Marc Elias and the Democrat Party Accused of “Possible Criminal Violations of Both the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) and the Federal Criminal Code”

Marc Elias was Hillary Clinton’s attorney during her failed run for the Presidency in 2016. He is now being accused of possible criminal violations of both the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) and the federal Criminal Code.

Marc Elias was Hillary’s attorney in her failed attempt to win the Presidential election in 2016 but he became famous after the 2020 Election. Elias went around the nation and got himself involved in numerous actions and lawsuits in an effort to put in place mail-in ballots and ballot drop boxes. These efforts allowed the Democrat Party to drop off ballots in the election that were not validated for where they came from (i.e. millions of ballots lacked chain of custody documentation) nor were they validated for who they came from (i.e. signature checks were not performed).

This strategy helped the Democrats steal the 2020 Election.

Elias was eventually called out by even Democrats.

Counsel for the Committee to Defeat the President, Dan Backer, sent a letter last week to the DOJ encouraging them to look into alleged illegal actions committed by Marc Elias and the DCCC.

FOX News reported on the requesting that they look into Marc Elias and the Democrat Party:

“Americans deserve to know the truth about the Democratic Party’s shady money laundering schemes, especially when campaign funds are supposed to be spent in one way and they get spent in another,” Backer said.

“Based on the Committee’s robust research, and Elias’ own shady past, it seems pretty clear that Elias and other Democrats have engaged in false reporting, and that cannot go unchecked,” he continued.

A letter from the FEC obtained by Fox News Digital acknowledged the receipt of the complaint.

In the letter, Backer wrote to Heberle about “possible criminal violations of both the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) and the federal Criminal Code” allegedly committed by the DCCC and Elias Law Group.

“I hope that you will not allow the Biden Administration’s political appointees within the Department of Justice to allow President Biden’s close political allies to gain an unfair advantage in the electoral process by violating federal criminal law with impunity,” Backer wrote.

Backer pointed out the “FECA requires each political committee to report to the FEC the purpose of each of its operating expenditures over $200” and that in “a series of FEC filings over the course of 2021 and 2022, the DCCC reported making a total of $5,177,460.62 in payments between October 19, 2021, and July 15, 2022, to Elias Law Group for ‘RECOUNT LEGAL [SERVICES].’”

US urges ratification of Sweden’s NATO bid

Defense chief Lloyd Austin says Washington is looking forward to the Nordic state joining the bloc this summer

The US has reiterated its support for Sweden’s NATO membership as Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin visited the country to meet with his Swedish counterpart, marking the first time a Pentagon chief has visited the Nordic state in over 20 years.

Austin told reporters at a press conference that Washington “looks forward to soon welcoming Sweden as the 32nd” member of NATO, and said the US hopes this happens before the upcoming NATO summit in July.

The defense chief urged Türkiye and Hungary, the last two NATO members yet to approve Stockholm’s membership, to ratify the accession as soon as possible.

Last May, Sweden and Finland renounced their longstanding neutrality and submitted bids to join the US-led military bloc, citing the perceived threat from Russia due to its military operation in Ukraine.

However, in order to be accepted into the bloc, the membership application must first be ratified by all current member states. This process was blocked by Hungary and Türkiye, with Ankara accusing the Nordic states of supporting Kurdish “terrorist groups” such as the Kurdistan’s Workers’ Party (PKK).

While Finland’s bid was eventually ratified by both Ankara and Budapest in late March, with the country officially joining the bloc earlier this month, Sweden’s NATO bid has remained in limbo.

The Turkish authorities claim that Stockholm has not yet fully addressed its grievances, while Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused it of “spreading blatant lies about Hungary, about the rule of law in Hungary, about democracy, about life here.”

Both Sweden and Finland have been fiercely critical of Hungary’s conservative government. Both support the EU’s withholding of funds from Budapest over Orban’s supposed stifling of LGBTQ and migrant rights, as well as judicial independence concerns.

