If you do away with the Old Testament, how can you understand that aspect of the New Testament.
Over and over as I get to a more mature interpretation of scripture I find out things from the Old Testiment that are the bedrock for the New one.
and if you throw it all away you're throwing away some of the most brilliant poetry and History that we have about that age.
I agree that it's important to read different translations, and I find some of them to be almost useless without commentary.
Or something that is difficult is only understandable by reading a few different translations and various commentaries.
Recently I saw an interpretation of one of the Psalms as being about the Ascension of Jesus Christ, it was something I'd never heard about before. You'd have me reject all that. You'd throw away Isaiah and Psalms, you'd do away with Job. You'd forget all about Jonah.
