Russia will ‘never again’ accept US rules – Lavrov

Other nations are also growing tired of Washington’s orders, the top diplomat has claimed

Russia is at the forefront of a global rebellion against US hegemony, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

Speaking on a visit to Tajikistan on Monday, Lavrov stated that Russia’s diplomatic corps is increasing its global engagement after a period of disarray that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union.

“Over the last couple of years, we have been returning to Africa [and] Latin America.A determination has accumulated never to accept the ‘rules’ that Washington is imposing. Its role is diminishing, slowly but surely. An increasing number of nations are disillusioned with it,” Lavrov insisted.

TheUS-backed ‘rules-based order’ is prone to inconsistencywhenever any nation attempts to determine its own policies, Lavrov said. He added thatRussia is “at the very forefront” of resisting Western pressure, despite the US and its “subjugated” allies targeting Moscow with sanctions and attempting to isolate it. In practice, they have failed to separate Russia from the international community, the diplomat argued.

Lavrov said thatUS foreign policy was aimed at destabilizingcertain parts of the world, so thatWashington could “fish in the troubled water” under the guise of fighting terrorismand offering security. This is among the ways Washington coerces others into accepting its orders, the Russian foreign minister added.

Lavrov made the comments as he addressed Russian troops stationed at a military base in Dushanbe. The site is one of a handful of military facilities that Moscow operates on foreign soil. The diplomat said that whether dressed in suits or bearing guns, people were serving Russia “each in our own place” as they oppose Western machinations.

Ukrainian attacks are ‘reconnaissance’ – NYT-KEK US & NYTs running cover for Ukraine’s failures in battle

US officials believe that it might take Kiev several days to probe Moscow’s defenses before beginning an all-out push, the report claims

Ukraine has likely kicked off its much-hyped counteroffensive against Russia, but is so far focused on finding a weak spot in the Russian lines, the New York Times reported on Monday, citing sources. The report comes after theRussian Defense Ministry claimed it had repelled several attacks in the southern sectorof the front in recent days.

According to unnamed US officials interviewed by the paper, while Kiev did not tell Washington when exactly the offensive was supposed to get underway, it provided the US with anapproximate timeframe, with recent Ukrainian attacks falling within this period. (Yeah right!)

The US officials said that they partly based their assessment on satellite imagery showing increased movement at Ukrainian positions. Some American analysts believe that Kiev’s troops have mounted an initial push to evaluate Russian defenses, with another NYT source saying that this probing may continue for several days.

Should this reconnaissance-in-force be successful, the eventual target of Ukraine’s counteroffensive would become more evident, the source added.

However, while another unnamed US official confirmed to Politico that Washington had seen an “uptick” in Ukrainian military activity, he stressed that it did not mean that the long-anticipated push had already started.

On Monday morning, Russia’s Defense Ministry said it repelled a “large-scale offensive” along five sections of the front line in Donbass, later insisting thatKiev’s troops had suffered “significant losses” in a botched assault.

On Tuesday, the ministry said that Ukraine lost more than 1,500 service members, 28 tanks, including eight German-made Leopards, three French АМХ-10 light tanks, and more than a hundred other armored vehicles in the southern part of Russia’s Donetsk Region.

However, on Monday, Mikhail Podoliak, a top adviser to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, insisted that Moscow was “repelling… a global offensive that does not yet exist.”

At the same time, Anna Malyar, the Ukrainian deputy defense minister, said that while Kiev’s troops had indeed mounted several attacks, the main action was taking place near the Donbass stronghold of Artyomovsk (known as Bakhmut in Ukraine) which was recently captured by Russia after months of fighting.

Tech giant bypasses sanctions to supply Russian market – Kommersant

LG is reportedly exporting devices with Smart TV software from its Polish plant through Belarus

South Korea’s LG Electronics has begun installing software for Smart TV adapted for the Russian marketon television sets manufactured at its plant in Poland, Kommersant business daily reported on Monday citing market sources.

The devices supplied through a parallel imports scheme are pre-installed with Russian online cinemas and support the Alisa virtual assistant, the outlet said. TVs that are not adjusted for the Russian market do not support Smart TV functions, it added.

Russian retailers procure devices from other countries via parallel imports, a practice by which a non-counterfeit product is imported without the permission of the intellectual property owner via alternative supply channels. Russia legalized the mechanism to provide the market with goods that Western companies stopped delivering or producing in Russia because of sanctions.

Televisions are imported fromLG's plant in Poland to Belaruswhere an assembly line for TVs destined for the CIS market has been created in the town of Mlava. From there, the devices are sent to Russia, a source told Kommersant.

By adapting the devices for Russia at its Polish plant, LG formally does not violate Western sanctions, but such actions could create problems for the company according to a lawyer at the EMPP Law Office, Mergen Doraev. (Interesting how all the countries are enemies they don’t stop providing services!)

"If the Polish unit further provides Russian consumers with consulting services for software support, the company may face problems – from fines to criminal charges," he said.

LG Electronics suspended all shipments of goods to Russia last year due to the disruption in global maritime logistics in the wake of the conflict in Ukraine.

The company's share of Russia's TV set market slumped from 19.1% in January 2022 to 4.2% in January this year, the outlet said.

(Where there is a will, there is always a way!)