New Russian ‘LGBTQ propaganda’ rules unveiled

Media watchdog Roskomnadzor will block websites that promote pedophilia, non-traditional relationships, and gender reassignment

Russian media watchdog Roskomnadzor officially approved on Wednesday an expanded set of criteria for what is to be considered ‘LGBTQ propaganda’, which can be grounds to block access to websites.

This comes after the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications issued an order to broaden and specify the definitions of LGBTQ propaganda and pedophilia online.

The new set of norms will come into effect on September 1, and will be valid for the next six years, according to the document, which was published on Russia’s official internet portal of legal information.

Under the order, Roskomnadzor will be authorized to block access to websites that feature content depicting children imitating or taking part in sexual activities, child genitalia in a sexual context, information about obtaining, creating, or sharing child pornography, as well as content aimed at provoking sexual attraction towards children or justifying sexual relations with minors.

The watchdog will also be able to block websites that promote and arouse interest in non-traditional sexual relationships and that attempt to portray them in a positive light or as superior to traditional relationships. Sites that try to create a “distorted idea of the social equivalence of traditional and non-traditional sexual relations, preferences and attitude” will also be banned, as will websites that try to justify the rejection of traditional sexual relations in favor of non-traditional relations.

Roskomnadzor will also clamp down on websites that are aimed at forming a positive attitude towards gender reassignment, and providing rationales or justification for sex-change operations and that discuss the benefits.

The bill also mentions content about suicide, drug use and manufacturing, and improvised bomb and gun making.

Russia initially banned ‘LGBTQ propaganda’ aimed at minors in 2013. Last December, President Vladimir Putin officially signed a law that tightened the restrictions. The legislation introduced hefty fines for those found guilty of promoting “non-traditional sexual relations,” pedophilia, and transgenderism among both minors and adults through books, cinema, the media, and websites.

Only two years ago numerous alternative media sources including Zero Hedge were accused of spreading "conspiracy theories" and false information relating to the origins of the Covid-19 virus. Specifically, anyone who dared to suggest that the Level 4 virology lab in Wuhan, China (right across town from covid ground zero) might be the source of the outbreak, faced outright censorship on social media. The question many people should have been asking is: "Why?" - Why was the censorship so aggressive over clearly reasonable investigations into Wuhan lab operations?

Not only that, but why were the denials and spin from officials like Anthony Fauci so swift? Why not simply examine the evidence instead of dismissing it out of hand?

The real reason for the campaign to silence discussion on the Wuhan lab becomes evident as the connections between Fauci, the NIH and the lab are revealed. Elements of the US government including Fauci were in fact bankrolling gain of function research on coronaviruses at Wuhan, and shielding it from government oversight. It is undeniable. If one accepts that the most likely source for the covid pandemic was the Wuhan laboratory then one must also accept that Fauci and his associates helped to create the pandemic.

Fauci lied about these connections incessantly under oath. Here is Anthony Fauci defending his initial lie to Congress using further lies during questioning by Sen. Rand Paul:

Evidence of the research includes documents from the Department of Defense (obtained by Project Veritas) which confirm that EcoHealth Alliance approached DARPA in 2018 about gain of function research on bat borne coronaviruses under a proposal called Project Defuse. DARPA rejected the proposal on the grounds that it did not outline the risks of such experimentation and violated a moratorium on gain on function research. EcoHealth then went to Fauci and the NIH for funding, and Fauci was quick to support it using the labs in Wuhan.

Documents from the NIH itself also show that the group engaged in gain of function research at Wuhan focusing on developing coronaviruses that could be transferred from animals to humans. Fauci was aware of this research by at least 2021 (and was likely involved from the very beginning) and yet continued to lie about NIH involvement.

Meanwhile, the National Pulse - which has done multiple deep-dive investigations on the topic, uncovered in May of 2001 that the WIV scrubbed all mention of its partnership with the NIH from their website.

Scrutiny over Fauci's disinformation campaign may be too little too late, and we have to wonder if the man will ever face consequences for his actions. However, the exposure of Fauci and the NIH is so overwhelming that the former Director of National Intelligence now admits that Fauci misled Congress and the American public.

