US deploys guided bombs in warning to Iran – media

America’s A-10 Warthog squadron in the Middle East will be outfitted with 250lb “bunker busters,” the Wall Street Journal has reported

American warplanes recently deployed to the Middle East will be armed with guided “bunker buster” bombs, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. US officials told the newspaper that the move is explicitly aimed at Iran.

Citing anonymous officials, the newspaper reported that the planes will each be fitted with up to 16 GBU-39/B guided bombs. Weighing 250lb (113kg), these munitions are designed to penetrate fortified positions –such as underground command bunkers – before exploding.

“The decision to put more powerful weapons on a squadron of A-10 Warthogs was designed to give pilots a greater chance of success in destroying ammunition bunkers and other entrenched targets in Iraq and Syria, where US forces have been repeatedly targeted by Iran-backed fighters,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

The paper did not specify whether these planes would operate out of US bases in Iraq and Syria, but did state that their deployment was intended to send a “message to Iran.” The aircraft arrived at a base in the United Arab Emirates late last month, shortly after their deployment was announced by US Central Command commander Gen. Michael Kurilla.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Montana became the latest state to ban or restrict gender-affirming medical care for transgender kids Friday when its Republican governor signed legislation that exiled transgender lawmaker Zooey Zephyr told fellow lawmakers would leave “blood” on their hands.

Montana is one of at least 15 states with laws to ban such care despite protests from the families of transgender youth that the care is essential.

Debate over Montana’s bill drew national attention after Republicans punished Zephyr for her remarks, saying her words were personally offensive. House Speaker Matt Regier refused to let Zephyr speak on the House floor until she apologized. She has not.

Zephyr decried the bill’s signing, saying “it is unconscionable to deprive Montanans of the care that we need.”

“I know that this is an unconstitutional bill. It is as cruel as it is unconstitutional. And it will go down in the courts,” Zephyr said. To trans youth she added: “There’s an understandable inclination towards despair in these moments, but know that we are going to win and until then, lean on community, because we will have one another’s backs.”

On Monday, Zephyr had stood defiantly on the House floor with her microphone raised as protesters shouted “Let her speak,” disrupting House proceedings for at least 30 minutes. Zephyr was then banned from the House and its gallery and voted on bills from a bench in the hallway outside the House on Thursday and Friday.

Federal judge blocks Illinois assault weapons ban

The measure also required existing owners of the now-outlawed firearms to register them with the state.

Afederal judge on Friday issued a temporary injunction blocking enforcement of an Illinois ban on certain semiautomatic rifles.

Illinois Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker in January signed into law the measure, which defined an assault weapons as a "semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine or that may be readily modified to accept a detachable magazine" should it also possess one or more external features unrelated to the weapon's firing capacity, such as various stocks, flash suppressors, or grenade launchers.

United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois Judge Stephen Patrick McGlynn granted the temporary stay, Fox News reported. McGlynn indicated that the court "must be mindful of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution."

The Protect Illinois Communities Act "did not just regulate the rights of the people to defend themselves; it restricted that right, and in some cases, completely obliterated that right by criminalizing the purchase and the sale of more than 190 'arms,'" he wrote.

The measure also required existing owners of the now-outlawed firearms to register them with the state.

600,000 Patriots March in Jerusalem to Save the Holy Land from Biden Regime Insurrection!

An estimated 600.000 patriots demonstrated in Jerusalem in favor of the conservative government Thursday as left-wing radicals were arrested for attacking economics minister Nir Barkat in Tel Aviv.

Patriotic NGOs Im Tirtzu, Regavim and others had called for a “Million Man March” on the day after Israel’s 75th birthday to show support of the right-wing government’s attempts to clean up the Justice System, which has been highjacked by far-left activists.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich spoke at the demonstration outside the Knesset: “Look how much strength we have. They have the media and tycoons who finance demonstrations. We have the majority of the people, who demand and give us full backing to fix what needs to be fixed. The people demand judicial reform and they will get it. We will not give up,” Smotrich said.

“It’s amazing to see here all the hundreds of thousands of people who came to say: ‘Reform now! Reform now!’”, said National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir: “You are patriots! You are lovers of the people of Israel! You are the beautiful people of Israel! Those [left-wing protest] organizers – like (former Prime Minister) Ehud Barak – don’t just care about the reform, they care that the right is in power. They did not accept that we won the elections, they are not ready to accept it, they will do everything to damage us and harm the State of Israel.”

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Abortion bans in Nebraska and South Carolina fell short of advancing in close votes amid heated debates among Republicans, confounding conservatives who have dominated both legislatures and further exposing the chasm on the issue of abortion within the GOP.

In Nebraska, where abortion is banned after 20 weeks of pregnancy, an effort to ban abortion at about the sixth week of pregnancy fell one vote short of breaking a filibuster. Cheers erupted outside the legislative chamber as the last vote was cast, with opponents of the bill waving signs and chanting, “Whose house? Our house!”

In South Carolina, lawmakers voted 22-21 to shelve a near-total abortion ban for the rest of the year. Republican Sen. Sandy Senn criticized Majority Leader Shane Massey for repeatedly “taking us off a cliff on abortion.”

“The only thing that we can do when you all, you men in the chamber, metaphorically keep slapping women by raising abortion again and again and again, is for us to slap you back with our words,” she said.

The Nebraska proposal, backed by Republican Gov. Jim Pillen, is unlikely to move forward this year. And in South Carolina, where abortion remains legal through 22 weeks of pregnancy, the vote marked the third time a near-total abortion ban has failed in the Republican-led Senate chamber since the U.S. Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade last summer.
