GOP Rep. George Santos surrendered at the courthouse in Central Islip, New York on Wednesday.

The federal grand jury returned a 13-count indictment.

Earlier this year House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told reporters that George Santos will be removed from Congress if it is determined the freshman Rep. broke the law.

George Santos flipped New York’s 3rd Congressional district red in November when he defeated Robert Zimmerman.

In December Santos admitted he lied about his education, employment history and Jewish background in an interview with the New York Post.

House probe unveils fresh evidence contradicting Joe Biden claims about family’s foreign deals

Rep. James Comer’s second report lifts veil on money from Romanian corruption figure, direct Chinese payments

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee on Wednesday directly challenged President Joe Biden’s claims about his family’s overseas business deals, providing fresh evidence son Hunter Biden got money directly from China and was involved in a business deal with a Romanian figure accused of corruption.

The information also appears to show the first son helped arrange for one of his foreign business associates to meet with his father’s vice presidential office.

In his second interim report, committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said his panel was increasingly concerned that Hunter Biden and his partners engaged in a pattern of making lucrative business deals with foreign figures suspected of corruption in countries for which his father had official U.S. policy responsibilities.

That pattern was first exposed years ago with a deal with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings that U.S. officials deemed corrupt.

"The committee has uncovered evidence indicative of influence peddling and financial deception warranting further investigation and legislative solutions," Comer’s panel wrote in a 36-page report.

Number of civilians killed by Kiev in Donbass named by Russia

The actions of Ukrainian forces have led to 5,000 casualties in the region since 2014, Moscow’s top investigator has said.

Ukrainian forces have killed over 5,000 people in Donbass since 2014, the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Aleksandr Bastrykin, has said. He made his comment while describing the work of his agency in prosecuting the alleged crimes of the “Kiev regime” during the International Youth Legal Forum in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

“[We act] first remotely, then on site. Exposing the instances of mass burials of civilians,” he explained.

There are 138 minors among the victims, for whom the committee seeks to bring justice, Bastrykin revealed. Over 9,500 civilians, including 444 children, were injured in Donbass by Ukrainian fire during the same period of time, the official added.

Earlier this week, the Donetsk People’s Republic claimed over 4,500 of its residents had lost their lives since the start of the escalation of the conflict in Donbass on February 17, days before Moscow launched its military operation. Some 135 children were among those killed, the DPR mission to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukrainian war crimes stated. Kiev escalated attacks against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in mid-February 2022.

Disney board banned X-rated stores and liquor shops from property, overlooking prisons

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Before allies of Gov. Ron DeSantis took over, Disney World’s governing district, which at the time was controlled by Disney supporters, reached an agreement in February with the company to prohibit a long list of businesses from ever being operated on its property.

Forbidden establishments included tattoo parlors, liquor stores, adult entertainment, oil refineries and trailer parks. But they didn’t include prisons, which the Florida governor recently mused could be built there, when talking in a trolling tone about his year-long feud with the entertainment giant.

“What should we do with this land? And so, you know, it’s like, OK, kids — I mean, people have said, you know, maybe have another — maybe create a state park. Maybe try to do more amusement parks. Someone even said, like, maybe you need another state prison,” DeSantis said last month. “Who knows? I mean, I just think that the possibilities are endless.”

The agreement, which the DeSantis allies say stripped them of power by giving Disney control of design and construction of the theme park resort, is at the center of dueling lawsuits between the DeSantis-appointed board and Disney, as well as a new law seeking to rescind the deal that the Republican-controlled Florida Legislature passed last week.
