The revelation that the FBI used foreign intelligence tools to spy on those engaged in protected First Amendment activity is extremely disturbing.
The 702 authority, which gives the government a valuable shortcut to pursue real threats, is dependent on the notion the government can be trusted not to illegally abuse and misuse the capability.
Unfortunately, the actions of the government have put this important tool in jeopardy.