In his show on Rumble, Greenwald pointed out that had this been an incident involving a far-right extremist, the manifesto would have been made public. It would have been front-page news everywhere one looked. And Greenwald also noted that understanding the shooter’s motivation is important for a myriad of reasons.

Not the least of which is to prevent people from exploiting it. And in the interest of full disclosure, Greenwald might consider this column to be an example of such exploitation. But Greenwald also makes the point that the shooter probably does not fit the narrative that the media and various other entities find so tasty.

Some Americans Shouldn’t Get Another COVID-19 Vaccine Shot, FDA Says

Some Americans cannot receive another COVID-19 vaccine dose, U.S. regulators said on April 18, as they made sweeping changes to the vaccine system.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the changes, including replacing the old Pfizer and Moderna vaccines with updated bivalent shots that had previously only been available as boosters.

Regulators are also scaling back the number of recommended doses for most individuals, including people who haven’t received a shot.

Key changes include:

Most unvaccinated Americans are still being encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine but only need a single dose of a bivalent, the FDA said. The exception is young children. Children aged 6 months through 5 years can receive two doses of Moderna’s bivalent while those aged 6 months through 4 years can get three doses of Pfizer’s bivalent.

Americans who have received a primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine and one of the bivalent boosters still cannot get an additional dose, unless they’re in certain groups.

Any individual 65 years old or older can receive a bivalent dose, even if they’ve already received one, provided four months or more has elapsed since their last shot.

People aged 5 and older and deemed immune compromised can get another bivalent at least two months after their last shot, even if it was a bivalent, and can get additional doses “at the discretion of, and at intervals determined by, their healthcare provider.”

Yes, America’s Political Elite Are Really This Delusional

I am thankful to have my readers who live outside the borders of the United States and are not able to take the temperature of the body politic. That is one of my goals — i.e., explain the societal insanity that is widespread, especially among the establishment political class. Case in point, retired General David Petraeus.

He is interviewed by the Georgian Service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and confirms, by virtue of his responses, that he is either one of the dumbest men to ever pin on four stars or one of the most intellectually dishonest. Perhaps both.

Let me give you some of the low-lights from the interview:

RFE/RL: Where do we stand now in the Ukraine war?

David Petraeus: I think we stand near the end of the Russian winter offensive, which has not achieved its objectives so far, and which probably will culminate short of achieving those objectives. And even if [Russian forces] ultimately take Bakhmut, it will have come at such a cost that it will have been an unwise offensive.

And then we are awaiting the expected Ukrainian late spring-early summer offensive, which will feature Western tanks, Western infantry fighting vehicles, artillery, and a variety of other systems, and the kind of training and unit development that will allow Ukraine for the first time to achieve combined arms operations in this particular war — something that Russia has not done in the past and something that the Ukrainians did, to a modest degree, in the Kharkiv offensive last fall.

“End of the Russian winter offensive”? Apparently David does not realize that Spring started a month ago and the Russians show no signs of backing off. And what were the Russian objectives? I have a $1000 to anyone who can point me to a list of Russian objectives for the “winter offensive.” The only objectives I have seen posted in the media are demilitarization, de-nazification and ending the artillery attacks on the Donbas. And the Russians never specified a timeline. In other words, Petraeus is fabricating a strawman and then knocking it down.

Then there is the public obsession about Ukraine’s upcoming counter-offensive. I am not aware of any successful military campaign in history that was preceded by repeated public proclamations about the “imminent counter-offensive.” That kind of incomprehensible breach of military doctrine serves as a reminder of David Petraeus’ failure as a military commander and as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

And what about those “Western tanks” that will turn the tide against Russia? General David may want to reconsider his prediction given the “skill” a couple of Ukrainian tank drivers demonstrated this week at a training base in Poland:

SEC chairman stunned by question about paying for Steele dossier for Hillary Clinton campaign

President Biden's Securities and Exchange Commission chairman appeared caught off guard by a Republican congressman's questions about his time on the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. The chairman was asked if he facilitated the payment for the infamous Christopher Steele dossier.

