Dr. John Eastman is a constitutional conservative and legal scholar who currently serves as the Senior Legal Fellow at The Claremont Institute. Dr. Eastman started his legal career as a clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas and, as a practicing attorney, quickly learned that working as counsel to conservative causes and clients was often frowned and ultimately blocked by big law firms and then in 2020, even the judiciary.
Throughout this episode of the Podcast, John and Cleta share “war stories” of their experiences with ideological (leftwing) roadblocks representing conservative advocacy or issue groups during their years as lawyers in big law firms and working to uphold constitutional rights and authority. Both have had efforts to enforce election laws or to bring election challenges to be adjudicated by courts thwarted by judges and partisan activists.
Dr. Eastman and Cleta discuss specific examples of how legal cases in 2020 that raised issues of election law violations were not welcome in the courts. The fallout since 2020 is that judges have continued to ignore and refuse to hear cases brought by conservative candidates, such that election codes have been turned on their heads without any remedy in the judicial system.
They also discuss the pattern over the past decade of leftist voting groups’ attacking the lawful authority of state legislators exercising their power and authority under the US Constitution to enact the election codes, but which have been overturned by judiciary often in collusive lawsuits, which has torn the fabric of the entire election system in state after state.
In a conversation on court requirements to determine “standing” (the right to bring a lawsuit), John and Cleta note that under federal rules of procedure, one must be able to prove injury to achieve standing. However, such standing requirements have seemingly been disregarded in election cases, as described by Dr. Eastman.
And, sadly, Dr. Eastman has been punished by leftists who have attacked him mercilessly for his representation of President Trump in the days following the 2020 election – and he now faces a challenge to his right to practice law in a proceeding before the California Bar Association filed by partisans who want all attorneys associated with the Trump 2020 presidential campaign to be permanently silenced and sidelined.

ROME (AP) — A meticulously reconstructed Pompeii bridal chariot that eluded the ancient city’s modern-day looters is a star of an ambitious new exhibition in Rome, which invites viewers to reflect on today’s connections with classical Roman and Greek civilizations.
Shown for the first time to the public since it was discovered in 2021 under four meters (13 feet) of volcanic ash, the four-wheeled chariot features silver and bronze decorations, including of erotic scenes.
The chariot was found under the ruins of a villa just outside Pompeii, an excavation prompted by the discovery that artifact thieves were tunneling through the area in hopes of finding saleable ancient loot.
Wooden parts of the chariot, like the sideboards, didn’t survive the A.D. 79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius that ended Pompeii’s run as a thriving, enterprising Roman city. But to reconstruct what didn’t survive of the chariot, experts used same the pioneering technique that have been employed for decades now to make casts of human victims of the eruption, by filling in the space left in the ash by the vanished organic matter.
In a sobering reminder how life can vanish in an instant, as reflected in the show’s title “The instant and eternity, between us and the ancients,” the casts of two male victims — one of the pair is believed to have been the enslaved person of the other man — were transported to Rome from Pompeii’s archaeological park to greet visitors at the exhibition’s entrance. …

Elon Musk threatens to reassign NPR’s Twitter account
WASHINGTON (AP) — Elon Musk threatened to reassign NPR’s Twitter account to “another company,” according to the non-profit news organization, in an ongoing spat between Musk and media groups since his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter last year.
“So is NPR going to start posting on Twitter again, or should we reassign @NPR to another company?” Musk wrote in one email late Tuesday to NPR reporter Bobby Allyn.
NPR stopped tweeting from its main account after Twitter abruptly labeled NPR’s main account as “ state-affiliated media ” last month, a term that’s also been used to identify outlets controlled or heavily influenced by authoritarian governments. Twitter then changed the label to “ government-funded media.”
NPR said that both labels were inaccurate and undermined its credibility — noting the nonprofit news company operates independently of the U.S. government. Federal funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting accounts for less than 1% of NPR’s annual operating budget, the company said.

Google to open two more data centers in Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Google plans to build two more data centers in Ohio to help power its artificial intelligence technology and other tools, the company and state officials announced Wednesday.
With one data center already up and running near Columbus, the two new locations will bring Google’s total investment in Ohio to more than $2 billion, officials said.
Ohio is seeing a wave of big investments by the technology industry.
Intel is building a $20 billion chip factory just east of Columbus, and Honda and LG Energy Solution of South Korea are building a $3.5 billion battery plant between Columbus and Cincinnati that the automaker envisions as its North American electric vehicle hub.
The area around Columbus also is home to data centers operated by Facebook and Amazon.
The two new Google data centers will be built in Columbus and Lancaster.
