That's the thing. It's not focused. It's in the view finder, or lens if you will, but it's anything but focused. Just try to look at the moon with you phone or a cheap digital camera. You'll get a round ball of light, but you won't be able to focus.

You'll get a round glowing sphere, but you won't be able to focus enough to see craters or anything…. Unless you have one hell of a camera in your phone.
