Was looking at the history of the thing earlier, and went full retard and didn't notepad any of it, now the net full of the blown up story.

What I recall seeing is the Soviets built it in the 1950s as part of a canal system that provided water to Crimea for irrigation of once arid land as well as offered a transport route. Tied into that bridge blown up earlier, part of the same projects to provide for agriculture in the area.

Loss of that dam hurts Russia far more than Ukraine.

I've seen this in sci-fi movies for decades. Mess around with biology and get pimp slapped. Even one of the original star trek episodes had it. Messed with biology for life extention and biology went "fine, kids take 300 years to grow up, then you turn green and psycho then die"
