Caitlyn Jenner warns transgender athletes could 'destroy women's sport' in Sky News Australia exclusive interview
American media personality and former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner has claimed it is "terribly unfair" to allow transgender athletes to compete in women's sport.
Caitlyn Jenner has lashed out at activists campaigning for transgender athletes to compete in female sports.
The Olympic gold medallist, who is a transgender woman herself, insists the sanctity of biological women’s sport must be protected.
Ms Jenner told host Rita Panahi in a Sky News Australia Digital Exclusive she disagreed with transgender women competing in women’s sport over fears it could create an uneven playing field.
“When it comes to trans women in women's sports. From the beginning, I honestly I've been against it,” she said.
“I have always tried to protect women in women's sports. I think it can become terribly unfair for women. And honestly, I don't want to destroy women's sports.”

Sporting bodies have been forced to review their regulations amid growing controversy over transgender women competing in female competitions.
Basketball Australia last week banned a transgender woman from competing at an elite level while World Athletics and FINA have also both amended their regulations in the last year.
Ms Jenner – who won a men’s Olympic gold medal in the decathlon years before transitioning – said the amendments were necessary due to the biological differences between men and women.
“The big thing is not so much hormone levels later on in life. It is. Did you go through male puberty? Lia Thomas had big hands, big cardiovascular system. It was just totally unfair and had to stop,” he said.
“We won that battle again in track and field. Sebastian Coe, head of World Athletics, came back and said, ‘hey’, he takes fairness over equality and basically banned trans athletes there.”
Lia Thomas won a women’s NCAA Division 1 championship last year after spending 2017 to 2020 competing on the men's team.
She was the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA Div 1 championship in any sport.
In the US under Title IX legislation college sports are prohibiting sex-based discrimination in programs or activities that receive federal funding.
Ms Jenner said President Joe Biden was considering amending the legislation so it would apply to transgender athletes from sports teams that align with their gender identity rather than their sex at birth.
“With all this gender ideology going around right now, Joe Biden the Democrats have been on the wrong side… he's going to take Title IX and not like for women, but basically your gender identity, who you think you are,” she said.
