Explanation of Catholic belief:

I've been seeing lots of anti-Catholic sentiment in the notables, some of which I agree with, the rest I don't.

I'm a Catholic. Anyone who can truly call themselves Catholic agrees with the Church's teaching, namely, that it was instituted by the Holy Spirit and is guided the Holy Spirit still today. Because of this, the Church cannot error. That also means that my allegiance is to the Church first, then my country. Every other true Catholic will agree on that point.

With all that said, the fact that the Church is divinely instituted means that it's the number one target of the forces of Hell. They can't overcome the Church itself, but they can overcome the people within the Church.

It's obvious to anyone who believes in the Catholic faith that the Church has been filled with demonic forces, not just in recent years, but throughout history. Most people in power in the Church do not profess the values of the Church. My loyalty lies with the institution, not the individuals or the groups they form (Knights of Malta, Knights of Columbus, Jesuits, etc.).

I bring this up because I think it makes sense that the Vatican played a part in 9/11, but it doesn't reduce my faith in the Church, in the same way that it makes sense that Bush played a part in 9/11, but it doesn't reduce my faith in the U.S. It seems to me that the trouble the U.S. is facing comes from the same source as the trouble the Church has faced since it started.

"My prayer is that there are cardinals and others full of the light of Jesus to at least keep the faith. Its quite infested with evil."

It's the Catholic belief that that is Christ's promise, that the gates of Hell will not prevail against the Church. And there are good leaders in the Church; there's just a whole lot of bad ones too.

"The original church was not in Rome. It was not until the 3rd century the leader validated Catholicism"

To tell you the truth, I don't know much about Church history, or when it was officially moved to Rome. That's not where my faith in it stems from, and I don't know if I can properly articulate why I believe in the Catholic faith. Insofar as I've examined Church teachings, they make sense to me. But that's not the reason I believe.
