Elon Musk’s Starship explodes on test flight

The SpaceX rocket disintegrated just minutes after launch

SpaceX’s Starship failed to reach orbit on Thursday, exploding just minutes after takeoff as it could not separate from the booster rocket. Elon Musk’s space exploration company described the event as “a rapid unscheduled disassembly” but said the test resulted in valuable insights.

Facebook brands Seymour Hersh reporting ‘false’

The US social media giant has cited counterclaims by “independent fact-checkers” from Norway and Ukraine

Facebook has been criticized after opting to label reports by US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh as “false.” Hersh has made claims about American involvement in the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines and the alleged theft of US aid by Kiev, although the social media giant said “fact-checking”by outlets connected withNorway and Ukrainejustified its use of the label.

Hersh claimed in February that last year’s sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines, which were built to transport gas from Russia to Germany, had been ordered by US President Joe Biden and carried out by a joint US-Norwegian team. Both nations have denied any responsibility.

Hersh’s article on the pipeline sabotage, which he published on the platform Substack, is now flagged as “false information” by Facebook, journalist Michael Shellenberger noted on Thursday. Facebook uses third parties, which it considers independent fact-checkers, to make decisions on whether to warn users about the content of links posted on the platform.

While Hersh’s claims are disputed, Facebook “has decided to take a side” and is “censoring”the veteran journalist, Shellenberger argued.

Thefact-checker in this case was Norwegian public broadcaster NRK. On March 14, the organization reprinted an article by Faktisk.no, a media watchdog which counts NRK as among its partners. The watchdog claimed that, based on open source data, Hersh was mistaken about the alleged involvement of Norwegian Navy ships in the Nord Stream sabotage.

“Whether Hersh is wrong or right, his reporting should be debated publicly, not censored,”insisted Shellenberger, who recently helped expose social media censorship as part of the Twitter Files.

“Facebook’s actions are antithetical to America’s tradition of free and open debate and its rejection of secretive, authoritarian censorship,” he added.

Hersh published another bombshell report last week in which he claimed that US intelligence was aware of large-scale embezzlement of American aid money by the Ukrainian leadership. Facebook likewise labeled the report as “false,” citing the opinion of StopFake.org – a Ukraine-based, Western-funded media watchdog created to combat “Russian disinformation.”

StopFake disputed Hersh’s allegation because Substack is a self-publishing platform, rather than a so-called legacy outlet. It also referred to statements by US officials, who claimed they had seen no evidence of American aid being diverted in Ukraine. If Hersh’s allegations were true, the corruption “would be known to American auditors, and it would have negatively impacted assistance to Ukraine,”the outlet stated.

Hersh compared the situation in Ukraine to what happened in Afghanistan during the two decades of US military presence there. Reports by American inspectors exposed rampant corruption year after year, but that did not appear to affect US spending on “reconstruction” efforts in any significant way.

https://www.rt.com/news/575053-facebook-brands-hersh-reporting/

Let the Exodus from FB continue until billions leave and it collapses. This only makes Hersh’s reporting more believable.

EU ‘done’ with Russia sanctions – official

Brussels has reportedly run out of options to further penalize Moscow

The European Union has exhausted its options for further economic restrictions against Russia, theFinancial Timesreported on Thursday, citing EU officials.

The bloc has so far adopted ten rounds of sanctions in response to the Ukraine conflict and is currently working on an eleventh package of punitive measures against Moscow. Meetings between the European Commission and member state officials to informally discuss new actions will start on Friday, FT wrote.

Officials working on further sanctions told the outlet that they are likely to be limited to expanding the list of individuals subject to asset freezes and travel bans, as well as steps to scale up existing measures by closing loopholes.

Most officials reportedly admitted that thoseparts of the Russian economythat were left unsanctioned are parts that one or moreEU member states “can’t live without,” and thus measures targeting them would be vetoed.

We are done,” one of the officials told FT, adding: “If we do more sanctions, there will be more exemptions than measures.”

New restrictions could reportedly targetRussia’s nuclear fueland services exports, but those would beopposed by some member-states, such as France, Hungary, and others.

