Mom of Atlanta shooting suspect Deion Patterson says son opened fire after he got ‘messed up medication’

The mother of the alleged gunman wanted for killing one person and injuring at least four others inside an Atlanta hospital says her son opened fire after he received“messed up medication.”

Minyone Patterson – who is cooperating with police as they search for her son, Deion Patterson, 24 – appeared to blame his medication regimen for the shooting at Northside Hospital Medical Midtown Wednesday.

“The damn VA gave him some messed up medication, and all he wanted was an Ativan,” Minyone told The Daily Beast, referring to the medication used to treat seizure disorders such as epilepsy.

She did not elaborate further and hung up.

Officials said Deion and his mother were at the hospital on Wednesday afternoon when he became agitated and opened fire.

The Coast Guard identified Patterson as a guardsman who enlisted in 2018but was discharged from active duty in January 2023 after serving as an Electrician’s Mate second class.

The suspect is currently on the run, and police have warned the public that Patterson may be “armed and dangerous.”

Surveillance photos released showed the shooter wearing dark pants and a gray hoodie with the hood pulled up.

He had a mask on their face and appeared to be wearing a satchel across their front.

One of the victims was pronounced dead on the scene, and the others were taken to the nearby Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, officials said.

Three patients were listed in critical condition, and two were being operated on, Grady Health System Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Jansen told reporters.

Several Atlanta schools in the area were locked down “out of an abundance of caution” while the killer remained at large, school officials said.

The order was lifted as police believe the suspect carjacked a vehicle and is out of the downtown area.

…have ANY of the hoaxes against Trump truly harmed him? Carroll is a mentally unhinged puppet, likely under MK like Kavanaugh’s accuser.

There’s also no possibility of jail in the case. Trump isn’t calling any witnesses. Does he sound concerned?

BREAKING: City of Dallas disrupted by large cyberattack impacting multiple Services

📌#Dallas | #Texas

The City of Dallas, in Texas, experienced a large cyberattack that affected many important computer systems. As a result, it became difficult for the city to function properly. For instance, the computer-assisted dispatch system used by 911 dispatchers was not working, so they had to write down reports and give them to officers manually instead of submitting them electronically. To avoid the attack from spreading, the city had to turn off some of its IT systems.

Ransomware attack hampering Dallas police operations

DALLAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) – The City of Dallas confirmed that a ransomware attack compromised a number of servers in its system, including the Dallas Police Department's website.

Late Monday morning, CBS News Texas' J.D. Miles reported that the outage impacted the department's computer assisted dispatch system, called CAD, which directs police to emergencies and other calls.

The issue forced 911 call takers to manually write down instructions for the responding officers, who were only able to respond through their phones and radios.

CBS News Texas obtained an image the ransomware note. The hackers claim that they encrypted the city's critical data, and threatened to post sensitive information online.

In a statement Wednesday afternoon, the city said it is working to "isolate the ransomware to prevent its spread, to remove the ransomware from infected servers, and to restore any services currently impacted."
