Migrants Arrive in Sanctuary City Chicago with Colds, Pink Eye, COVID-19: ‘It’s Unsustainable’

Border crossers and illegal aliens arriving in the sanctuary city of Chicago, Illinois, are showing up with colds, pink eye, and carrying the Chinese coronavirus as Mayor Lori Lightfoot has declared a state of emergency.

Since August 2022, more than 8,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in Chicago — mostly bused from the United States-Mexico border.

According to the New York Times, those new arrivals to Chicago are showing up with illnesses and leaving residents with a $125 million bill by the end of next month while state taxpayers will have to fork up $30 million.

The Times reports:

Some of the migrants, including pregnant women and small children, are ill with colds, pink eye or Covid-19, leaving volunteers and city workers scrambling to find them health services. [Emphasis added]

“It’s unsustainable,” said Maria Hadden, a City Council member who represents Rogers Park on the Far North Side. [Emphasis added]

Border crossers and illegal aliens arriving in Chicago, as expected, have limited English skills and need help finding places to sleep. The city’s social and economic issues are only being exacerbated by illegal immigration, a point of contention for residents.

“Whose park district is going to close down and move programming?” a Chicago councilwoman told the Times. “Which school is not going to be able to do summer programming? Are we going to have to cancel some things at Navy Pier?”

As Breitbart News reported, Lightfoot declared a state of emergency just a couple of days before President Joe Biden ends one of the few remaining border controls, known as Title 42, at the border.

“… we’ve reached a breaking point … today we responded to the arrival of 48 more individuals and families that needed emergency support and shelter,” Lightfoot said. “… Chicago simply does not have the infrastructure or resources to continue humanely providing for migrants.”

According to Lightfoot, Chicago’s “pre-existing facilities and our newly created facilities are full” to the max with border crossers and illegal aliens, spurring the city to house new arrivals in police stations and abandoned schools, as Breitbart News has reported.

BRICS to Launch Common Currency for International Trade?

As the annual summit is set to take place this summer, the BRICS Alliance is reportedly set to discuss the potential launch of a common currency used for international trade. Subsequently, the nations are continuing their efforts to dethrone the US dollar’s dominance in global trade.

De-dollarization has been a consistent headline so far in 2023. Moreover, the economic bloc has been discussing a potential alternative while utilizing the Chinese yuan and other national currencies for international settlements. Conversely, the upcoming summit will undoubtedly include discussions on currency alternatives.

BRICS Creating Common Currency for Trade

The rising prevalence of the BRICS nations has been an interesting development over the last year. Additionally, its well-documented attempts at lessening the US dollar’s position globally have taken hold. Subsequently, the development of a currency specific to the economic bloc has dominated discourse in recent weeks.

Now, it appears as though the BRICS alliance is set to potentially launch a common currency for international trade. Specifically, Bloomberg reported the development that is set to be a vital talking point at the upcoming summit taking place in South Africa.

Big Oil Tries To Buy Its Own Courts

Texas oil and gas companies could soon have their business cases heard by judges handpicked by a close ally: Gov. Greg Abbott.

When Texas oil and gas companies need to remove a legal roadblock to drilling, or answer for alleged wrongdoing, they head to court — and a bill that could be considered by the state legislature as early as Thursday would hand them considerable sway in picking the judges that hear some of their cases.

The state’s $200 billion fossil-fuel industry has thrown its weight behind legislation that would create a new system of district courts to hear certain disputes involving corporations. While 26 states already have so-called business courts, the Texas proposal has a unique feature: Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who has been bankrolled by fossil fuel donors, would have the power to personally appoint judges, who would then serve two-year terms — a tenure that would let Abbott quickly remove judges if they deny favorable rulings to his supporters.

The legislation backed by the oil industry comes just after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed climate cases against fossil fuel companies to proceed in state courts. Opponents of the business-court plan say that not only would it run afoul of the state constitution, which mandates the popular election of district and appellate judges, it could also set a dangerous national precedent by undermining the independence of the judiciary.

As a result, cases that would otherwise be heard by judges elected by communities in their districts could instead be forced into courts controlled by the governor — and by extension, his donors.

Abbott, who has raked in more than $42 million of campaign cash from the oil and gas industry during his career, has already raised eyebrows by appointing some of those donors to political positions — including an oil tycoon whom he tapped to head the agency overseeing the state’s energy grid.

Some experts also raised alarms about a separate intervention by Abbott into the legal process last month, when he called for the pardon of a man convicted of killing a protester before his sentencing had even taken place.

The business court bill exacerbates those concerns by allowing the governor to handpick judges overseeing cases impacting some of his largest contributors.

