Rent, car payments etc. If it gets super bad the government would have to step in to help with panic and create some form of commerce quickly with maybe even a new digital currency as that would get to people faster might be tied in through IRS or something. Catastrophic collapse would be global though not just in one nation. It would be a domino effect. International trade would halt beacuse no one would know if they or how they are getting paid.