Sweeping EU sanctions have targeted various sectors of the Russian economy as well as individuals and entities. According to FT, almost 1,500 people and more than 200 entities are currently subject to asset freezes and travel bans. The report indicated that the bloc’s restrictive measures have banned bilateral trade flows worth more than €135 billion ($148 billion), including energy imports from Russia, as well as exports of technology, machinery, and electronic goods. Some €21.5 billion worth of assets belonging to sanctioned individuals and entities has been frozen, alongside €300 billion of Russian central bank reserves.

Many economists and politicians, however, have argued that theembargos harm the West more than Moscow.

Hungarian President Viktor Orban has repeatedly called for “the failed policy of Brussels” to be changed, noting that the sanctions “didn’t fulfill the hopes that were pinned on them,” while Europe is “slowly bleeding.”

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has likened the bloc’s attempts to cut itself off from Russian fossil fuels to economic “suicide.”

Next they will stop aid to Ukraine, it’s comingI guess they realize listening to Bidan that is willing to decapitate energy to Germany is not a good idea.

Russia has enough gas for a century – Gazprom

The energy major has said it adds more to its reserves every year than it produces

Russia’s natural gas reserves will last for the next 100 years, energy major Gazprom announced on Thursday.

As of the end of 2022, Gazprom had 35 trillion cubic meters of proved natural gas reserves, Viktor Zubkov, chairman of the company’s board of directors, told an industry forum in Moscow.

Russia is the world’s second-biggest producer of natural gas, behind the US,and has the world’s largest reserves. The US had 12.6 trillion cubic meters of proved natural gas reserves as of 2020, while Gazprom’s share of global gas stocks stands at 15%.

Last month, Gazprom reported that for 18 consecutive years it has discovered more natural gas annually than it has extracted. In 2022, reserves grew by nearly 530 billion cubic meters, while the overall production figure stood at 412 billion cubic meters.

Gazprom was forced to cut gas production last year by nearly 20% due to international sanctions against Russia and the resulting shift in supplies. Deliveries of pipeline gas to the EU, once Gazprom’s largest customer, were drastically reduced with long-distance exports falling by about 45%, according to company data. Russia has since redirected supplies to other customers, primarily China.

Poland wants broader Ukrainian food ban – media

The EU has pledged €100 million in aid to Eastern European farmers hurt by prices being undercut by imports

Poland wants to expand import restrictions on Ukrainian foodstuffs byadding berries, eggs, poultry, sugar, and honey, a Polish outlet has claimed. Several Eastern European nations targeted Ukrainian grain after it flooded the market and drove local prices down.

Warsaw’s push for wider restrictions was reported on Thursday by the RFM radio station, which cited unofficial information uncovered by its reporter in Brussels. Hungary hasalready banned Ukrainian eggs, meat, sugar, cooking oil, wine, and most kinds of vegetables.

Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria banded together to keep Ukrainian food products out of their markets, sparking irritation in Brussels. A European Commission spokesperson said last Sunday that “unilateral actions” were not acceptable and that member states should “align all decisions within the EU.”

Last year, the EU lifted tariffs and quotas for Ukrainian agricultural products and worked to facilitate these goods being exported, purportedly to help Kiev in its fight against Russia. Eastern European nations, in particular Poland, have been supporting Kiev’s war effort but have faced domestic protests as farmers have struggled to compete with cheaper imports.

On Wednesday, EU officials met with representatives from the five countries to discuss their concerns. The European Commission offered €100 million ($109 million) in support for farmers in the five member states, nearly twice the amount previously allocated for the purpose. It also vowed to take “preventive measures”regarding wheat, maize, oilseeds and sunflower seeds.

Thecrisis has subjected Ukraine’s bid to join the EU to a “reality check,” the Financial Timesnoted in a newsletter on Thursday. Ukraine is a major agricultural power, and membership would give it better access to the joint EU market. The FT said the standoff exposed “the gulf between political positioning and market realities” and thataccession “remains a distant prospect at best” for Kiev.

