Karine Jean-Pierre Claims Hunter and Valerie Biden Paid Their Own Way in Ireland

Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday insisted Hunter Biden and Valerie Biden paid their own way in Ireland.

Joe Biden, his son Hunter and grifter sister Valerie traveled to Ireland last week for a taxpayer-funded vacation.

Biden proudly introduced them during a stop at a pub.

Hunter and Valerie flew to Ireland on Air Force One with Joe, however, Karine Jean-Pierre claimed they paid their own way.

Hunter Biden flew on Air Force One. Did they pay for, did they contribute air fare, accommodations, ground transportation – what,” a reporter asked Karine Jean-Pierre.

Karine Jean-Pierre insisted the Bidens followed all protocols like every other president has when family members travel on Air Force One.

“Yes, they paid their own way,” Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Victorian Premier speaks on anti-corruption report

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is due to address the media this morning.

It comes after the state’s anti-corruption commission issued a damning assessment of the centralisation of power under the premier’s watch and the “significant erosion” of ministerial accountability.

In case you missed it earlier, the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission found that Premier Daniel Andrews’ staff pressured public servants over a multi-million dollar union contract.

Australian State Media starts kissing the CCP's ass - Rothschild funded propaganda

Chinese Australians experiencing less abuse but still face discrimination, according to Lowy report

A new poll has found that the number of Chinese Australians facing racist abuse or physical violence has decreased over the past three years, although more than one in three continue to say they face discrimination.

Key points:

Twenty-one per cent of respondents said they were called offensive names in 2022

The poll found Anthony Albanese enjoys strong support in the Chinese Australian community

The majority of respondents thought it unlikely China would pose a military threat to Australia

The Lowy Institute's third Being Chinese in Australia survey has found that 21 per cent of Chinese-Australians said they were called offensive names because of their heritage in 2022 – down four points from 2021, and 10 points from 2020.

The number of Chinese Australians reporting being physically threatened and attacked has also dropped slightly – from 18 per cent in both 2020 and 2021, to 14 per cent in 2022.

It is not clear exactly what is driving the decrease, but the bilateral relationship between Australia and China has gradually improved since Labor won power in last year's federal election.

Many Chinese Australians also blamed the outbreak of racism and violence towards the community in 2020 on the distrust generated by the outbreak of COVID-19 in China.

Those tensions may have eased as the pandemic enters its fourth year and memories of lockdowns and other emergency health measures fade.

The Lowy Institute survey also maps Chinese Australian attitudes to political leaders in Australia and across the globe, as well as community attitudes to media, disinformation and major geopolitical events.

The poll finds that Anthony Albanese enjoys strong support in the Chinese Australian community, with six in 10 of those surveyed having either "a lot" or "some" confidence in the prime minister.

That puts him ahead of all the other leaders the Lowy Institute asked about, including former New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern at 49 per cent and Chinese President Xi Jinping at 42 per cent.

But Chinese Australians remain far more trusting of Xi Jinping than most other Australians: only 11 per cent of the broader Australian community expressed any faith in the Chinese president in the most recent survey.

Similarly, more than six in 10 Chinese Australians expressed a level of trust in China in this poll, compared to just 12 per cent of the Australian population.

Andrew Bogut wants Basketball Australia to do more after its decision to ban Lexi Rodgers from elite level competitions

Andrew Bogut has welcomed Basketball Australia's decision to ban trans athlete Lexi Rodgers, but he doesn't believe the fight is over with many still complaining to him about trans athletes "playing in those sports and hurting young girls".

Former NBA star Andrew Bogut has thrown his support behind Basketball Australia’s decision not to allow transgender athlete Lexi Rodgers to play in a semi-professional Victorian competition.

Basketball Australia on Tuesday declared Rodgers was “ineligible” for elite level competitions after an investigation and consultation with an expert panel amid backlash from the sporting community.

Bogut – a former captain of Australia's nation team, the Boomers – has been a vocal advocate for keeping trans athletes out of female sports, saying it was the right decision but more was needed to protect female competitions.

“The fight’s not over and why I say that because when you look at local junior sports this is still rife it’s still everywhere so this is a win for semi-professional sport,” he told Sky News Australia host Paul Murray on Tuesday night.

“But what I hear from the community, people messaging me, is there’s netball leagues, rugby league, basketball, volleyball, whatever it is, there’s males who transitioned to females playing in those sports and hurting young girls and that’s still okay to this day.”

However, Bogut has suggested opening up a “third category” for trans athletes who wanted to compete at a high level.

He insisted “there’s a lot of people who are really angry” about trans athletes competing in community and junior level sports where regulatory bodies, such as Basketball Australia, cannot investigate and intervene with every case.

“I guess my message to those people in junior sports and families is show up to your game and (if) you’re not okay with it, protest the game," he said.

"If you’re a 100 metre runner and you show up get everyone on the page so when that gun goes off none of you run. That’s the only way this is going to stop.

“A lot of these local community sport organisations are very arrogant, they take their fees and the messaging that I’ve got from people who have complained is: ‘If you don’t like it leave go somewhere else’, and that’s just not right especially when it is a silent majority.”
