>If Q were simply a LARP, … then why has the military not said a single thing about it?

SOP when dealing with crackpots. responding to it only provides validation. ignoring it is the most effective way to thoroughly discredit it.

dumbass question.

Most ham radio repeaters are operated for the community by either amateur radio clubs, or radio enthusiasts who want to make a resource available. There are likely not "bad repeaters" just community resources used by bad people.

Repeaters are most often used for communications over say 5-100 miles depending on terrain. Most short range ham communication is simplex (direct radio to radio, not through a repeater) in a way analogous to the low power FRS radios available in WalMart etc. Longer distance communications may also be direct, using more exotic frequencies (shortwave for example), this may be what Nellie Orr was doing (don't recall specifically, but likely)

As for decoding - most ham comms are just voice on the open channel, no decoding needed. There is some packet comms that are an amateur equivalent of internet, that's not as easily accessible.

Plus on the edges of ham frequencies the Military MARS system operate. Talking in or around ham frequencies is not the place to play. FRS frequencies are safer to use here is a link to them : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Mobile_radio_Service

I have been a ham for 45 years and just enjoy visiting with people after studying radio theory.

Their are plenty of frequencies to bug out on if needed. most radios are full coverage and cover ham/police/FRS so I just ask please talk somewhere other than ham freqs that I studied to be able to do.

If comms go down… some of you wonder why you need ham. If you can't drive for help, you might need to call for an ambulance, a fire truck, or a cop. But, if you don't have a radio, you would have to drive to a local ham operator to relay the message for you.

You're supposed to be licensed to transmit.

Anyone can listen for free.

Use Walmart type walkie-talkies for nearby neighborhood comms. They are already pre-programmed with the frequencies - no brainer comms. They are line-of-sight. Depending on your terraine, that might mean a transmit distance of a few hundred feet, to 8 miles (if nothing at all is in the way).

Comms over ham (and walkie talkies) are NOT PRIVATE. Anybody listening hears everything you say. Keep that in mind.

Look for the people with the BIG antennae arrays in your area. They are probably ham operators, and might help you transmit an emergency message. MIGHT.

If a WROL situation exists, you might be met with a shotgun instead of a smile. Unless your face is recognized as a friendly.

Repeaters - many have back-up batteries, but how old the batteries are, and whether or not they have solar panels to charge is quite another thing.

You don't just buy a ham radio and turn it on and use it. frequencies and other data all has to be programmed in….. don't expect to buy a ham for emergencies and then not learn how to use it until the day the SHTF.

Those that have their ticket (license) already know what to do. They know the frequencies of their local repeaters. They know who their buddies are. They're already Good To Go. Skip to next post.

- Those that do Not have their ticket (license), listen up. You ordered your Baofeng UV-5R radio and now you want to communicate. You have 2 choices. Either start studying for your ticket at hamstudy.org for the tech license so you know How to Program your radio and how repeaters work so you can talk to others when SHTF or…..

- You wing it. You don't know how repeaters work, nor care to learn how (this is a big disadvantage to you). You need some frequencies that you can manually program into your radio to listen AND talk on akin to a walkie-talkie. The frequencies you need to know are:

146.520 MHz (2 meter VHF calling frequency)
446.000 MHz (70cM UHF calling frequency)
These 2 "channels" are akin to Channel 9 on a CB radio. You should be able to reach someone or hear someone on these 2 frequencies during an emergency situation.

- AmRRON "Channel 3" (https://amrron.com/) protocol frequencies:

462.6125 MHz (FRS Channel 3)
151.94000 MHz (MURS Channel 3)
26.985 MHz (CB radio Channel 3)
146.42 MHz (AmRRON Prepper Channel)
List in on these frequencies every 3 hours (12-3-6-9) for 5 minutes per AmRRON instructions on their website.

Listen up faggots, general ham radio anon here with a SHTF primer on open air comms.

First, get a radio. You're a poor dirty nigger and you wouldn't know a radio store if you were throwing a rock through its window so let's just buy the cheapest piece of shit you can. It's chyna garbage called baofeng, get the UV-5R.

Next, figure out where hams talk and listen. Remember that this is licensed spectrum and you'd be too fucking dumb to pass the technician exam without a minority exemption even if there was going to be a place to take it after the world ends. With that said, don't fucking transmit, shut the fuck up and listen. If you transmit and don't know the protocol (including use of your callsign,) you'll have elmers fox hunting your signal faster than you can jump over fences. You think mask nazis are bad, just wait until you interrupt two old dudes having a conversation about the weather with an unlicensed transmission.

Now that you know to keep your big fucking nigger lips shut go to repeaterbook.com or get the repeaterbook app on your stolen iphone. It's going to have a list of all the repeaters in your area. You can straight up tune your radio to these, but you won't be able to broadcast through the repeater. These are the frequencies established faggots in the area will congregate around when everything goes tits up. You won't be able to transmit through these repeaters because, again, you're unlicensed nigger trash, but also because you don't know how to program the offset and TSQL tones into your cheap chyna radio. Anyone tuned in on those frequencies will hear you if they're close enough though. Print out your repeater list with all of the columns, even if you don't know what the fuck it's all for.

If you want to actually know what the fuck you're doing, get the ARRL technician license manual, it explains everything you'll need to know for the VHF/UHF bands that you can use cheap chyna radios for.

maxwell was an asshole of the highest order, and his equations are WRONG.

Heinrich Hertz corrected Maxwell's sophomoric math mistakes.

read a book sometime. or in your case, probably LOTS of books.

according to the american cancer society, 1 in 3 will get cancer. that must be true, too. ACS would never lie….

in which case, i must be an anomaly, because i know thousands of people, and only a couple dozen who got cancer.