The Steele dossier was a document procured by an British ex-spy that claimed that former President Trump had colluded with Russian interests, along with claims that he participated in lewd sex acts in Russian hotels.

As reported by the Daily Wire, House Republican Byron Donalds questioned SEC Chairman Gary Gensler about whether or not he facilitated the payment for the dossier when he worked for Clinton's campaign.

"You were Hillary Clinton's CFO in the campaign, right?" Donalds asked.

"It's part of my history —" Gensler replied before Donalds interjected, "Were you, yes or no?"

"In 2016?" Gensler clarified.

"Did you facilitate the payment for the Steele dossier since you were CFO of the Hillary Clinton campaign?” the congressman asked.

Donalds continued to ask "yes or no?" repeatedly and finlly reminded the SEC chairman that he was under oath.

"It was not something I was aware of," Gensler answered before the congressman yielded his time.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is Under Investigation for CCP, Taliban Business Deals

Democrat Gretchen Whitmer is being investigated for working with America's enemies.

Michigan State Senators Lana Theis, Ed McBroom, Joe Bellino, Dan Lauwers, and Kevin Daley announced on Tuesday that they are investigating Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s deal with Gotion after it was revealed that the battery manufacturing company has close ties with the Taliban and the Chinese Communist Party. Whitmer’s deal with the company says the State of Michigan will provide Gotion with state taxpayer dollars in exchange for Gotion to build a plant in Michigan.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Michigan State Senators Lana Theis, Ed McBroom, Joe Bellino, Dan Lauwers, and Kevin Daley asked federal lawmakers for help in their probe, writing, “We are writing to urge you to use all federal resources available to immediately investigate whether Gotion High-tech Co., Ltd., as registered on the Swiss Stock Exchange, has ties or contracts with foreign countries that have an adversarial relationship with the United States of America, In light of the time sensitivity of this matter, we kindly request that you work to take swift action. Your prompt attention to this issue is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.”

The Michigan lawmakers’ statement described Gotion as a company with ” direct ties to the CCP, which presents a national security risk, the plan has come under scrutiny for its secrecy and lack of oversight, which may present environmental and public safety risks as well.”

Gotion recently released a statement praising their work with the Taliban, “The representative of the company thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and asked for an investment in the lithium sector of Afghanistan and said that he wants to invest $10 billion in the Lithium Mines of Afghanistan, which will provide employment for more than 120,000 people directly and one million people indirectly.”

Gotion and Governor Whitmer have yet to comment on the Michigan State Senators letter release.

Iowa Advances Child Labor Bill

The Iowa Senate passed a bill on Tuesday that would allow minors to work in currently banned roles and longer hours.

The new bill would extend the hours teens under 16 could work up to six hours per day, two more than currently allowed. It would allow 16- and 17-year-olds to serve alcohol at restaurants with parental permission.

Two Republicans crossed the floor to vote against the bill with Democrats. However, the bill still passed 32-17 in the GOP-controlled Senate. The Iowa House will now consider the bill before it is sent to Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds for approval.

“Ultimately, parents and kids will decide if they want to work or not,” Reynolds said earlier this month. “It teaches the kids a lot. And if they have the time to do it and they want to earn some additional money, I don’t think we should discourage that.”

The bill’s mostly Republican supporters argue that it would give children valuable opportunities to work and get paid, while its mostly Democrat opponents have voiced concerns about potential harm to children and increased risk of workplace accidents and injuries among youth.

Some labor unions have organized protests to oppose the bill. The U.S. Department of Labor’s top lawyer, Seema Nanda, criticized the bill, saying it is “irresponsible for states to consider loosening child labor protections.”

Sen. Adrian Dickey (R-Packwood), the bill’s floor manager, said it would allow certain young people who want to work the ability to enjoy the rewards of a paycheck.

“While the responsibility of having a job might be more valuable than having a paycheck, the reward of the paycheck will allow these youth who want to have a job to possibly save for a car, maybe buy a prom dress, go to a summer camp, take a date out for the weekend,” Dickey said, Des Moines Register reported.

