So it was emphasizing how it has no effect right? Instead couldn't one use, “it absolutely had no effect” instead of using had, had, had, had. I have to look that up why it’s acceptable. Or can you explain?

Largest narco-submarine in history seized

The 30-meter vessel was stuffed with three tons of cocaine

The Colombian Navy has intercepted the largest cartel-manufactured cocaine submarine in history and seized 102 packages of its lucrative cargo. The illegalvessel was as long as some military submarines.

The operation was announced by the country’s navy on Friday. In a statement, the navy said that its ships picked up the submarine on radar in the Pacific Ocean and summoned Colombian Air Force aircraft to track its progress.

Despite inclement weather, a unit of marines managed to interdict the vessel and arrest three people on board. The arrests saved the crew’s lives, the navy said, as the submarine had begun to sink due to a leak in its engine area.

The marines recovered 102 packages of cocaine weighing just over three tons. After several attempts to refloat the sinking sub, it was scuttled to avoid disrupting shipping in the area.

The submarine itself was30 meters long and three meters wide, making it the largest narco-submarine seized since the first such device was discovered in 1993. Designed and built by drug cartels, these vessels are technically semi-submersibles, as they travel just below the water’s surface to avoid detection.

The submarine’s dimensions are comparable to those of an Iranian Ghadir-class attack submarine.

Over the past three decades, theColombian Navy has intercepted a total of 228 narco-subsin the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Four have been seized so far this year.

The sub’s three-ton haul is far from the largest single cocaine bust by the Colombian authorities. Police officers raiding a farm near the city of Medellinin 2017 seized 13.4 tons of the narcotic, a haul that has not been matched in the six years since. The largest seizure in US history took place in 2019, when almost20 tons of cocaine – worth over a billion dollars – was found aboard a cargo ship near Delaware Bay.

Six children injured in missile strike on Lugansk

A US-made decoy missile was recovered after the long-range Ukrainian attack

Six children were injured in an attack on the Donbass city of Lugansk on Friday, according to the local authorities. Two of the wounded minors have reportedly been hospitalized.

At least two missiles struck the Poly-pack food processing factory and the Milam home goods store in central Lugansk on Friday afternoon. The attack came as the Lugansk People’s Republiccelebrated a national holiday. While the factory was closed, the blasts shattered the windows of surrounding residential homes.

The acting head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, called the strike “barbaric” and a “cynical war crime of the Kiev regime,” vowing it will “not go unpunished.”

Unlike Donetsk, which continues to be shelled,Lugansk was long considered to be out of range of Ukrainian artillery. The Russian authorities initially suspected that Kiev’s forces had used Grom tactical missiles.

Shortly after the strike, however, a US-made ADM-160B decoy missile was recovered largely intact in the city center. It was unclear whether Kiev’s forces had deployed the decoys to fool the Russian air defenses, or had somehow rigged them with explosive warheads and used them in the strike.

According to the specification provided by its maker Raytheon, the ADM-160B has a maximum range of 800 kilometers. The decoys were not on the Pentagon’s official lists of almost $40 billion worth of weaponry and ammunition the US has provided to Kiev since President Joe Biden took office.

Ukraine recently received an unspecified number of British Storm Shadow missiles, with a range of up to 250km. Kiev has repeatedly targeted Russian territory with drones and improvised missiles, claiming it to be legitimate self-defense against the Russian “invasion.”

On Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry calledthe Storm Shadow delivery “yet another extremely hostile step by London” that “clearly confirms the unprecedented level of British involvement” in the conflict. Moscow reserves the right to “take all necessary measures to neutralize the threats that may arise” from the use of these missiles, with the UK bearing all the responsibility for the consequences.

British next-gen warship ‘sabotaged’

A probe was launched into suspected “intentional” damage aboard the frigate HMS Glasgow

British defense contractor BAE Systems is assessing the scope of repairs needed following an alleged act of sabotage on theRoyal Navy’s newest frigate, which is still under construction.

“We uncovered alimited number of cableson HMS Glasgow earlier in the week, which appear to have beendamaged intentionally,” a spokesperson for the company responsible for the construction and fitting out of the ship said in a statement to the media on Friday.

The company added that it had suspended work on the frigate in order to “inspect every area of the vessel and ensure our high standards and quality controls are met.”

According to the UK Defence Journal, which first reported the incident, more than 60 cableswere cut aboard the vessel. The publication said it is believed that “an issue related to payment disputes” could have been the motive.

HMS Glasgow is the first of the next-generation City-class frigates currently being built in the UK. The Royal Navy describesthem as “exceptional ships” designed to carry helicopters and smaller vessels. The Glasgow was launched in December and is expected to enter service in the mid-2020s. The ship is currently docked at a yard in Scotstoun, a suburb of Glasgow, Scotland.

In February, the Royal Navy launched an investigation after the media reported that the cooling system aboard the nuclear-powered submarine HMS Vanguard had beenrepaired using super glue.
