He even wrote Taras Bulba the original Hohol (nickname for Ukrainians that has been recently Re-popularised by the Special Operation in Ukraine.
Believe it or not H in English is often swapped for G in Russian (See Robin Hood as Robin Good [Робин Гуд]). Therefore Hohol may also represent Gogol Гогол or shortened to GOG (as in GOG and Magog).