Inspector General Says He Can’t Guarantee Taxpayers Aren’t Funding Taliban, Blames Biden Admin

Inspector General John Sopko testified Wednesday that the Biden Administration refused to cooperate with investigators on U.S. aid being given to Afghanistan in the wake of the withdrawal which has since been mishandled by the Taliban.

Sopko first spoke about the “major problems with our assistance” to Afghanistan, saying he could not assure the American taxpayers that the $2 billion sent since the withdrawal has not been diverted by the Taliban. Sopko then blamed the lack of “aggressive oversight” for the problem.

“The lack of cooperation by state – and I’m not talking about the IG’s, I’m talking about the Department of State and to a lesser extent USAID is unprecedented in the nearly 12 years that I have been the SIGAR. And I must add in the two decades that I did congressional oversight, both in the Senate and the House. Due to this refusal to fully cooperate, a significant portion of SIGAR’s work, including the two reports – the five reports we did for this committee have been hindered and delayed.”

“We need your help to stop this obfuscation and delay by the Department of State and to some extent, USAID. As I’m sure my fellow inspectors general would agree, we cannot abide a situation in which agencies are allowed to pick and choose what information an IG gets, or who an IG can interview or what an IG may report on. If permitted to continue, it will end SIGAR’s work in Afghanistan.”

NGO that Exposed NYC Chinese Police Station Says More Operating in Texas, L.A., Nebraska

Safeguard Defenders, the non-governmental organization that exposed over 100 illegal Chinese government police stations abroad last year, listed on Tuesday multiple American cities in addition to New York in which such stations are believed to still be operating.

New York prosecutors announced the arrests on Monday of two individuals, “Harry” Lu Jianwang and Chen Jinping, for allegedly establishing an illicit police station in Manhattan used to harass, persecute, and threaten into repatriation anti-communist dissidents in the United States. U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Breon Peace accused China’s Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of “repeatedly and flagrantly violat[ing] our nation’s sovereignty by opening and operating a police station in the middle of New York City.”

The Department of Justice (DOJ) also announced charges levied against about 40 individuals, most believed to be in China and Indonesia, for organizing “troll farms” online to spread Chinese propaganda and threaten anti-Chinese government dissidents. Some of those charged also stand accused of infiltrating an unnamed American telecommunications company to sabotage virtual events organized by dissidents, such as a memorial for the victims of the Tiananmen Square massacre.

The arrests followed the publication of a bombshell Safeguard Defenders report in September titled “110 Overseas” that revealed that the Chinese government was using “service stations” around the world to spy on, threaten into silence, or attempt to repatriate political dissidents. The report exposed alleged “service stations” in New York as well as in London, Tokyo, Budapest, Sao Paulo, and cities in Africa.

On Tuesday, Safeguard Defenders told the New York Post that the group believes at least one other illegal Chinese police station is still operating in New York City, in addition to several other American cities.

Pentagon Seeks To Justify Syria Occupation Through More Raids On ISIS

US Central Command announced Monday that US commandos conducted a successful early morning helicopter raid on an ISIS hideout in northern Syria, resulting in the death of a suspected senior Syrian ISIS leader.

CENTCOM said the target, Abd-al-Hadi Mahmud al-Haji Ali, has been confirmed killed, in an operation that was launched based on intelligence saying ISIS was plotting to kidnap officials abroad. But US officials didn't name any target countries where such plots might be executed.

"We know ISIS retains the desire to strike beyond the Middle East," CENTCOM spokesman Col. Joe Buccino asserted in a statement. "This raid deals a significant blow to ISIS operations in the region but does not eliminate ISIS’ capability to conduct operations."

"Two other armed individuals were killed on the target," the statement continued, and claimed that no civilians were killed or injured in the raid. Additionally, CENTCOM Commander Gen. Erik Kurilla described: "Though degraded, ISIS remains able to conduct operations within the region with a desire to strike beyond the Middle East," and vowed to "continue the relentless campaign against ISIS."

Lately there have been bipartisan efforts to force President Biden to pull all American troops out of Syria. So far these Congressional moves have failed, but it has increased the pressure on the administration and the Pentagon to seek to justify the years-long occupation.

