a tampon. Or somebody had a boyfriend they had a fight with,'” the grand jury said.

The rapist himself suggested that LCPS officials routinely turned a blind eye to multiple people in a stall, saying “They usually don’t do anything” about it, according to the grand jury.

U.S. And Bill Gates Partner To Provide Millions For ‘Digital Gender Equality’ In Africa

The U.S. Agency For International Development (USAID) is partnering with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to promote “digital gender equality” in Africa and around the world by providing millions in taxpayer and private funds for the project.

The money will come from the newly inaugurated Women in Digital Economy Fund announced by Vice President Kamala Harris, and will go toward organizations that provide women with phones, “media literacy,” and do research on responding to “social norms” in the technological world, among other initiatives.

“Working with Congress, USAID plans to commit up to $50 million in Gender Equity and Equality Action (GEEA) fund resources toward this effort over the next four years, subject to the availability of funds, and the Gates Foundation will commit $10 million, with at least half of each of these commitments focused on Africa,” USAID announced on Monday.

USAID said the initiative was a good opportunity for public and private sector collaboration. The fund will “support, wherever possible, women-led solutions, products, and tools,” according to the development agency.

The “digital gender equity” push comes as USAID released a new “gender equality and women’s empowerment” framework last month that suggested ensuring access to abortion as a policy goal to support around the world.

According to the policy, one goal of USAID was helping to bring “improved access, quality, and use of health care for all individuals across the life course — including gender-diverse and LGBTQI+ individuals — with a particular focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights.”

“USAID affirms that the promotion of the rights of gender-diverse individuals — those with a gender identity beyond the binary categories of man or woman — is integral to the advancement of gender equality,” the new framework added.

This tied into another goal of USAID described in the framework of strengthening “health services to provide integrated, client-centered, respectful, gender-affirming, and high-quality care.”

USAID has previously supported the launch of “India’s first transgender clinic,” which provides “guidance and medication on hormone therapy and gender affirmation procedures.”

Other entities in the Biden administration have also pushed gender ideology abroad, which has included pushing other countries to expand legal identifications from male and female to promoting transgender health clinics.

For example, the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata aided in the opening of “the first transgender clinic in eastern India,” in February 2020, according to Share America, the State Department’s news platform.

Elsewhere in India, the U.S. Consulate Chennai has promoted

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan believes there’s been a seismic shift regarding allegations against President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

Jordan suggested “something is up” with the probe because of a new interest in the story by many of the same media outlets that initially dismissed reports of corruption evidence stemming from materials and emails obtained from a laptop he reportedly abandoned at a computer repair store in Delaware in 2019.

“Well, what happened to that is you had 51 intelligence officers sign a letter saying that this Hunter Biden story was Russian misinformation when it wasn’t, and that changed — I think anyone can make a credible argument that that altered the outcome of the election and we no longer have Donald Trump in the White House because he was doing that, he was pushing back on China for the first time. And now, we have Joe Biden there and it’s exactly the opposite direction,” Jordan said.

“So that’s what happened. That’s why this is all connected because the influence of big media, big tech, and big government in impacting our election — I think we said this last week, Sean. My colleagues had this in the committee a few weeks ago, Matt Gaetz. He said, when will the FBI stay out of elections and let us, the people, decide? In 2016, they went after Trump’s campaign, 2018, it was a Mueller investigation, 2020, they suppressed the Hunter Biden story, 2022, 91 days before the midterm election, they raid his home, and now, just two weeks ago, three days after he announces for the 2024 race, they name a special counsel and it’s not just anybody, it’s Jack Smith and the record that he has of weaponizing the government to go after the people,” Jordan continued.

“It sure looks like Joe Biden was involved,” Jordan added. “So, my, how this story has changed. And now, we find out these text messages and emails that link the entire family, not just Hunter and Joe and — but also uncle, the — Joe’s brother, James Biden, is involved in this as well.”

Jordan also spoke over the weekend about how he believes Republican district attorneys will “likely” seek to prosecute Biden or members of his family after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s “weaponized prosecution” of former President Donald Trump, the New York Post reported.

Disneyland Will Host First Ever Pride Nite During ‘After Dark’ Series

Disneyland announced late last week that the California-based theme park will host its first-ever Pride Nites as part of the park’s “After Dark” series in June.

The LGBTQIA+ event — dubbed “Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite” — will be the first of its kind to be held in the self-described “happiest place on earth” and will extend for two nights, June 13th and June 15th.