Vance: Biden’s ‘Cultural Imperialism’ of Forcing Lefty Ideas on the World Helps China Get Ahead

Ian Hanchett19 Apr 2023

On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) discussed his objection to the nomination of Stephanie Sullivan to be the U.S. Representative to the African Union and argued that the Biden administration’s foreign policy is “based on taking the most radical far-left ideas and basically building a moralizing foreign policy around that,” and that drives countries into the arms of China because countries would rather have economic help than lectures.

Vance said, “I think that it’s important that we have a full debate in the Senate, because we have aforeign policy right now, I hate to say it, from the Biden administration, that’s based on hectoring and moralizing. It’s based on taking the most radical far-left ideas and basically building a moralizing foreign policy around that, instead of trying to make a trade with people where they get something good and we get something good in return. It’s acomplete dereliction of duty. It’s terrible for our foreign policy.”

He added, “[I]f you’re in Ghana, what do you want, a lecture from a woke white woman in America or do you want somebody to help you build hospitals, roads, and bridges? It’s an easy answer. And the fact thatwe’re sending so many diplomats to Africaand other places who can’t answer the question the right way is really troubling and we need to, at least in this country, have a debate about it.”

Vance concluded, “They see this as cultural imperialism. The Americans are coming in and trying to force foreign values down their throats, whereas the Chinese are coming [in] and helping with them economic development. And yeah, it’s already having very negative consequences, because a lot of the minerals, a lot of resources we need for the 21st century economy, theChinese are gobbling this stuff up through our diplomacyand we’re standing over here saying that you need to post the right flag outside of your embassy or you’re not going to get full respect from your American diplomats and your American so-called friends.”

(The new ambassador is trying to conquer systemic racism in Africa! Kek! Good luck with that.)

Schumer Demands Garland Investigate Tennessee Republicans for Expelling Disruptive Democrats

Joel B. Pollak19 Apr 2023

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has written to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to ask that the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigate Tennessee Republicans for expelling three Democrats who disrupted the legislature last month.

The Democrats did so in support of gun control activists who had invaded the state capitol — an offense Schumer, in other contexts, has described as “insurrection” against democracy.

As Wendell Husebø noted at Breitbart News:

Legislators Justin Jones (D) and Justin Pearson (D) were expelled earlier in March for taking over the democratic debate in collusion with gun protesters who invaded the Tennessee Capitol. Gloria Johnson (D), a third representative, narrowly survived an expulsion vote.

Both Jones and Pearson were restored to their positions by their respective municipalities.

Democrats have claimed that Republicans were motivated by racism, since Johnson is white. However, as Washington Examinercolumnist Byron York notes, she was not as aggressive in disrupting proceedings.

In an April 12, 2023 letter to Garland, Schumer joinedSen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and three others — Sens. Brian Schatz (D-HI), Chris Murphy (D-CT), and Alex Padilla (D-CA)— in demanding that Garland investigate.

They also argued that democratic legislatures should, in fact, be disrupted, given the seriousness of the issue (original emphasis, footnotes removed):

We write to urge the U.S. Department of Justice to use all available legal authorities to investigate the expulsions of Representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson from the Tennessee General Assembly, the state legislature of Tennessee, to determine whether any violations of the United States Constitution or federal civil rights laws have occurred, and to take all steps necessary to uphold the democratic integrity of our nation’s legislative bodies.

On March 30, 2023, three legislators from Tennessee—Representatives Jones, Johnson, and Pearson—joined this growing chorus of Americans by protesting their colleagues’ inaction on gun violence on the floor of the Tennessee House of Representatives. There are no allegations that these democratically-elected officials engaged in any violent or illegal conduct. By courageously participating in nonviolent demonstrations, they challenged procedural rules governing decorum and good behavior. We believe the repeated and preventable slaughter of our children should frustrate and disrupt decorum because this horrifying pattern must never be accepted as business as usual. Moreover, we do not believe that breaking decorum is alone sufficient cause for employing the most draconian of consequences to duly-elected lawmakers.

The Tennessee state legislature has reportedly never previously expelled a member over purely procedural violations. Instead, previous expulsions have involved serious allegations of ethical or criminal misconduct. In taking this radical action, rather than responding to the intolerable violence inflicted upon a Tennessee community, the Tennessee House of Representatives chose to silence Black members of their own body who were protesting nonviolently, in response to violence.