The "answer" has been to attempt to show the American public that ISIS remains a threat that "requires" the Pentagon's ongoing presence. But the reality is that the US is occupying the country's oil and gas producing region, effectively blocking the Assad government and population from accessing its own vital resources, also at a moment of Washington's far-reaching sanctions which has increased the suffering of common people.

But it's also true that ISIS continues to strike, as international reports highlighted over the weekend:

A truffle hunter was killed Sunday by a suspected ISIS fighter in the Syrian desert.

The civilian was in the Hama province, east of the city of Hama when an unknown gunman shot and killed him, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports. The killing is the latest example of the dangers of hunting for the edible underground desert fungus.

Twelve more civilians were also attacked in the area. They were said to be members of the Al-Bosraya tribe, according to SOHR. Four escaped while the other eight have not been unaccounted for. Hunters were also fired upon, again by suspected ISIS members, on Saturday.

Truffle trapping is a common practice in Syria where truffles command a high price on the market. They can be sold for up to $35 per kilogram, The New York Times reports. Hunters may earn more than $400 per day by selling what they find.

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen will fly from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan on Wednesday night, becoming the first Israeli minister to visit the central Asian state in nearly three decades.

Then-foreign minister Shimon Peres visited the oil-rich dictatorship in 1994, three years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, which had ruled the area.

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen will fly from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan on Wednesday night, becoming the first Israeli minister to visit the central Asian state in nearly three decades.

Then-foreign minister Shimon Peres visited the oil-rich dictatorship in 1994, three years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, which had ruled the area.

Turkmenistan’s border with Iran stretches for 713 miles (1,148 kilometers), offering Israel an enticing possible means of entry into the Islamic Republic as it tries to stop Tehran’s nuclear program.

Israel has had an ambassador in Ashgabat for a decade, but he has worked out of hotels and a temporary office.

As per the Daily Mail, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, will soon be exposing Epstein’s notorious operations involving the sexual harassment of minors.

Jeffrey Epstein’s victim disclosed that she saw several videos that the disgraced pedophile recorded in which his wealthy allies were seen having sex with a female target in order to “blackmail” her.

She also asserted that “the footage will haunt me for the rest of my life,” and that she also has various stashed copies of the horrible video.

One of the victims of Jeffrey Epstein, alleged that she not only saw the sex tapes of his wealthy friends but also made copies of them.

The newly released testimony of Sarah Ransome has caused the charges against distinguished attorney Alan Dershowitz to resurface, according to which Dershowitz engaged in the sexual abuse of minor females.

Ransome testified in an affidavit related to a lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s ex-girlfriend.

Ransome claimed to have seen footage of two associates of Epstein, engaging in sexual activity with a female victim.

She also claims that she was compelled to be a part of a threesome that involved an unnamed woman and Dershowitz.

Dershowitz has addressed these assertions.

Dershowitz refuses the sexual abuse allegations against him as he informed the Daily Beast:

“Let me be very clear—I have had sex with one woman since the day I met my wife.”

Judicial Watch: Records Show Funding for EcoHealth/Wuhan Institute Research to Create Coronavirus ‘Mutants’

Judicial Watch announced today it received 552 pages of records from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) which include the initial grant application and annual reports to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from EcoHealth Alliance, describing the aim of its work with the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China to create mutant viruses “to better predict the capacity of our CoVs [coronaviruses] to infect people.”

Eco Health planned to sequence the spike protein from coronaviruses obtained from bats for the purpose of “creating mutants to identify how significantly each would need to evolve to use ACE2,” which is explained as “the receptor to gain entry to human cells.”

Judicial Watch obtained the records through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request it filed in December 2021 for:

All reports submitted by EcoHealth Alliance to NIH or its sub-agencies related to NIH Grant No. 1R01A|110964 titled “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence” during the term of the grant.

