Washington Legislature Passes Semi-Automatic Rifle Ban

Another gun control restriction has been passed by Washington state legislatures, implementing a ban on dozens of models of semi-automatic rifles on Wednesday.

Democrat Gov. Jay Inslee is expected to sign the bill (HB 1240) into law and posted his reaction to this latest effort to stop the growing list of mass shootings in the United States.

“WA does not and will not accept gun violence as normal. Banning the sale of assault weapons, our bill to enact training requirements and a waiting period, and the bill to improve the accountability of manufacturers and retailers will save lives,” the governor posted on Twitter in response to the bill’s approval.

Biden releases Al Qaeda instructor held at Guantanamo Bay for two decades

The Biden Administration has just released Said bin Brahim bin Umran Bakush, a suspected Al Qaeda instructor. The terrorist was returned to Algeria on Thursday after being held at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay for two decades.

“The United States appreciates the willingness of the Government of Algeria, and other partners to support ongoing U.S. efforts toward a deliberate and thorough process focused on responsibly reducing the detainee population and ultimately closing the Guantanamo Bay facility,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

According to the New York Times, Bakush is the sixth Guantanamo prisoner released in the past six months; an effort to reduce the population and eventually shut down the facility. A DOD review board determined Bakush was eligible for transfer on April 13, after Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin notified Congress of his intent to repatriate the detainee in February, according to the statement.

Bakush is one of the last detainees to be released among a group of 20 suspected low-level Islamist fighters captured in a 2002 raid on facilities U.S. and Pakistani authorities believed Al Qaeda was using as safe houses, according to The New York Times. The Department of Defense (DOD) reached an agreement with Algeria to transfer Bakush, originally thought to hail from Libya, subject to continued monitoring, travel restrictions and security conditions, the statement said…

U.S. forces initially identified Bakush as Ali Abdul Razzaq from Libya, but he later claimed to be from Algeria and gave his name as Said Bakush, the NYT reported.

Bakush became increasingly reclusive during his two decades as prisoner, boycotting hearings to determine his suitability for release and in 2017 or 2018 refusing to speak with his lawyer, H. Candace Gorman, according to the NYT. He huddled in his cell at Camp 6, a building where more pliant detainees are permitted to eat, pray and watch TV together.

New Study Suggests Carbon Dioxide Buildup from Wearing Face Masks Increase Risk of Stillbirths, Testicular Dysfunction, & Cognitive Deterioration

The intense propaganda to coerce you to wear a face mask is not based on science. It is a pure political power play designed to force you and your children into submission.

‘Explosive’ new research reveals that using a face mask during pregnancy may increase the chance of stillbirth, testicular dysfunction, and cognitive decline in children, Daily Mail reported.

When worn for extended periods of time, facial coverings may increase the risk of mild carbon dioxide (CO2) poisoning, according to a review of 43 previously published studies on exposure to CO2, mask-wearing, and pregnancy by German researchers.

Researchers in Germany found that elevated levels of carbon dioxide in pregnant women were associated with an increased risk of birth defects.

They also stated that CO2 is a contributor to oxidative stress, which can have negative effects on brain function and lead to testicular problems in men.

The German researchers reviewed a study that found that even short-term exposure to concentrations of CO2 as low as 0.3% caused brain damage, increased anxiety, and impaired memory in both pregnant rats and young mice. Testicular cells and sperm were destroyed in another study when male mice were exposed to 2.5 percent CO2 for four hours, the human equivalent of which is 0.5 percent. A third study found that stillbirth and birth defects occurred in pregnant rats exposed to 3 percent CO2 (equal to 0.8 percent for humans).

(The primary limitation of the research is that it is limited to studies on animals due to the unethical nature of doing such trials on human subjects due to the potential toxicity of carbon dioxide.)

Alluding to the surge in stillbirths during the pandemic, the German researchers said: ‘Circumstantial evidence exists that popular mask use may be related to current observations of a significant rise of 28 percent to 33 percent in stillbirths worldwide.’

‘[And] reduced verbal, motor, and overall cognitive performance of two full standard deviations in scores in children born during the pandemic,’ the researchers wrote in the paper, published in the journal Heliyon.

The German research team gathered data from 43 previously published studies on exposure to CO2, mask-wearing and pregnancy.

They found that after wearing a mask for more than five minutes, CO2 levels in the inhaled air rose to between 1.4 percent and 3.2 percent.

