Consul General of Poland in New York confirms US money going to Poland to build nuclear power plants

The U.S. government signed a deal earlier this week with Poland that will help the country develop small nuclear power reactors

Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York, Adrian Kubicki, confirmed Tuesday that the U.S. has a deal with Poland to help them build more nuclear power plants.

"The US also had meetings with representatives of the companies that will run this project in Poland with the nuclear power plant," Kubicki said on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "And we're sure that in a few years time- this is a few years project, ensures Poland will have the first nuclear power plant established and opened."

The U.S. government signed a deal earlier this week with Poland that will help the country develop small nuclear power reactors and become less dependent on domestic coal.

Poland is moving toward renewable energy and trying to become less dependent on domestic coal and that effort has been accelerated by Russia's invasion, which has prompted Poland to become less dependent on Russian oil and gas, according to the Associated Press.

"[W]e're actually one of the fastest in Europe in that field, in becoming independent from Russia and natural resources from fossil fuels," Kubicki said.

He said that Poland overall is looking forward to this deal and what will come from it.

"We're very happy that we can use this great experience and expertise of American partners in that field," Kubicki said.

Littlest intruder: Toddler crawls through White House fence

WASHINGTON (AP) — A curious toddler on Tuesday earned the title of one of the tiniest White House intruders after he squeezed through the metal fencing on the north side of the executive mansion.

U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers, who are responsible for security at the White House, walked across the North Lawn to retrieve the tot and reunite him with his parents on Pennsylvania Avenue. Access to the complex was briefly restricted while officers conducted the reunification. Officers briefly questioned the parents before allowing them to continue on their way.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said officers “encountered a curious young visitor along the White House north fence line who briefly entered White House grounds.”

“The White House security systems instantly triggered Secret Service officers and the toddler and parents were quickly reunited,” he said in a statement.

It may be the first successful intrusion onto the complex since the White House fence was doubled in height to roughly 13 feet (3.96-meters) in recent years after a series of security breaches. While taller, the new fence has an additional inch of space between pickets, for a total of 5½ inches (12.7 centimeters) between posts.

Older children have sometimes become stuck in the iconic barrier, which has also been the scene of demonstrations, with protesters chaining themselves to the fence.