In light of this serious threat to our democracy, we urge you to prioritize all investigations into any violations of rights under federal law or the U.S. Constitution posed by the expulsions of the Tennessee legislators.

The letter to Garland recalls an earlier effort, by the National School Boards Association, urging the DOJ to investigate parents who objected at public meetings about Critical Race Theory and transgenderism in schools. Garland’s subsequent directive to law enforcement officials nationwide to monitor local board meetings was met with outrage, and is currently the subject of investigation by the House Weaponization Subcommittee.

Schumer has argued that those who entered the U.S. Capitol on January 6 — including those who were peaceful and otherwise broke no laws — participated in an “insurrection” against democracy by disrupting a proceeding of the legislature. Now that he has argued in favor of “insurrection,” as long as the cause is one he likes, the Harvard-trained lawyer has arguably provided a defense for every non-violent January 6 arrestee.

The White House announced Wednesday that President Joe Biden will meet with, and honor, the “Tennessee Three.” He has yet to meet with the families of the victims of the Nashville shooting last month– which inspired the gun control protest at the state capitol — and has yet to meet with the police officers who killedthe shooter.

(Enjoy your short time as leader Schumer, it won’t last much longer. You guys forgot to consider State’s Rights assholes)

Iranian navy says it forced US submarine to surface

The USS Florida was attempting to sail undetected through the Strait of Hormuz, the navy’s commander has said

The Iranian navy intercepted a US submarine in the Strait of Hormuz and forced it to surface and change its course, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani told reporters on Thursday. The US denies the incident.

According to Irani, thenuclear-powered USS Floridawas approaching the strait incomplete silencewhen it was detected by an Iranian Fateh-class diesel-electric submarine. The Iranian vessel “forced this American submarine to come to the surface and cross the Strait of Hormuz on the surface of the water,” Irani said, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency.

Irani added that the US submarine attempted to enter Iranian waters, but changed its course following a warning from the Fateh. The admiral called on theUS to explain why the Florida attempted to violate Iran’s borders, and declared that American vessels “must observe all international rules from now on.”

The US denies that the encounter ever took place. “A US submarine has not transited the Strait of Hormuz today or recently," the commander of the US Fifth Fleet, Timothy Hawkins, told Reuters. “The claim represents more Iranian disinformation that does not contribute to regional maritime security and stability,” Hawkins added.

However, the US navy did say earlier this month that the USS Florida was en route to the Middle East to patrol with the Fifth Fleet. The navy rarely announces such maneuvers, but likely made the Florida’s journey public to deter Iran from targeting Israeli-owned vessels in the Persian Gulf, as US and Israeli officials claimed Tehran was preparing to do.

The US navy also announced on Thursday that it had sent an unmanned surface vessel through the strait the previous day, accompanied by two US Coast Guard Sentinel-class cutters.

Thursday’s alleged encounter comes less than three weeks after the Iranian navy reportedly turned back a US spy plane on the edge of its airspace. Both encounters took place amid heightened tensions in the region, with Tehran blaming Israel for a drone attack on its military infrastructure in January and another at the beginning of this month.

Relations with West won’t improve – Putin’s special representative

That doesn’t mean Russia wants to shut itself off from the world, Mikhail Shvydkoy has said

The fractured ties between Moscow and the Westwill not improve anytime soongiven that Russian artists continue to be blacklisted and joint projects canceled, said Mikhail Shvydkoy, President Vladimir Putin’s special representative for international cultural cooperation.

“I don’t think relations with the European Union and the US, with unfriendly Western countries, will be ‘unfrozen’. So far, I don’t see any prospect for change,” Shvydkoy, a former culture minister, told the news agency RIA Novosti on Thursday.

“On the contrary, they are expanding the lists of [Russians] working in the cultural field that have been sanctioned. There is still a ban in the West for cultural institutions to have contacts with Russian state institutions,” the official said.

Shvydkoy added that, despite the tensions, some individual artists and scientists from the Westare ready to interact with their Russian counterparts. Moscow, in turn, continues to be open to projects with other countries across the globe.

