The Coronation Chair has taken centre stage during coronation ceremonies at Westminster Abbey since 1308. It is one of the most precious and famous pieces of furniture in the world.

After Edward I captured Scotland's Stone of Destiny in 1296, the 'Coronation Chair was made especially for it by Walter ofDurhambetween 1297 and 1300.
