I do gather the "grubby posers" were just the stars for normies to chase while clandestine agents did the actual missions. Could have died or been killed for all we know. Hard to say much with certainty.
What's craziest to me is the relatively short timeline between the development of viable flight and viable space flight. Everything just seemed to fall into place from WWII on, didn't it? From all the X-planes and such to the rockets and beyond. Either a lot is bullshit, which I don't necessarily believe, or there was…something else at play. Something moar than leveraged Nazis.
