Mr. Biden: My desire to increase US manufacturing and jobs in America is not about China. I'm not concerned about China.
Mr. Biden: A nuclear attack by North Korea against the United States or it's allies or partners is unacceptable, and will result in the end of whatever regime, were it to take such an action
Mr. Biden: I know him [President Trump] well, and I know the danger he presents to our democracy.
Mr. Biden: I inherited a nation in overwhelming debt at the time, in the hole for the four years that he was president. I inherited a nation that had a serious loss of credibility around the world, as America First…the first meeting I attended at G7, I said, 'America's back', and one of the world leaders said, 'For how long?'
Mr. Biden: With regard to age, I can't even say; I guess how old I am, I can't even say the number. It doesn't register with me.
Mr. Biden:They haven't figured out the debt limit yet. I'm happy to meet with McCarthy, but not on whether or not the debt limit gets extended. That's not negotiable.
Chairman Wenstrup: Americans are curious to know if the AFT [American Federation of Teachers] access was in line with CDC past practice, and if their influence had a positive or detrimental impact on America's children
Chairman Wenstrup: When [CDC] guidance was issued, it's recommendations would keep ninety percent of schools…from fully reopening. Primarily because of three recommendations: the use of community spread rates to determine reopening. A requirement for routine screening testing. And six feet of distancing, instead of three feet. None of these based in sound science at the time, but directly supported by the AFT.
Chairman Wenstrup: [American Federation of Teachers] support for these unscientific mitigation policies calls into question why it was offering scientific advice to the CDC in the first place.
Ruiz: According to a January 2020, McKinsey report, we've been set back two decades of progress in learning because of this pandemic, and it may take until 2050 for some students to recover.
Ruiz: It is because of these investments and this leadership that we were able to overcome the previous administration's COVID-19 response failures…failures such as downplaying the pandemic, calling it a hoax, a political ploy by democrats, not urgently acting to reduce transmission, not honestly communicating with the American public, and not effectively equipping our schools with the necessary resources to stay open. These actions…led to an estimated one hundred and thirty thousand preventable American deaths.
Weingarten [AFT]: We were talking to the Biden transition team before he was sworn into office.
[plotting to open schools to make Biden look good, President Trump look bad]