We are not shutting ourselves off from anyone. But we stress that dialogue in the field of humanities must be depoliticized.

As part of the restrictions imposed on Russia in response to its military operation in Ukraine, theEU blacklisted a number of public figureswho support the Russian government, including Oscar-winning filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov, actors Sergey Bezrukov and Vladimir Mashkov, singers Oleg Gazmanov, Grigory Leps, and Nikolay Rastorguyev.

Some artists lost work in the West shortly after the armed conflict broke out between Moscow and Kiev in February 2022. Carnegie Hall in New York canceled a performance by famed conductor Valery Gergiev and pianist Denis Matsuev.

Putin slammed thereprisals against Russian artists and works last year as “simply stupid,”and said that “attempts to cancel our culture are doomed to fail.”

Berlin blames Russia for Western setbacks in Africa

The German defense minister has expressed alarm at Moscow’s growing traction on the continent, especially in the Sahel region

Berlin blames Russia for Western setbacks in Africa

Berlin has reiterated concerns about Russia’s growing influence in Africa, with the German defense minister claiming on Wednesday that the West is facing a geopolitical reversal in the region, particularly in the Sahel.

“Russian narratives and offers seem to be gaining traction here, and the Western community is losing ground here. And the Sahel is and will remain strategically relevant for precisely this reason, especially given the Russian presence in the region,” Boris Pistorius said.

He made the remarks in parliament during a debate about deploying German troops to Niger as part of a European Union military mission aimed at mitigating the risk of violence spillover from neighboring Mali.

French President Emmanuel Macron has previously accused Moscow of pursuing a “predatory project” in Africa, particularly in Burkina Faso and Mali, whereParis has suffered military failures. Such a stance by Western nations shows a “neo-colonial approach,” according to remarks by Alexey Saltykov, the Russian ambassador to Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.

At the same time, Rwandan President Paul Kagame hasurged Western powers not to involve Africa in their political issueswhile emphasizing that Russia, like any other country, has the freedom to be present anywhere on the continent.

“Those who come to Africa… you hear people complain about China, then about Russia, but how about them? What right do they have to be in Africa that others don’t have?” Kagame said on Saturday during his visit to Benin.

He said African countries needed to “just get together to identify what we need in terms of partnership and who offers what we need, and leave to them their own, other problems.”

African leaders are increasingly supportive of Russia's presence on the continent, with South Africa, Djibouti, and Mali recently strengthening military ties with Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has also expressed Moscow’s commitment to “continue building a full strategic partnership” with Africa. He has also made known plans to continue supplying grain to needy African countries in the event Moscow exits a landmark agreement with Ukraine to allow exports from the country’s Black Sea ports. “I want to emphasize that our country has always given and will continue to give priority to co-operation with African states,” Putin said in a televised address at a conference on Russian-African relations in March.

(The EU has drawn out wars of terrorism in many countries especially France with little success. France got kicked out of 5-6 countries. They just use the countries to get money arms from MIC, without concern for the death they cause. Plus they and the US are on a hard push in Africa for LBTQ rights. Doing the same to Saudi Arabia, it ain’t working)

House Passes Ban On men Participating In Women’s Sports

Michael GinsbergApril 20, 2023 11:11 AM ET

The House of Representatives passed legislation along party lines Thursday that would interpret Title IX to prohibit male athletes from participating in scholastic athletic events designated specifically for female athletes.

Two hundred-nineteen Republicansvoted in favor of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, introduced in February by Republican Florida Rep. Greg Steube. All203 voting Democrats opposedthe legislation. President Joe Biden has promised to veto the legislation, which would categorically ban male student-athletes from participating in events designated for female student-athletes. The White House issued a Title IX interpretation on April 11 that would prohibit “categorical” sex-based sporting events, but still allow some restrictions.

Female Republican representatives emphasized the importance of sports as a formative experience for girls and young women during a press conference held just before the vote.

“If you talk to women leaders today, so many had opportunities playing sports growing up,” Republican Conference chairwoman Elise Stefanik of New York said. Sports teaches important life skills, she noted, including “leadership, discipline, [and] teamwork.”

