Here's the vid from the embed on that site.

Anon is considering transcribing it.

Anybody know of some sort of "video caption transcription software"? (But in reverse; anon's searching just now showed "how to add captions" but anon wants to take captions-as-pixels-on-the-screen as input, and produce the original text as output.)

TY anon!

That's if the captions are embedded, and the software takes the text of the captions and overlays the captions on the video being shown.

In this case, someone recorded the video with captions already being shown on-screen; i.e., there's no way to REMOVE the captions either, they're just pixels on every frame.

So what anon is looking for (and might write) is something like Tesseract-OCR but for video instead of images.

Here we go!

Thank you anon, you helped anon find a pointer.

Now to research! :)

Using video2ocr / Tesseract-OCR to extract text from video

Anon's guess: it does something like"use ffmpeg to split into separate images; then use Tesseract-OCR to find the text on every image; then remove duplicates (i.e., a caption will be on-screen for 5 seconds or so)".

TY again!

>mencoder, which is bundled with mplayer can. in fact it can just dump all of the frames to images if you really want to, which can then be fed into any ocr software
