President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi said on Saturday after a face-to-face meeting with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid at a joint press conference that good relations have been established between Iran and Iraq in the political, economic, trade and cultural spheres.
He also added, "The relationship between Tehran and Baghdad goes beyond those of other countries and strategic ties."
According to IRNA, Raisi also noted, "Iranian-Iraqi relations continue in the areas of infrastructure, water and electricity, gas and energy, and through the use of existing capacities, the exchange between the two countries can increase by more than $10 billion."
Referring to the signing of the Iran-Iraq security memorandum last year, Raisi emphasized that the security of Iraq is extremely important for Iran and elaborated: “The security memorandum concluded between our two countries will help the security of the entire region, especially since the slightest insecurity in Iraq turns into a source of insecurity for Iran.”
