actually, it didn't need to melt steel "beams" bcs the towers were built WITHOUT any internal "beams."
there were VERY light gauge trusses connecting the outer STRUCTURAL wall to the inner STRUCTURAL concrete column.
the trusses ONLY supported the weight of one floor, NOT the entire structure above.
