Reporter: Can you tell us how many migrant children are presently in US custody?

Jean-Pierre: I would refer you to the HHS. I don't have those numbers in front of me.

Jean-Pierre: The website has not reported any data on this since January, and they are typically reported once a month, so in light,especially of this migrant death of a child, just want to know why that date is not there; will it be released to us.

Jean-Pierre: Our hearts go out to the family members…there's a medical investigation..as far as the data, that is something that comes from HHS, so I will have to refer you to them.

Reporter: Will the administration be working to track that down? Because especially after the New York Times report that HHS lost contact with eighty-five thousand children over the last two years, and lost immediate contact with a third of migrant children, that data not being there is alarming.

Reporter: I expect HHS to provide that data….I just don't have that data at this time

Reporter: On the ruling in Florida last night against these releases [of illegals]…what's the backup plan?

Jean-Pierre: On the ruling, the way we see that; it's sabotage. It's pure and simple….the claims that CBP is allowing or encouraging mass release of migrants is just categorically false. It is a harmful ruling, and the Department of Justice is going to fight it.

Reporter: To be precise, are you saying that the Florida attorney general is attempting to sabotage your policy, or the Trump-appointed judge?

Jean-Pierre: Migrants who do not have a lawful basis to remain will be quickly removed…even before Title 42 lifted, the attorney general of Florida filed suit to sabotage our effort to humanely and effectively manage the border…instead of trying to deal with an issue, or talking to the federal government how to deal with an issue…they actually sabotage what we're trying to do.