Since they serve terms shorter than his own, “there’s a real danger that he can just swap them out every two years if they aren't making the kinds of rulings he wants,” said Texas-based commercial practice attorney Michael Smith. “It’s a basic separation of powers issue.”

Smith testified against the bill last month on behalf of the Texas chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), one of three statewide legal associations opposing the measure alongside several Democratic appeals court judges and state consumer groups.

The push for business courts is backed by a broad swath of industries, including lobbying groups representing the different segments of the state’s fossil fuel sector, as well as Energy Transfer, the pipeline company owned by billionaire Abbott donor Kelcy Warren.

COVID Vaccine roll-out caused 338x increase in AIDS-associated Diseases & Cancers in 2021 says CDC

Official data made available by the U.S. Government and Centers for Disease Control strongly suggests that fully vaccinated Americans may be developing Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or a similar disease that is decimating the innate immune system.

But they are not alone, because further data made available by the UK Government and the Government of Canada suggests the vaccinated population in both of these respective countries are also developing the debilitating condition.

It’s a common misconception that Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is only caused by the HIV virus. This simply isn’t true.

Acquired (or secondary) immunodeficiency is one of the major causes of infections in adults. These immunodeficiency disorders affect your immune system partially or as a whole, making your body an easy target for several diseases and infections. (Source)

When immunodeficiency disorders affect your immune system, your body can no longer fight bacteria and diseases. (Source)

Several factors in the environment can cause secondary immunodeficiency disorders. ‌(Source)

Some common ones are:

Radiation or chemotherapy, which can lead to a secondary immunodeficiency disorder known as neutropenia

Infections due to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can result in acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)

Leukaemia, a cancer that begins in the cells of the bone marrow that can lead to hypogammaglobulinemia—a type of secondary immunodeficiency

Malnutrition, which affects up to 50% of populations in underdeveloped countries and leaves people vulnerable to respiratory infections and diarrhoea

But some of the less common causes include Drugs or medications. (Source)

So it’s perfectly possible for a medication or drug to cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, and data published by the U.S Government and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) strongly suggests the Covid-19 injections should be added to the list.

For months on end, official data coming out of both the UK and Canada has strongly insinuated that the vaccinated population are developing a new form of AIDS. This is because the Covid-19 injections are proving to have a real-world negative effectiveness, implying that they are causing damage to the natural immune system.

Here’s a table showing the case rates per 100,000 by vaccination status in England from week 51 of 2021 to week 12 of 2022 –

Criminal cartels will keep order at the border to maximize their profits: Yuma Border Patrol Chief

"If you have too many or cause too much chaos, it's going to hurt profits," he argued.

While many officials have warned that the end of Title 42 Thursday night will usher in chaos at the southern border and a surge of illegal migration, former Yuma Sector Border Patrol Chief Chris Clem suggested that order will be maintained by an unlikely source: Mexican cartels.

Clem, who has twenty-seven years of federal law enforcement experience, argued that because chaos will hinder their operations, cartels will keep things under control to ensure they are able to continue functioning.

"People that are really orchestrating this do not want to make it any more painful," Clem said in an interview with the Daily Mail. "There's money to be made every time a person crosses the border … If they make it a big disaster by having disorganized chaos, there's going to be a response.

He suggested that the cartels "have adjusted their business model to handle a few thousand a day," and that, "if you have too many or cause too much chaos, it's going to hurt profits."

Clem went on to note, however, that if his theory proved incorrect and there was a massive surge of illegal migrants, the response from the US side would be ready.

"I think it is very well coordinated," he said of the American border patrol effort, "not because of the administration, because of the people that are running the agencies. It is the men and women on the ground."

The Biden administration has beefed up its efforts to quell a potential surge, as have border states. Texas has taken the strongest approach, deploying a new "Tactical Border Force" to assist the thousands of agents already hard at work protecting the country.

Musk announces he has picked Twitter's next CEO

His decision to hand the job over to someone else follows a December Twitter poll Musk organized asking users of the platform whether they would like to see him remain as CEO.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced on Thursday that he had selected someone to replace him as head of the company and that she would begin the job in short order.

"Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter," Musk announced. "She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops."

Musk did not name his replacement.

His decision to hand the job over to someone else follows a December Twitter poll Musk organized, asking users of the platform whether they would like to see him remain as CEO.

"Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll," he wrote at the time.

A sizeable majority, 57.5%, of more than 17.5 million respondents voted for his ouster.

Since purchasing the platform last year, Musk's tenure has been controversial as the billionaire has largely rolled back the prior management's content moderation practices that conservatives had criticized as political censorship.

He further oversaw the rollout of a paid subscription service, Twitter Blue, by which users may pay for the blue checkmark badge and other features.

