iPhone prices tumbling in Russia

Retailers have been forced to sell devices at discounts due to supply surge linked to parallel importation, media are reporting

Prices for iPhones in Russia have plunged by six to ten percent at large retail chains due to a market glut that followed increased supplies of Apple products through parallel imports, media reported on Tuesday.

The prices of some smartphones, depending on their modifications, have dropped by up to 10%, according to news outlet Izvestia.

Retailers have been forced to reduce iPhone prices due to overstocking, after numerous suppliersflooded the market with devices using a parallel import scheme and fueling competition, industry experts explained. (Cool lets do that in the US)

This applies not only to the iPhone, but also to other Apple products that are officially listed as “unavailable” for purchase or delivery in Russia.

Apple stopped selling iPhones and other products in Russia last March, joining the exodus of Western brands amid Ukraine-related sanctions.

Russian retailers procure iconic gadgets from other countries viaparallel imports, a practice by which a non-counterfeit product is imported without the permission of the intellectual property owner via alternative supply channels.Russia legalized the mechanism to provide the market with goods that Western companiesstopped delivering or producing in Russia because of sanctions.

(Where there’s a will there is a way, and Apple’s probably fine with it! Really funny.)

Britain refuses to return remains of Ethiopian prince – media

The UK royal family says exhuming Alemayehu’s body would disturb the resting places of others buried in the vicinity

Buckingham Palace has reportedly rejected a request to repatriate the remains of Prince Alemayehu, an Ethiopian royal who was brought to the UK as a child in the 19th century and isburied in the catacombsof St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Prince Alemayehu was allegedly abductedand taken to England at the age of seven as an orphan after British soldiers looted his father’s imperial citadel andseized royal treasuresfollowing the Battle of Maqdala in 1868. He wascared for by Queen Victoria, who arranged for his education and his burial after hisdeath at the age of 18.

However, the prince’s relatives want his remains to be returned to his homeland, with Fasil Minas, a descendant of the Abyssinian royal family, emphasizing that Ethiopia is his rightful home.

“We want his remains back as a family and as Ethiopians because that is not the country he was born in,” Minas said, as cited by the BBC.

In response to the request, Buckingham Palace said removing Alemayehu’s remains could disrupt the resting places of numerous others interred at St. George’s Chapel.

“It is very unlikely that it would be possible to exhume the remains without disturbing the resting place of a substantial number of others in the vicinity,” the palace said in a statement quoted by the BBC.(the people are dead, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. Is this some kind of satanic practice?)

The statement emphasized the sensitivity of the chapel authorities towards honoring the Ethiopian prince’s memory, while also maintaining the “responsibility to preserve the dignity of the departed.”

It further stated that the royal family had previously accommodated requests from Ethiopian delegations to visit the chapel.

For several decades, Ethiopians have been campaigning for the return of their royal. In 2007, Addis Ababa wrote to Queen Elizabeth II,asking that the prince’s bones be repatriated to Ethiopia, but the request was denied.

Russian police begin work in Artyomovsk

The city, known in Ukraine as Bakhmut, was captured by Russia’s forces last week

Russian police officers have started working in the city of Artyomovsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic after the complete capture of the city from Ukraine last week, the acting head of the region announced on Wednesday.

“Starting from today, we have brought the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to Artemovsk,” Denis Pushilin said, adding that police officers would be tasked withlocating and evacuating any civilians who may still be in the city. (Wow would any still be there?)

He noted that, in the future, theMinistry of Emergency Situations and other Russian agencieswould also start operating in Artyomovsk. After that, work on deminingthe city will begin, he said.

On Saturday, Evgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner private military company, announced that the operation to take control of Artyomovsk had ended and that the city had been “fully captured.”

He also said the Wagner Group would remain in Artyomovsk until Thursday, after which it will hand over control of the city to the Russian Defense Ministry and go on leave to rest and regroup.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the operation to capture the city had been successfully executed by the Wagner PMC with artillery and air support from regular Russian forces. President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Wagner servicemen and Russian military troops on their success.

Ukraine, which previously claimed that Artyomovsk would be defended at any cost and would become a turning point in the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, has thus far refused to admit the loss of the city.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has insisted that fighting for the city was still ongoing. However, at the same time, President Vladimir Zelensky’s senior adviserMikhail Podoliakvowed on Sunday thatUkraine’s armed forces would inevitably recapture Artyomovsk.

A salt mining city with a pre-conflict population of 72,000, Artyomovsk has been the stage of a bloody battle for many months as the city is seen as a key strategic stronghold in the region. Russian forces nearly encircled it and methodically pushed the Ukrainian Army from the western suburbs. The city has been largely destroyed during the fighting.

Eurasian Economic Union strengthening despite Western pressure – Putin

The Russia-led free-trade bloc is striving for the stable economic development of its member states, the president said

The role of theRussia-led Eurasian Economic Union(EEU) in the global arena and the integration of its member states are growing despite external pressure, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

He was speaking at the plenary session of the second Eurasian Economic Forum (EEF) in Moscow. The event, which was attended by officials and businesses from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, will run through May 26.

“The numbers speak for themselves. Despite the large-scale crisis in the global economy and trade, considerable geopolitical risks and uncertainty, the combined GDP of theEurasian [Economic] Union’s states decreased by merely 1.6% in 2022,” stated Putin, noting that some experts had predicted a completely different scenario.

He said forecasts of the Russian economy’s collapse due tosweeping Western sanctions had failed to materializeand, on the contrary, the country’s sovereignty was significantly enhanced.

The global financial sector has undergone significant changes, butRussia has adaptedand is “becoming one of the leaders in these processes,” Putin added.

Russia and itspartners are interested in fair, efficient, pragmatic international collaboration, the president stated, while those who support a unipolar world are hurting the global economy. The US with its economic policy only ruins the country’s own development as it “shoots itself in the leg,” he added.

Putin also pointed to double standards in Ukrainian policy, arguing that – despiteKievcalling Russia an aggressor –it is “cashing in”on the transit of Russian energy resources.

(Everything the West does is backfiring, the West underestimated the frustration with the inequity to larger countries and Eurasian Economic Countries are willing to change and recreate the system to work for all countries that joined or want to join. The West is living in a mirage of the last 60 years and their power. The EU countries economies are crashing and burning faster than the controlled destruction under the depopulation model. Karma of the misuse of power is a Fucking Bitch! The interesting thing is all that is going on is producing the results that PDJT wanted, which was to no longer be the policemen of the world. But have excellent economic relationships with World Leaders.)