“The first-ever Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite is coming to @Disneyland during Pride Month in June,” Disney tweeted from the brand account. “This separately ticketed event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and allies will have themed entertainment, Disney characters, specialty menu items & more.”

A report from ABC News laid out some of the entertainment attendees could expect to take part in during those events, including but not limited to “Pride Night Cavalcade, an Ohana Dance Party in Tomorrowland featuring Stitch, a Pride Night Dance Club at the Rivers of America and a country line dancing event at the Golden Horseshoe.”

The event is also expected to feature a number of favorite Disney characters, who will be available throughout the events to take photos with guests.

The evenings are scheduled to begin with a pre-event mixer party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by the main event from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. — during which time patrons will also be able to enjoy the park’s other rides and attractions.

The news comes as Disney continues to battle Florida Governor Ron DeSantis — who has vowed to ensure that the increasingly-woke corporation abide by the same rules and regulations as other businesses in his state after years of self-governance and autonomy.

Bombshell Senate GOP report: COVID leaked from Wuhan lab where US funded gain-of-function research

Even as U.S. continues to provide funding to China for viral research, there are still no U.S. scientists in Chinese labs overseeing such U.S.-backed research, according to Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.).

Kansas Republican Sen. Roger Marshall is warning that a new virus could break out of China and cause another worldwide pandemic as he releases "Muddy Waters," a comprehensive new report on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ranking member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and staff reviewed more than 50,000 documents for the report, which found that the COVID-19 virus was created in a lab and the outbreak was likely the result of two unintentional lab leaks.

"This report concludes most likely this was two leaks," Marshall said during a briefing with reporters ahead of the release of the report. "The possibility of a lab leak in the September-October [2019] time frame, even as early as July or August, was followed by vaccine development in November 2019. And then another lab leak seems to be the most sensible explanation in this retrospective review."

The report determined that the U.S. government was funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

"I think we're in no better shape today than we were a year ago, three years ago, as far as I'm concerned," Marshall said in response to a question from Just the News.

"There's nothing proving to me that they're doing this type of research in BSL-4 labs," he continued. "Their own documents continue to show that they're understaffed, that they don't have the right facilities to do it in, a huge concern. That's why we've been calling for a halt in all viral gain-of-function research until we get the guardrails around it."

The NIH has "manipulated gain-of-function to be what they say it is and what it isn't, and then they get all lawyered up," alleged Marshall, an obstetrician.

Marshall said viral research should never be done outside of a BSL-4 lab. According to the National Institutes of Health, BSL-4 labs have "the most stringent safety and security requirements."

Marshall said the U.S. government continues to provide funding to China for viral research but to date there are no U.S. scientists in Chinese labs overseeing such U.S.-backed research.

"If we're funding it, then they need to conform to our rules, and we need American boots on the ground," he said, referring to China.

FBI Ordered to Release Files That Called Parents Terrorists

A federal judge ruled last week that the Federal Bureau of Investigation must provide documents related to a 2021 letter that called parents domestic terrorists.

The agency initially described those parents, who were protesting issues like critical race theory, as serious threats in response to the National School Boards Association's plea for assistance.

After the memorandum went public on Oct. 3, 2021, backlash arose at Attorney General Merrick Garland's decision to create a task force to investigate the parents — which consisted of the FBI, U.S. attorneys' offices, and local law enforcement.

The government watchdog group Protect the Public's Trust filed a Freedom of Information Act request days later for all documents or correspondence by the Department of Justice on the task force.

However, Judge Trevor McFadden of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia wrote in a new order that the DOJ was dragging its feet in response to the FOIA request, the Washington Examiner reported.

McFadden said that the FBI failed to prove the request was unreasonable and offered "scant evidence for summary judgment," rejecting two motions that sought to dismiss the case or have it decided in the agency's favor.

Although the NSBA has since retracted and apologized for the letter, Garland has continued defending it. He told the House Judiciary Committee in a 2021 hearing that "true threats of violence are not protected by the First Amendment."

"We are not investigating peaceful protests or parent involvement in school board meetings," Garland insisted. "There is no precedent for doing that, and we would never do that. We are only concerned about violence and threats of violence against school administrators, teachers, [and] staff."

PPT informed the Examiner that they were happy with the court's ruling.

"There is evidence the FBI participated in targeting parents who protested to protect their kids, and their effort to dismiss this case could be an attempt to conceal the extent of their role in it," stated PPT Director Michael Chamberlain.

"Yet again, the FBI finds itself at the center of a Biden Administration effort to weaponize the government against the American public," he added.
