Something Different – Ed Sheeran Wins Copyright Lawsuit

May 4, 2023 | Sundance | 136 Comments

Media are reporting a decision in a copyright lawsuit between the estate of Marvin Gay and singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran. The jury has found Ed Sheeran did not violate any copyright infringement.

This sort of issue is not generally anything that interests me. However, I watched a great video a few days ago that encapsulates the issues in the lawsuit very well, and it presents an interesting set of questions. This is a really good video even if you have not paid attention. WATCH:

Casual Commentary from The Builder

May 4, 2023 | Sundance |

A short casual commentary from President Donald Trump as he shares the remodeled and rebuilt Turnberry Hotel and golf course with Nigel Farage.

(I get the feeling PDJT is more comfortable, more himself while in Scotland, the US is basically a terrorist country towards him and America First citizens.)

Zelensky is a ‘puppet’ – Lavrov

The tensions between Moscow and the West can only be resolved by talking with theUkrainian president’s foreign masters, Russia’s FM has said

The West and Russia will eventually sit down to discuss their differences, but this dialogue should be held not with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky but with those using him as a stooge, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Goa, India, Lavrov reiterated that Moscow had “never refused to settle issues arising from the actions of the US and their satellites to pump Ukraine with weapons” so that it could fight Russia.

The minister noted that many countries around the world are growing increasingly aware that thesetensions cannot be defused solely by freezing the Ukraine conflict. “Everyone understands that the ongoing events are geopolitical in nature,” he said.

“Without solving the main geopolitical problem – that of ==the West aspiring to hold onto its hegemony and impose its own will on all the others•=, – it is impossible to resolve crises in Ukraine and elsewhere in the world,” Lavrov added.

The Russian diplomat pointed to China’s 12-point plan for a political settlement in Ukraine, which was released in late February. Lavrov said that while the plan does seek to settle the conflict itself, it also focuses on much more global and comprehensive issues.

“All this has to be discussed, of course, not with Zelensky, who is a puppet in the hands of the West, but directly with his masters,” Lavrov said, noting that such talks would take place “sooner or later.”

In early April, amid speculation about an imminent Ukrainian spring counteroffensive, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken ruled out any peace negotiations between Kiev and Moscow, suggesting that such talks would only help Russia to "ratify" its territorial gains.

Moscow has repeatedly said it is open to talks with Kiev if the latter recognizes “the reality on the ground,” including the new status of four former Ukrainian regions that overwhelmingly voted to join Russia last autumn. However, around the same time as the referendums, Zelensky signed a decree prohibiting negotiations with the current Russian leadership.

Wagner boss announces ‘withdrawal from Bakhmut’

Evgeny Prigozhin says his troops need time to recover and has asked the regular Russian Army to take over their positions

The head of the Wagner Group Private Military Company, Evgeny Prigozhin, has announced that his forces will be withdrawing from the key Donbass city of Artyomovsk (known in Ukrainian as Bakhmut) on May 10.He has asked the Russian Army to take over the positions Wagner forces held in the city, while fighters recover.

In a video published on Prigozhin’s press service on Telegram, which was accompanied by an open letter addressed to the Defense Ministry, the president, and the people, the Wagner chief complained that his forces were not receiving enough artillery munitions and were unable to continue to hold the city, which is a regional logistics hub and was the site of months of urban warfare.

He said that his forces were supposed to have completely captured Artyomovsk by May 9, but claimed that since May 1, “paramilitary bureaucrats” had cut off his troops from nearly all artillery munitions.

“The offensive resources of PMC Wagner ran out at the beginning of April, but we are advancing despite the fact that the enemy forces outnumber us by five times,” Prigozhin said, adding that due to the lack of ammunition, Wagner’s losses are growing exponentially every day.

“Despite all this, the council of Wagner PMC commanders has decided to hold their positions and continue the offensive on Bakhmut until May 10, 2023, in order to celebrate the sacred holiday for Russians – May 9, Victory Day – with the brilliance of Russian weapons,” the statement reads.

Prigozhin declared that on May 10, his fighters will hand over their positions in Artyomovsk to the Russian Army and withdraw the remnants of the Wagner PMC to rear camps to “lick their wounds.”

The PMC chief concluded by saying “we will lick our wounds, and when the motherland will be in danger, we will once again stand for its defense. The Russian people can count on us.”

Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said the Kremlin is aware of Prigozhin’s statement, but declined to comment on the matter, as it has to do with Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

The battle for Artyomovsk, a key rail and road junction in Donbass, has emerged as one of the most intense and bloody engagements of the conflict in Ukraine, with both sides reportedly suffering significant casualties. Wagner forces have been at the forefront of the street fighting in the city. Kiev has sent tens of thousands of soldiers to the front, despite Wagner and other Russian troops establishing control over all the supply roads, leaving the Ukrainians almost surrounded.

(Why would Russia do this? Cutting off ammunition sounds counter to the goal? Is this fake and ghey? Are they really pulling out?)

London comments on claims arms for Kiev being resold

There have been “isolated reports” that weapons sent to Ukraine have been diverted away from the front line, Armed Forces Minister James Heappey said

Some weapons supplied to Kiev by its Western backers could have changed hands before they had a chance to reach the frontline, UK Armed Forces Minister James Heappey admitted on Thursday, without clarifying the exact amount or types of arms that allegedly lost their way.

Last week, Scottish MP Kenny MacAskill asked the minister to estimate theproportion of British military aid sent to Ukraine that had been resold before reaching the nation’s troops.

On Thursday, Heappey replied that the UK has “robust procedures” in place to ensure that all assistance going through the International Donor Coordination Centre is handed over to the Ukrainian army.

However, he conceded that “there have been isolated reports” – although extremely rare – saying that equipment given to Ukraine had been diverted away from the front line. He stopped short of providing any further detail.

Russia has repeatedly warned that Western weapons sent to Kiev areending up in the hands of organized crime groups and terrorists, destabilizingthe security situation in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

Those concerns were echoed by Seymour Hersh, a veteran US journalist and author of a bombshell report alleging that the Nord Stream gas pipeline blasts were orchestrated by Washington. In late April, he claimed that theWest was well aware that its arms were being soldby Ukrainian commanders to smugglers in states such as Poland and Romania.

According to official figures, as of late March, the UK has committed £2.3 billion ($2.9 billion) in military assistance to Ukraine since the start of the conflict in February 2022, second only to the US. Britain also hosts a training program for Ukrainian troops and is seeking to prepare as many as 30,000 soldiers by the end of 2023.

Moscow has on numerous occasions warned the West that supporting Ukraine with arms and training its troops makes it a direct participant in the conflict.

(Afghanistan all over again…our Pentagon, DOD are incompetent loons. Kash said is his first job at the Pentagon was to stop the bleeding of millions or billions of dollars wasted by them.)

South American nation blasts US over treatment of migrants

Colombia suspended its repatriation program due to poor detention conditions and mistreatment, the authorities have said

Bogota has suspended the repatriation of citizens from the US, citing cruel treatment of migrants and repeated 11th-hour cancelations of flights, the local authorities have said.

In a statement on Thursday, Fernando Garcia Manosalva, Colombia’s migration agency director, said the country expects to receive around 1,200 migrants – mostly women and minors – back from the US between May 1 and 7 as part of a pilot plan to alleviate pressure on America’s southern border.

However, the agency accused the US of breaching agreements on the matter. Manosalva claimed that flights scheduled for May 1 and 2 were both canceled by North American migration agencies, and that this was not the first time.

Bogota also complained of what it called the “cruel and degrading” treatment Colombians receive from the authorities before and during the flights. The migration agency director pointed to “the use of restrictive elements such as hand and foot handcuffs, even for mothers,”adding that the matter is being discussed with the US authorities.

In addition, “there are recurring complaints about the poor conditions in detention centers andmistreatment during flights, which represented a determining factor in the decisions taken in the last few hours,”Manosalva stated.

An unnamed US official told Reuters that the pause only applies to flights carrying families.

The number of Colombians entering the US has increased in recent years, with around 125,000 migrants apprehended at the southern border in 2022, according to US Customs and Borders Protection data.

The pilot plan seeks to repatriate 1,200 Colombians before the expiration of Title 42, a controversial Trump-era order which allows the US to expel migrants from countries where a communicable disease – including Covid-19 – is present. The order is set to lapse on May 11 when the Covid-19 public health emergency is set to end.

Human rights advocates have repeatedly voiced concerns about US immigration policies. In April 2022, a Human Rights First report claimed that the administration of US President Joe Biden had put tens of thousands of migrants in jails in violation of international law, subjecting them to physical and psychological harm.(well there are 10 of 1,000s of criminals and insane migrants coming.)

(Its pretty hypocritical when a South American countries complains about the treatment of the illegal migrants they willingly send to the USA. Fuck Joe Bidan and South American leaders. Time to shouting about cages now.)

