more importantly, there is no way that little pop gun special effect provided enough thrust for that space vehicle to leave the moon's gravity. ffs, the moon's gravity is 1/6th of earth's. so, if that return vehicle was 2000lbs (likely much heavier), it would still take a rocket of considerable size to liftoff out of the moon's gravitational pull.