Dubai revives abandoned mega-project

The Palm Jebel Ali was cancelled amid the 2008 credit crisis, leaving hundreds of investors in limbo

Dubai’s ruler has approved a new development plan for the largest of the city’s famous palm-shaped artificial islands, the Palm Jebel Ali project, which was put on hold in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis.

Part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, Palm Jebel Ali will feature over80 hotels and resorts, providing approximately 35,000 families with luxury beachside living. It is estimated to add 110 kilometers (68.35 miles) to the emirate’s coastline, according to media reports. (I wonder if Trump company will be involved?)

“Palm Jebel Ali will further strengthen our urban infrastructure and consolidate the city’s emergence as one of the world’s leading metropolises. This new ground breaking project reflects our strategic development plan centered on raising the quality of life and happiness of residents,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stated on Wednesday.

The ambitious project’s revival comes amid a rebound in the property market of Dubai, the UAE’s commercial capital. Demand in the seaside emirate has been hitting record highs lately due to an influx of newcomers, which has sent real estate prices soaring.

Dubai aims to double the size of its economy over the next decade and become one of the “top 3 economic cities around the world.”

Still, there remain hundreds of investors who bought homes on Palm Jebel Ali that never got built. Some of those investors were offered to swap for alternative properties, others were offered refunds for amounts collected by the developer until it stopped working on the project in 2009. There is reportedly also an opportunity to reinvest cash in the revived Palm Jebel Ali. In that case, however, investors will receive only partial compensation as prices on the island are expected to be much higher than when the original project was launched two decades ago.

VIDEO shows Russian forces repelling Ukrainian offensive

Footage features heavy equipment being destroyed in Donbass

A video showing losses suffered by Ukrainian troops in their unsuccessful attackin the south of the Donetsk People’s Republic has been released by the Russian Defense Ministry (MOD). It shows Ukrainian heavy equipment, mostly supplied by Kiev’s Western backers, being destroyed by Russian strikes during the clashes on Sunday.

The footage published by the MOD on its Telegram channel shows six Ukrainian vehicles moving through open terrain. Five of them appear to be Western-supplied Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, with the sixth resembling an armored personnel carrier or an armored fighting vehicle.

Three of the MRAPs are then shown being destroyed by Russian strikes, with one of them engulfed in plumes of gray smoke. The video also shows four more examples of heavy equipment being taken out while apparently moving along a country road.

The presentation ends with several views of Ukrainian armored vehicles and at least one tank being hit by Russian projectiles. The exact quantity of destroyed Ukrainian equipment remains unclear.

Earlier, the Defense Ministry said that a large-scale Ukrainian offensive attempt in the southern part of the Donetsk People’s Republic had been successfully repelled by Russian forces on Sunday. Ukraine fielded six mechanized and two tank battalions for the operation, the MOD stated.

The ministry reported that Kiev’s forces lost up to 300 service members, 16 tanks, 26 armored and 14 ordinary vehicles over the last 24 hours. Later, a spokesman for the Russian ‘East’ troop grouping said in a video statement that one Ukrainian mechanized brigade alone lost over 250 soldiers, 16 tanks and 24 armored vehicles, including three US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, during the botched assault.

On Monday, Ukrainian forces continued their attacks in the south of the Donetsk People’s Republic and sent three fresh battalion tactical groups supported by tanks into action, the spokesman said, adding that the Ukrainian forces’ advance attempt had been thwarted.

Kiev admitted on Monday that its troops had launched an offensive “on certain fronts.” Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister, Anna Maliar, downplayed the situation “in the south” as “local fighting.” She also claimed that the military had launched a major operation targeting the key Donbass city of Artyomovsk, known as Bakhmut in Ukraine.

Artyomovsk was captured by the Wagner private military company founded by Russian businessman Evgeny Prigozhin in late May 2023. Since then, Ukrainian forces have attempted to attack the flanks of the Russian forces holding the city. On Monday, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, described the situation in the area as “difficult” but still “under control.”

The Russian Defense Ministry has not reported on any major Ukrainian offensives in the Artyomovsk area.

Terrorists recruit uneducated people in Africa – retired military officer

Priority is given to those with military experience, Nigerian Colonel Hassan Stan-Labo told RT

Terrorists recruit uneducated people in Africa – retired military officer

Officials inspect the scene after a suicide car blast targeted a security convoy in Mogadishu, Somalia on January 12, 2022.

Terrorist groups such as al-Shabaab and Boko Haram operate and recruit “uneducated” citizens who have military experience in Africa, retired Nigerian Colonel Hassan Stan-Labo has told RT.

Stan-Labo was referring in particular to those lacking a “Western education,” who are unable to find good jobs.

According to the UN, terrorist attacks are on the rise across Africa. Unemployment, poverty, and hunger are among the key contributors to the spread of terrorist groups and the flow of fighters.

Back in May, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni said that 54 soldiers who had been deployed in Somalia as part of an African Union peacekeeping mission were killed in an al-Shabaab attack. According to the president, commanders panicked when some 800 terrorists assaulted the base.

This is believed to have been the bloodiest attack since the Somalian government, supported by the African Union, launched an offensive against al-Shabaab last year.

Meanwhile, Nigerian extremist group Boko Haram killed eight people in Cameroon on Tuesday. Over the last two years, at least 965 soldiers and policemen have been killed by Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in Nigeria.

According to Stan-Labo, terrorist recruitment also has a “religious connotation.” The terrorists convince would-be recruits that those killing unbelievers will be granted a place in heaven, he said.