Russia and US on verge of ‘open armed conflict’ – Moscow

It is time for Washington to think about its own safety, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has warned

After the recent drone incident at the Kremlin, which Moscow has called a US-backed attempt by Ukraine to assassinate President Vladimir Putin, the US and Russia are on the verge of a shooting war with each other, a senior Russian diplomat has said.

“We are working on preventing a fall of our relations with the US into the abyss of an open armed conflict,” Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in a TV interview on Friday. “We are already on the verge of this abyss.”

Ryabkov described officials in Washington as “opponents” and “enemies” of Russia due to what he called Russophobic policies which are being pursued in spite of the risks.

“The anger and hatred towards Russia with which Washington acts in a situation in which it frankly should think of its own safety, is inexplicable,” he said.

At the moment, “no real diplomacy” regarding the Ukraine conflict is possible between the two nations, because the US “has bet on further escalation,” according to Ryabkov.

The US has long been a direct participant in the conflict and has long been waging an open hybrid war against my nation.

The deputy foreign minister said Washington tends to dismiss the statements of Russian officials, citing remarks made by Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding Russia’s claim that Ukraine was behind the drone attack on the Kremlin.

“I would take anything coming out of the Kremlin with a very large shaker of salt,”Blinken told the Washington Post. (Blinken only makes things worse, if the US thinks other EU countries will join them in and out and out war with Russia, they should rethink the alignment of all the major countries in the world on Russia’s side.)

“We leave it to Ukraine to decide how it is going to defend itself,” he added. Kiev denies having any involvement in the attack on the Kremlin.

The US government is treating “any signals coming from Moscow as an element of a disinformation campaign,” Ryabkov said.Meanwhile, Russia is “literally ready to use any means at its disposal” to deter threats to its security and the safety of its leadership, he added.

He also reiterated the Russian claims that Washington shares responsibility with Kiev for the incident, which the US denies. Their statements of non-involvement are “not convincing anyone,” and are reminiscent of “how they attempted to pretty much blame us for the bombing of the Nord Stream,” Ryabkov said.

(Warning #1 to Washington, Russia has with held its responses over many incidents, as Rebekkah Koffler said, the Bidan is playing a dangerous and insane game with Russia, and this will be the last straw before a possible WWIII)

Julian Assange makes ‘Kingly Proposal’ to Charles III

In a letter ahead of his coronation, the WikiLeaks founder urged Britain’s new monarch to visit the prison that bears his name

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange wrote a letter to King Charles III on Friday, calling on the monarch to visit His Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh and observe the “world class”conditions within its walls.

Writing in sarcastic and florid language, Assange described the maximum security lockup as being “just a short foxhunt from the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich,” telling the King that it must be “delightful” to have “such an esteemed establishment bear your name.”

“As a political prisoner, held at Your Majesty’s pleasure on behalf of an embarrassed foreign sovereign, I am honoured to reside within the walls of this world class institution,” Assange continued. “Truly, your kingdom knows no bounds.”

The jailed journalist described the “culinary delights” served to inmates alone in their cells, the prisoners’ recreational use of prescription drugs, the prohibition on the playing of chess for “healthcare” reasons, rodent infestations, and the suicide of one of his friends – a gay man who hung himself before his deportation to Brazil.

“I implore you, King Charles, to visit His Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh, for it is an honour befitting a king,” Assange’s letter concluded. “As you embark upon your reign, may you always remember the words of the King James Bible: ‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy’ (Matthew 5:7). And may mercy be the guiding light of your kingdom, both within and without the walls of Belmarsh.”

Assange was arrested by British authorities in 2019, after Ecuador revoked his asylum status and allowed police officers to remove him from the country’s embassy in London, where he had been sheltered since 2012. On the day of his arrest, the US Department of Justice unsealed a multi-count indictment against Assange, slapping him with 17 charges under the Espionage Act, which can potentially carry the death penalty.

Assange is currently fighting an extradition request from Washington, and his lawyers have appealed a prior ruling authorizing extradition, on the grounds of his declining health.

The charges against Assange stemmed from his communications with whistleblowers, most importantly Chelsea Manning, who in 2010 gave WikiLeaks classified materials alleging US war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Although Assange did not personally hack these materials, he was still charged for his role in publishing them.

News outlets, celebrities, free speech activists, and some US and international politicians have all called on US President Joe Biden to drop the charges against Assange.
