An argument can be made for the symbol of Christianity is often the cross Jesus was killed on. Catholics add the body to the cross as if Jesus is still dead. Jesus was dead and buried but left his burial tomb 3 days later. That is the big deal, Jesus the Christ beat death. He also brought many people back to life. Truly unique and specific, important to know Our Christ beat death. When he tells us we will live with him after we die, it is comforting.
Since that is a more attractive, important amazing miracle of Jesus, the dead Christ on a cross symbol is misleading. If he was put to death in an electric chair, would Christians wear a chair around thier necks? Of course that needs to be considered.
Personally I don't tell people they should or should not. I can discover and speak to Jesus or speak to the Father thru Jesus and listen for an answer. I do not wear a cross everyday, in fact not much at all. He is still my Savior for He was wrongfully tried, convicted and crucified, an innocent man, but he came back to life to show us he has power through His Father to beat even death.. Justice is not here on earth.