In the initial “Application for Federal Assistance” submitted on June 5, 2013, by EcoHealth Alliance, a section is titled “Specific Aims,” which notes the intention to create mutant bat viruses and “predict the capacity of our CoVs [coronaviruses] to infect people:”

To understand the risk of zoonotic CoV [coronavirus] emergence, we propose to examine 1) the transmission dynamics of bat-CoVs across the human-wildlife interface; and 2) how this process is affected by CoV evolutionary potential, and how it might force CoV evolution. We will assess the nature and frequency of contact among animals and people in two critical human-animal interfaces: live animal markets in China and people who are highly exposed to bats in rural China.

“Specific Aim 3” discusses “Testing predictions of CoV inter-species transmission:”

We will test our models of host range (i.e. emergence potential) experimentally using reverse genetics, pseudovirus and receptor binding assays, and virus infection experiments in cell culture and humanized mice. With bat-CoVs that we’ve isolated or sequenced, and using live virus or pseudovirus infection in cells of different origin or expressing different receptor molecules, we will assess potential for each isolated virus and those with receptor binding site sequence to spill over. We will do this by sequencing the spike (or other receptor binding/fusion) protein genes from all our bat-CoVs, creating mutants to identify how significantly each would need to evolve to use ACE2, CD26/DPP4 (MERS-CoV receptor) or other potential CoV receptors.

House Oversight Committee Republicans plan to attack Biden’s Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), Dunn Marcos, on a familiar theme – that they have evidence that Biden’s policies have lost track of many as 85,000 children who entered the United States without accompaniment by a parent and that many of the migrant children are being exploited, according to Just The News.

This theme echoes the charges that Democrats misleadingly tried to use against President Trump placing “kids in cages” and losing track of such children. Just The News informed its audience that the number of unaccompanied children crossing the border has grown more than 10 times since Joe Biden took office.

Representative Glenn Grothman (R-WI), chairman of the Oversight and Accountability Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs, proclaimed in an interview with Just The News that “We have to do all we can to publicize this human rights tragedy going on in our southern border. We are not using DNA tests to even say who these children are or to make sure these children are going to relatives. They are resettling them across the United States. Even the New York Times — there’s articles about a lot of them working probably against child labor laws. We believe a lot of these children are forced to send money back to the cartels.”

Chairman Grothman demurred that “Rather than beef up the Border Patrol, they’re hiring guys and gals to take care of the dogs, which are supposed to provide therapy for the Border Patrol. e talked to a member of the union down there. They thought it was a joke. It’s almost unbelievable. Rather than hiring a dog to drug sniff, they’re hiring a dog to provide psychological counsel to our border patrol.”

Mr. Grothman proceeded to go off about the voluminous pile of evidence of problems on this front. He mentioned that the rate of unaccompanied children crossing the border went from 15,000 during Trump’s last year to more than 130,000 a year under Biden.

On that score, a Florida grand jury damningly found that “ORR asserts that children fleeing from danger are adequately identified, properly cared for, and reunited with their family here in this country. In reality, ORR is facilitating the forced migration, sale, and abuse of foreign children, and some of our fellow Florida residents are (in some cases unwittingly) funding and incentivizing it for primarily economic reasons.”

China offers to mediate Israel-Palestinian peace talks

Beijing-backed reconciliation deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia was seen as a blow to Israel's efforts to isolate Tehran

China’s foreign minister told his Israeli and Palestinian counterparts that Beijing is ready to help facilitate peace talks, Chinese state media reported.

In separate phone calls with both officials, Foreign Minister Qin Gang said on Monday that China is concerned about rising Israeli-Palestinian tensions and supports a return to peace talks.

China has offered to mediate between Israel and Palestine in the past. Its most recent pitch came during the May 2021 war between Israel and fighters in the besieged Gaza Strip, when it introduced a four-point peace proposal. An Egyptian-brokered bilateral cease-fire with US backing eventually ended the fighting.

But the new Chinese offer comes amid signs that Beijing is growing more serious about boosting its political role in the region. Last month, it brokered a deal between arch-rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran to restore diplomatic ties.

Qin told Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen that the Iran-Saudi deal offered “a fine example” of overcoming differences through dialogue, according to the Chinese foreign ministry statement.
