The truly part means it's not parable. We are literally born again. We couldn't go where He was going, but would come later. Growing pains.

I believe the majority of the old testament is in parable and Jesus taught in parables to awaken people to it. For instance the tower of babel is a hierarchy. Think of the pope, sitting at the top of a tower reaching unto heaven, claiming to be infallible when he speaks for God. So they were separated and language was confused.
