She never would have got his Senate seat. He was young and would have been re-elected in NY for a long time.
One of my relatives was at his funeral actually. Big Clinton supporter. It was always very suspicious when the Clintons were out of the White House and they were already talking about her getting a Senate seat. They were picking states. She was deciding where to go like a free agent sports star. They wanted to go to NY, but they said she wasn't going to get his seat and she would never get elected in the other district. Before he died they were talking about that in the NY Post. That's why they called her a carpetbagger for going to NY even though she had no ties there.
