Nobody was told they can't make practice notes. Can use other boards like /qrn or /comms. But that's just for really new notetakers. Why not just make notes, period? They don't have to be perfect. Baker can pick up or leave as he will.

  • announce you are taking notes with dough tag

  • post them & ask anons to check

  • if baker arrives, ask if he wants you to continue

 

Simple.

 

Why not just make notes and see what gets picked up? Baker or admins can give feedback.

Rules for bakers mostly come from baking traditions built up since the start. Rules of thumb became rules when (new) bakers depart from courtesy practices like offering up dough after a couple of breads. We mostly learn by watching what experienced bakers do.
