Not trying to slide, but it is a lot of the reason I'm here. Some (~5decades) perspective.
It began back in the 70's-80's with the invasion from the California lefties...they've spread north like a plague.
It is as bad as the invasion from Mexico. Most of Northern CA was like Oregon/Washington. SanFran>south was the lefty world.
It was promised CA would fall off into the ocean...still waiting. They came north and comped all our voting, been rampant for
decades. Need a nationwide soft reset. Oregon/Washington 70% Red or more. Pockets of nutjobs that became the face of our Coast.
You see more MAGA and Trump stickers if you are outside of cities. People are fed up with the left, everywhere.
True Oregonians/Washingtonians felt the same way about Californians as we did the Russians in the cold war.
Consider, it also makes us front line of battle, Interstate 5 is a huge trafficking corridor to Canada.
