A Minnesota lawmaker cast his vote in a Zoom meeting shirtless and lying in bed

Any remote worker's nightmare came to fruition on Monday for one Republican lawmaker who popped up on screen in a state of undress.

Minnesota State Sen. Calvin Bahr briefly appeared on screen shirtless when the state's Office of the Legislative Auditor met virtually to hold a vote.

Monday's Zoom meeting, which was live-streamed on YouTube, momentarily showed Bahr lying in bed with a background image of the anthropomorphic bill character from the "Schoolhouse Rock!" series on display.

He was visible for no more than a second before the camera swiftly panned up and his screen turned black, displaying just his name.

Bahr, a Republican, joined the Minnesota Senate earlier this year after serving in the state's House of Representatives for six years.

He did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

A Minnesota GOP Senate spokesperson appeared to offer an explanation.

They told Star Tribune local newspaper that Bahr had been working until 4.45 a.m. at his job as a truck driver before appearing on Zoom for the vote. They said Bahr would not be commenting himself.

Bahr's Zoom blunder is not the first of its kind, nor is it the worst. In April 2021, Canadian MP William Amos accidentally appeared naked on a parliamentary video call. At the time, he said he accidentally left his camera on while he was getting changed after a jog.