Report: Nearly 25% of medical science papers and 34% of neuroscience papers are bogus

For years, the public has been instructed to "follow the science." That might prove especially difficult if the science is bunkum.

German researchers have determined that at least one-quarter of the scientific papers circulated in recent years were likely plagiarized or altogether bogus.

The driving force behind this worsening trend is so-called paper mills, which "use AI-supported, automated production techniques at scale and sell fake publications to students, scientists, and physicians under pressure to advance their careers."

While fake publications are not a new phenomenon — with some activists even disseminating their own to indict the academy in recent years — it was previously unknown how bad the situation was in the world of biomedicine.

Bernhard Sabel of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, who also serves as editor in chief of the journal "Restorative Neurology and Neuroscience," endeavored to find out using "a simple method to red-flag them and estimate their number."

According to the newly released study conducted by Sabel and other German researchers, which has itself yet to undergo peer review, there were an estimated 300,000 red-flagged, fake publications among the 1.3 million biomedical publications listed in the SCImago portal. Sabel estimated around 34% of neuroscience papers published in 2020 were bogus.

"It is just too hard to believe," Sabel told the journal Science, suggesting that it is as if "somebody tells you 30% of what you eat is toxic."

To ascertain whether a publication was legitimate or not, Sabel sent questionnaires to various authors.

"Based on author responses, three indicators were identified: 'author’s private email', 'international co-author' and 'hospital affiliation,'" he said.

After fine-tuning his approach such that he was able to flag 90% of bogus papers in a test sample, Sabel found that the RFP rate skyrocketed from 16% in 2010 to 28% in 2020.

When broken down on a national basis, the worst offenders were Russia, Turkey, China, Egypt, and India — with China being the worst of all, accounting for 55.8% of all potentially fraudulent papers. The U.S., by way of comparison, accounted for 7.3% of potential fake publications globally.

Sabel underscored that the "scale and proliferation of fake publications in biomedicine can damage trust in science, endanger public health, and impact economic spending and security."

The study noted, for instance, that "712 problematic papers were cited >17,000 times and estimated that abut one quarter of them may misinform future development of human therapies."

Just as academics' are desperate to keep up with universities' publication expectations, paper mills are keen to keep up with academics' demand for bogus papers.

"Assuming an average $10,000 price tag for a fake publication, the estimated annual revenue of paper mills is up to $3-4 billion," reported Sabel.

"Paper mills have made a fortune by basically attacking a system that has had no idea how to cope with this stuff," Dorothy Bishop, a University of Oxford psychologist who studies bogus publishing practices told Science.

It is presently unclear how the ubiquity of generative AI technologies like ChatGPT and Bard will affect this growing industry, although the study suggests that the "emergence of Chat-GPT and more sophisticated large language models might amplify the production of fake papers at less cost."

In addition to Sabel's technique, the International Association of Scientific, Technical, and Medical Publishers, which represents 120 publishers, is working on tools to similarly separate the wheat from the chaff.

Joris van Rossum, the product director of the corresponding initiative called Integrity Hub, called it "a bit of an arms race."

Child from Big Rivers region in Northern Territory dies after contracting mosquito-borne disease Murray Valley encephalitis

Health authorities are again urging residents to remain vigilant of their surroundings, following the second death of a child this year related to the disease amid rising case numbers.

A child has become the second person to die this year after contracting mosquito-borne disease Murray Valley encephalitis.

The Northern Territory Health Department confirmed the death on Thursday, revealing the infant from the Big Rivers Region died in early May.

This is the second child to lose their life to the rare disease in just over two months, following the death of a Western Australia youngster in April.

It is the third death in the country, after a woman from Victoria died when she contracted MVE in either the Buloke Shire or Swan Hill.

The child's death means there have been four case of the disease reported in the NT, two from Big Rivers in young infants, one in the Barkly region and the other in the Top End.

In the past two decades there have been six deaths confirmed to authorities from MVE, as cases doubled compared to the previous five years.

A veterinary lab has conducted mosquito testing in the territory and confirmed the virus was present in mosquitoes in the Top End, Central Australia and Barkly regions.

MVE is uncommon but it can be fatal when bitten by a mosquito carrying the virus.

It is especially dangerous in children and the elderly.

Some of the symptoms include headaches, high fever, tremors, seizures, and in worst cases can lead to a coma or permanent brain damage or death.

Health authorities have issued a public health alert warning residents to be extra vigilant following heavy rain and floods or waterways where mosquitoes can breed.

The insects are most active during the night and early in the morning, with the high risk months between February and end of June.

Those in regional communities, visiting parks and recreational areas have also been told to remain cautious.

MVE is not the only virus circulating, the Japanese encephalitis is another potential fatal disease if a person is bitten.
