I have been lurking here for about five years. I have posted nothing substantive till now, as I am stuck. This quest is dangerous (I hear). I am sorry to hear about Brit Hume's son's passing. I was unaware.
According to research, Watergate was a coordinated overthrow of the US Government, transacted by Bent US Intelligence. Many of those who investigate - disappear, or suicide (I am neither suicidal, nor likely to 'disappear'). The details are dark and deep - but, I can say with certainty that "Deep Throat" was an amalgam character - a false construct to condition ignorant normies just in time for the coming Church Committee Hearing results. The hearing and it's contents were well conditioned and orchestrated to silence inquiry. Sure was nice of Colby to step aside after Bush finished making his deal with Chinese CIA Director Counterpart - General Chi Haotian, huh? And from there, to US Vice President - and then to President? And the biggest contributor to Nixon's campaign was who? Prescott Bush? And Nixon - he opened up China, canceled the Vietnam War? But, the hippies hated him?
Oh, and let's not forget, all those US GI's who were returned to US for burial - but, who's organs were removed and replaced with drugs? I wonder how much they got for the guts when sold? And the Golden Triangle? Set up by bent US intelligence during Nixon's administration (the same ones who took him out?)?

It is quite instructive to document all the falsehoods in the film ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, as these misdirections complete the FALSE EXCULPATORY EVIDENCE programming-pathways they laid down prior to the public relations campaign to silence what it was really all about. During this FOXNEWS video interview, Obst names the titles of some of those involved - FBI, CIA, DOJ, et al by title. You might recall that Watergate break-in happened in June 1972 - but, what is less remembered is that J.Edgar Hoover died in early May (8th), that there were two actual 'break-ins' - and the break-in happened the next moonless night available after Hoover's death.

The two Watergate break-ins … first, seeking information in the DNC National Committee safe (contents/targets identified, not yet made public, but having to do with CP & Ted Gunderson work), planting bugs to capture what they were saying, and the second break-in to replace the bugs with fresh batteries where they were "caught".
Thing is, they weren't caught. Four of the "burglars" were CIA - and the fifth, a CIA contractor. They were working Operation 40, which was an adjunct of a completely successful operation which became public on November 22nd, 1963. The operation was never shut down - as it was being controlled out of Panama (not Langley).
Nixon mentioned (Oct 10 1971) to CIA Director Helms that he knew "who shot John" - and Helms took action and redirected assets into place over the next 6 months to affect the take down. Nixon should have released what he had. Nixon did not.
Nixon had the goods on them and threatened to expose them, unless they let Nixon get away with his domestic agenda (discontinuing US Biological Weapons Programs that the CIA managed since Operation Paperclip). This last bit is critically important.
Helms said, "OK" - but, his 'off-the-books' operation was kicked into high gear on October 11th 1971 (the very next day). One of the assets had recently moved to the Pentagon had been working in San Diego previously. Area of expertise was Mediterranean AOR.
Some of those working Operation 40 within the FBI involved were Director, AD (purportedly "Deep Throat" - this is not entirely true - as this behavior (not person) is spread amongst a dozen or so FBI): CID, NSIO, SA (s), EAD, CD, and a few others. Their positions and behaviors are identical to those taken against Trump see - Q3990.
