I read here that he had said something and went and found his video, from last Friday.
he shows a video of the sat image animation and you can clearly see that the fires all seem to have started at the same time.
I've linked the video but by now this is old news.
I'm not sure if it showed up in Notables or not, but I first saw that he was reporting this here, on Sunday.

when I say 'first time' I mean the ones that errupted in Quebec and elsewhere.

the wind and rain are never evenly distributed, but form patterns, much like the way that sand ripples below the water on the shore line, or where it collects on a parkinglot in sand dunes from the wind.
some places have a lot of sand, and big dune appears.
other places are scrubbed of sand, and there is a bare parking lot.
and those places are seamlessly connected and in close proximity.