One mask study conducted in Germany, researchers measured the CO2 concentration of air behind surgical masks worn by 15 healthy men. Within 30 minutes, the CO2 concentration rose to roughly 2.8-3.2 percent.

In another study in Italy, scientists measured the air under surgical masks worn in a lab and found a concentration between 0.22 and 0.29 percent within five minutes.

Masks provide breathing resistance and create a dead space that traps CO2, leading to more inhaled and re-breathed CO2, the reviewers said.

The gas makes up around 0.04 percent of all inhaled air, for comparison, and the Department of Agriculture said safe levels should be below 0.5 percent for eight-hour exposure.

Drug Suspect Takes Off With Sheriff’s Meth After Sting Fails

A drug dealer suspected of trafficking was able to escape with almost 60 pounds of methamphetamine from Riverside County Sheriff’s narcotics investigators during an undercover operation on April 19th, officials said.

The Sheriff’s Department is currently working to retrieve the drugs, but has not disclosed the location of the incident.

The suspect was identified during a sale set up by the Special Investigation Bureau deputies in an attempt to uncover drug traffickers.

The meeting took place at 4 p.m. where the suspect purchased 27 kilograms of methamphetamine. Following the transaction, the suspect fled and the Gang Task Force attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the suspect refused to pull over, initiating a high-speed pursuit.

Due to the suspect’s disregard for public safety and high speeds, the deputies ended the chase.

Delaware lawmakers to revisit handgun permits

Backers of the measure argue that while Delaware has enacted tough gun control measures focused on so-called "assault rifles," handguns remain largely unregulated.

Delaware lawmakers have resurrected a proposal requiring handgun owners to get permits, drawing criticism and the threat of a lawsuit from Second Amendment groups who say it would violate constitutional rights.

A proposal filed Wednesday in the state Senate would require prospective handgun owners to complete a state-authorized firearms training course and submit an application that would include fingerprinting and an extensive background check. If approved, Delaware's Department of Safety and Homeland Security would issue a free 180-day permit.

Backers of the measure, which goes before the Senate Judiciary Committee next Wednesday for a public hearing, argue that while Delaware has enacted tough gun control measures focused on so-called "assault rifles," handguns remain largely unregulated.

"What we still have not fully confronted, however, are the murders, suicides and gun crimes we see here in Delaware on an almost daily basis – the vast majority of them committed with handguns," said state Sen. Elizabeth "Tizzy" Lockman, D-Wilmington, one of the bill's primary sponsors.

"This legislation will help to stem the incremental bloodshed and devastation that’s already occurring in Delaware by helping to keep deadly weapons away from people intent on harming themselves and others," she added.

The bill's sponsors point out 14 other states and the District of Columbia have some kind of handgun permit law, including New York, New Jersey and Maryland.

A similar proposal was filed in the previous legislative session but failed to gain traction amid claims from opponents who argued it would effectively create a temporary registry of handgun owners. Delaware law doesn't allow the creation of a firearms registry.

Backers said the revised proposal would limit law enforcement's ability to retain records and wouldn't allow the state to keep a registry of handgun permit holders.

"Gun laws save lives," Traci Manza Murphy, executive director of the Delaware Coalition Against Gun Violence, which backs the plan. "Requiring a permit to purchase a handgun will put critical time between the impulse to use a gun and the ability to do so – and it will make it a lot harder for guns to end up in dangerous hands."

FEC began probing 2020 Hunter Biden laptop suppression weeks before ex-spy's stunning admission

Direct evidence from ex-CIA chief Mike Morell about Biden campaign's role could significantly impact outcome of federal inquiry, lawyer says.

The Federal Election Commission began investigating whether Joe Biden's 2020 campaign improperly colluded with Big Tech and intelligence experts to suppress accurate stories about Hunter Biden's laptop weeks before ex-spy Michael Morell's bombshell revelation that he worked with the campaign to organize a letter that falsely portrayed the laptop as a Russian intelligence dirty trick.

The FEC's investigation was confirmed in a March 29 letter to Timothy Parlatore, a lawyer for former President Donald Trump who filed a complaint alleging the letter and Twitter's and Facebook's suppression of the laptop story in October 2020 amounted to an illegal "in-kind contribution" to Biden's campaign.

"You will be notified as soon as the Federal Election Commission (FEC) takes final action on your complaint," the federal election law regulator wrote Parlatore in the letter, which assigned his complaint an official Matter Under Review case number to open an investigation.

"Should you receive any additional information in this matter, please forward it to the Office of the General Counsel," the agency added.