“I don’t care how many surgeries you have, how many chemicals you put in your body, that does not make you a biological woman,” Texas Rep. Beth Van Duyne added. The existence of the debate at all, Van Duyne said, “shows how stark raving mad leftists have perverted a simple subject.”

Democrats have framed the legislation as part of a Republican obsession with transgender individuals. Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern called the bill “creepy” and “cruel” while asserting that it is part of the GOP’s “trans bullying.”

Republican Tennessee Rep. Diana Harshbarger asserted that Democratic opposition is part of the Biden administration’s “war on women.”

“They’re coming after your girls,” she said

CNN Host Corrects Karine Jean-Pierre Straight To Her Face

Brianna LymanApril 20, 2023 11:06 AM ET

CNN’sPoppy Harlow had to correct White House press sec. Karine Jean-Pierre straight to her faceThursday about her debt ceiling claim.

McCarthy released a budget proposal Wednesday that would raise the U.S. debt by $1.5 trillion to avoid default while slashing spending. President Joe Biden criticized the proposal as “wacko notions.”

“So here’s the thing … [McCarthy] sided with the MAGA wing of his conference, the extreme republican wing of the conference to put forth legislation, a blueprint, that will devastate, let’s be clear, devastate hardworking American families. And not only that, they’re doing that the MAGA house is doing that, while also putting at risk our American economy so that they can take a hatchet to the programs that matter to everyday Americans,” Jean-Pierre said, adding that McCarthy should propose a bill that would avoid default.

Just to be clear, this bill would do that – it would avoid a default,” Harlow said. “But as I understand it none of this is something that the White House will agree to.”

The proposal, called the “Limit, Save, Grow Act” would raise the debt ceiling through March 31, 2024, but include a $130 billion cut in federal spending while capping any spending increase at 1% per year for the next decade.

“If Washington wants to spend more it will have to come together and find savings elsewhere just like every single household in America,” McCarthy said in announcing his proposal.

The proposal also would require individuals receiving benefits from anti-poverty programs to have work requirements.

(Uh Oh when the radical media is tired of the lies, its a sign!)

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Must Come To An End’ — Republicans Call On Biden To Stop Sending ‘Unrestrained’ Aid To Ukraine

Henry RodgersApril 20, 2023 11:46 AM ET

Finally!

Republican lawmakers in the House and the Senate sent a letter Thursday to President Joe Biden, calling on him and his administration to stop sending “unrestrained” U.S. aid to Ukraine.

The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the letter, which was spearheaded by Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Arizona Rep. Eli Crane, before it was sent to Biden. In it, the lawmakers mention risks associated with continuing to supply Ukraine with weapons and military aid, noting that such actions could make the situation worse and lead to a proxy war with Russia.

“Unrestrained U.S. aid for Ukraine must come to an end, and we will adamantly oppose all future aid packages unless they are linked to a clear diplomatic strategy designed to bring this war to a rapid conclusion,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter.

The lawmakers go on to argue that the U.S. should be focused on its own military readiness and economic security, rather than allocating “substantial resources” to a foreign conflict.

The letter also states that Ukraine is pushing America’s two greatest adversaries, Russia and China, closer together.

“As the U.S. capacity to respond to threats is being degraded, your strategy in Ukraine is pushing our two greatest adversaries closer together. Russia and China’s burgeoning alliance has only become stronger in the past year. In early February 2022, Putin and Xi reminded the world of their ‘no limits’ partnership in their first face-to-face meeting in two years. Russia would invade Ukraine by the end of that month, with no condemnation from China,” the lawmakers continued.

On Wednesday, the White House announced its 36th package of military aid for Ukraine. This latest tranche brings the total U.S. military commitment to $35 billion since Russia invaded in Feb. 2022. TheBiden administration has requested a similarly large amount to fund Ukraine’s government and provide humanitarian aid, CNBC reported.

READ THE LETTER HERE:

On Monday, House Republicans sent letters to the State Department and Department of Defense (DOD) calling on them to explain reports of U.S. special forces in Ukraine. In Nov. 2022, outlets reported the U.S. has sent troops to Ukraine to inspect and monitor the final destination of U.S.-provided weapons.

Earlier in April, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told Fox News that a “small U.S. military presence” was present at the embassy in Kyiv to watch over military aid approved by Congress.

The other lawmakers who signed the letter were Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Reps. Mary Miller of Illinois, Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs of Arizona, Matt Gaetz and Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, Dan Bishop of North Carolina, Barry Moore of Alabama, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Tim Burchett and Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, Matt Rosendale of Montana, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Mike Collins of Georgia and Josh Brecheen of Texas.

The White House did not immediately respond to the Caller’s inquiries about the letter.

NBC News retracted a story Wednesday it had published about the exploitation of migrant minors for work in the U.S. after the featured narrative turned out to be about an adult.

The NBC April 12 report featured the story of a Guatemalan migrant, Pedro, who claimed to be a 16-year-old that was exploited for work at a Kansas slaughterhouse, according to NBC News. Later, the company managing the slaughterhouse sent NBC a video of Pedro saying he wasn’t in fact a child and that he was actually 21. “This article replaces one published by NBC News on April 12, 2023, about a migrant worker at a Kansas slaughterhouse. That article has been withdrawn in light of new information that the migrant is not a minor,” NBC’s subsequent editor’s note read.

NBC followed up with Pedro about his age and he said it’s “hard for me to explain.” After traveling to Guatemala and obtaining documentation, NBC discovered Pedro was actually 21.

TheGuatemalan migrant initially claimed to be a childto more easily get released into the country after crossing the Southern border illegally, according to NBC News.Pedro spent three months in the care of the Department of Health and Human Services(HHS) in Chicago and laterattended high school in Kansas.

“It’s because over there in Guatemala we have a lot of need and we don’t have a lot of money and for that reason,” Pedro told NBC as to why he lied to U.S. border authorities.

The number of migrant children crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally alone has surged in the last two years, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data. The New York Times recently published a series of reports exposing how child migrants are being turned over by HHS to sponsors that are not family members for labor exploitation.

NBC Universal didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Doocy Asks Jean-Pierre Why The Families Of Covenant School Shooting Victims Have Not Received Invites From White House

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre why the victims of the Covenant School shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, received no invite to the White House during Wednesday’s briefing.

The White House invited the three Democratic Tennessee state lawmakers who participated in a gun control protest in the state capitol on March 30. The state House of Representatives voted to expel Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson, while Rep. Gloria Johnson survived the vote for her expulsion.

Doocy pressed Jean-Pierre as to why the families of the six victims fatally shot in the schoolhave not received an invite to the White House.

“So Monday, you’re gonna have three of the lawmakers who protested—” Doocy began.

Peacefully protested,” Jean-Pierre pushed back.

Who peacefully protested after the Nashville Covenant School shooting,” Doocy continued. “Have any of the victims or the victims’ families been invited to the White House?”

“I don’t have anything to read out to you about any invite,” the press secretary said.

“Why?” Doocy asked.

I just don’t have anything at this time to read out to you about any invite,” she answered. “What I can say to you right now is that the president is focused on getting things done. He’s focused on making sure that we are protecting our communities, that we’re protecting our schools, that we’re protecting our churches, we’re protecting our grocery stores that people as we know in Buffalo went to a grocery store on a Saturday and got murdered.”

The press secretary said the legislators, often referred to as the “Tennessee Three,” are arriving at the White House to address ways to prevent gun violence in public places. She then said President Joe Biden is pressuring congressional Republicans to show “courage” by banning “assault weapons.”

“He [Biden] continues to put pressure on Congress to get things done,” she said. “Make sure they’re showing some courage — Republicans in Congress — to make sure that we’re banning assault weapons. We cannot have weapons of war in our streets, we cannot have weapons of war in our schools, and so that’s why he’s bring them there. He’s bringing them here to continue that conversation.”

Jones and Pearson were later reinstated to their seats after two local commissions voted unanimously to lift their expulsions. The expulsions occurred after a group consisting of hundreds of protesters attempted to push through the troopers. One male protesters stormed through and was immediately taken into custody.
